In 2004 I had the lapband procedure and as of January I had lost a total of 186 lbs!!! I have since gained 20 lbs, partially due to not taking my thyroid medication, and binging. How can I get back on track. I have been walking on the treadmill also, 2-3 miles per day, I'm in need of some major encouragement, also, what is a great stomach exercise without spending money.
I've had good restriction for over 6 months now, and it still surprises me how much it can change from week to week. And what's funny is that I seem to forget this every month. Two weeks ago I was wondering if I should get a very small fill just to help me with these last 10 pounds. Then this past week I am so tight I have to watch how fast I drink my water and I'm down 2 pounds in one week (154.4 today – yay!). It seems to happen every month, about a week before and a week after my period I hav
I have been so busy with work the last 2 weeks I haven't had a chance to write my blog. But I have been keeping up with the exercise even though I've had to do a lot of driving to meetings and classes. I started teaching a summer class at night, which really screws up my schedule. I'm thinking this is why I have such weird night time eating habits. But… no excuses. I am so happy my band keeps me from eating huge amounts of food at night on the drive home. I will be ending my 8 week challenge exa
I am now 5 1/2 months post op and feeling great. I have had 3 fills and now have 7cc in my 11cc band. Food gets stuck frequesntly and it is uncomfortable but I am learning to deal with it. I will be going back to the OCC next week for my fourth and hopefully final fill. I want to lose another 35 pounds and then I will finally be happy!
Went back to TJ for my 2nd fill last saturday 6/26. I now have a total of 8cc. Great restriction. When I went in, I felt NO restriction at all with the 5.5cc I already had. He actually had me go eat lunch at Applebees before I went back across the border to make sure I wasn't too full! They have great fish by the way!! I can eat good, about 1/2 of what I used to eat most of the time, sometimes less. A couple of days after that fill I ate about 6 bites of chicken at lunch, thought it was g
I had my lap band on Friday, June 25, 2010. Yesterday, I started back at the gym. While I was a little sore, I walked 1/2 mile. Today I am going back and hoping for a mile. As long as I don't have any complaints, this should be ok? Can anyone give me some good advice to their exercise regime? I know I have to wait 3 weeks before starting upper body workout.
Suggestions are welcomed.

I read an article today warning people about going to Tijuana for bariatric surgery. The gist of the article was that "you get what you pay for" and "American doctors are better" and "don't be stupid and go to Mexico" and several other extremist/ill-informed comments. It was the type of article that if read by someone on the fence about having surgery could be the thing that turns them off. This really bummed me out because seven weeks I went to Mexico and had bariatric surgery and it has bee
I am feeling very good today. I finished a big work project last night and what was even better was that I didn't do a lot of stress eating this week. I took a lot of little exercise breaks instead of lots of big eating breaks. Working at home can be tough, but I found that it really helps to have fruit and other healthy snacks. My plan to get back to band eating rules has also really helped. I don't crave carbs as much, and then I don't have the sugar rushes and crashes if I eat too many carbs
Whew,
Just made it home from the OCC, where I received my second fill and almost missed my plane! But here I am home and now thinking about the next level this brings to me and the many new methods of eating, coping, and learning I will have to work on. I felt restriction right away, which put me right back in the mind set I was falling out of. I had started to get too comfortable with minimal restriction and while I still was not eating as much as I used to, I could eat more than I should. So
I have been very busy with work so I didn't do my normal weekend update. I'm doing great on my workouts, it's only Thursday (2 days into week 4) and I'm already over 35 hours. I have got a very good habit for getting my 10 hours per week, so I'm not even going to plan my daily goals there. What I need to work on is my eating plan. I've still got a few more weeks of intense work stuff (which sometimes causes stress eating), so my goal for the next week is to continue starting my meals with protei
Fat jokes. They suck, right? And, yes, as soon as I am skinny, I will try not to make fun of the more overweight people. But fat jokes are pretty funny. As long as they're not intended to someone personally.
Just because I was reading a book today, "The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big, Round Things" by Carolyn Mackler. It's great for chunky teens, like me. I found some comfortand humor in it, including from a joke said that the main character, Virginia Shreves, found offensive.
Q: What do a fat
Today marks the beginning of week 3 of 8. I met my exercise goal of 10 hours for the second week in a row. Hooray!! My weight, however, has remained at 159. Which is either good or better, considering this is PMS week and I usually gain 2 lbs in water weight before my period. I've also had a couple of chocolate binges this week. It's so weird how chocolate makes me feel better. One thing I have done to limit the calories on my binges is to not just eat chocolate by itself. Too much of a slider,

I started solids this past weekend and so far, so good! I have no experienced any PB'ing as yet and have been feeling full on very small portions. And the scale has backed this up as I have been able to lose close to 5 lbs. so far this week. So all in all, the transition to solids has been successful.
But let me tell you what has been the most exciting thing I have discovered since moving to solids: flavors. It has been astounding the things I have been able to taste. I think there are tw
Hey, everyone. I'm Aileen and I'm 15 years old. :} Anyone here been banded? I've got a few questions for people, preferably fellow teenagers. :} I'd be happy to share my opinions with ya, too!
It's Sunday morning, and I'm half-way through my 2nd week of my 8 week big goal, which is to lose 8 pounds and log 80 hours of exercise. I learned about big goals from the fitness coach I hired last November. It was such a good investment. I'm pretty good at setting goals anyways, but she taught me the value of having daily/weekly plans and goals that lead up to a big goal. She also taught me how important it is to have some kind of public accountability. So that's what this blog is, and I'm sur
Well, here I am three weeks after my first fill...how am I doing? Well not too sure..most days I do real well. I thought I was well on my way to learning and living a new life..then bam..life interrupted..Both of my kids are home for the summer and I was not prepared for having two college age kids descend upon me...so my new routine in one week went out the door. In all fairness it has been a crazy two weeks since my daughter graduated college last week and this week moved back home with all he
Week 1 down, 7 more to go. I am thrilled that I actually exceeded my 10 hour exercise goal. I had over 10 hours by Monday, so it was nice to really take it easy on Tuesday and just do 2 regular dog walks and nothing else. It was cold and rainy yesterday and there is supposed to be more of the same the rest of this week. But I got a new workout from Blockbuster in the mail yesterday. We increased our Blockbuster online plan from 2 movies at a time to 3 and now I just make sure I always have a wor
Yesterday afternoon, as I was enjoying the thunderstorm outside, I decided that I should go through my very overpacked closet and pare things down. I had been planning to do that for ages because there were many things in there that I just simply do not wear anymore. However, there were two additional things that happened that I really didn't expect.
First off, I started looking at my winter clothes and realized that I likely would never wear some of these items ever again. This was a pretty
I did 1 hour and 45 minutes on my dog hike today. Thank goodness I have two young dogs who love to hike in the woods as much as I do. My hardest thing with exercise is getting started and they have no problem letting me know when it's time for a walk - 3 times a day, every single day, rain or shine. It was actually snowing this morning when we took off. I figured I would do an hour, but we just kept going. 1 hour and 45 minutes - woo hoo! I already updated the ticker, but I still have two more w
It's noon on Thursday and I had a great nsv (non-scale victory) today. The scale has stayed the same over the last month or so, but today I tried on a pair of pants that have been too tight in the thighs. I only tried them on because I didn't want to wear my baggy jeans and I it was too cold this morning to wear my capri pants. Surprise, surprise, they fit! And they didn't fit two weeks ago, so I've lost inches even though I haven't lost pounds. I am so happy. This is exactly what I needed to he
