Hello New World
Tomorrow it will be 3 weeks since I had my weight loss surgery and start on a new life. Had a bit of a rough patch for a few days after my last post which was about 5 or 6 days post op. I got weak, shaky and felt near passing out a few times but working with my nutritionist and Dr. So we got on top of that problem and within a few days felt better. I needed more protein!!
Let's cut to the chase......what you really want to know is how much weight have I lost. I won't hold
Hello everyone.
I have returned. I am 4th day postop. I had plication surgery on Tuesday and returned home on Thanksgiving Day. Let me tell you about my experience. Overall it was great.
My husband and I flew in the day before surgery. I was picked up at the airport and was taken to the Center. It was quite a long day for me as I was unable to sleep the night before and we had to get up at 3 am in order to make our flight. At the center I had to wait my turn to see the nutritionist, card
It was a bit difficult and had a brief standstill but I reached my preop requested weight loss goal. I have three days before surgery so hopefully I can lose a few more.
I am getting anxious/excited. Will update everyone on my return.
I wasn't going to post this but then again honesty is the best policy and I know that I am like a sponge when it comes to little tidbits of information and experiences of others out there going through the same thing. So here it goes.
So far I really haven't had much problem doing my prediet to the PreOP diet until today. I started the PreOp Diet on Monday which is three shakes a day. Although it is Thursday as far as I am concerned the "HUMP" is today. I woke up starving. It has been that
Good morning everyone. Two weeks from today and I will be having my life changing surgery. I have lost 13 lbs since I started this journey and would like to lose another 5 before surgery.
I have come to the realization that not only is this predieting requirement for safety but also to help you regulate yourself after the surgery.
At first I thought the prospect of shakes and a lean cusine meal daunting and that I could not do it but have found that it was a bit easier than I thought. I hav
I am looking forward to being sleeved on Monday. I look forward to the journey of changing my life forever one step at a time.
I wish you all a fanatastic night and may all your dreams for better health and happiness fullfill your dreams.
Freedom.....at last........
For those of you that have a BMI of 50 or above I am sure you have been asked to diet somewhat BEFORE the preop diet which consists of two shakes a day and a lean cuisine meal (which by the way are not bad at all).
Two weeks out I will do the 3 shakes a day diet which truthfully I am not looking forward to as I just have to have something to chew on so maybe I can leave a few ice cubes whole. lol
First of all if you read my earlier first blog you know I have bad knees and get very little to n
HI everyone...anyone out there having the sleeve on the 5th of November? I will be flying in on the 4th and hope to meet some life long friends in the process.
I have been very lucky to have my dad flying out the San Diego to meet me from Florida!!! We will be staying an extra three days to make sure that I am healing properly and to just relax as we both have very busy lives!!
Please let me know if you are going to be there!!
Onward to the new and amazing life that will begin very soon!!
i'm having plication surgery oct 22 and besides being anxious, need to know what to expect. I was on the wrong site "gastric sleeve" and just about everyone tried to talk me out of the plication surgery and into the sleeve.. YOUR THOUGHTS PLEASE!!!
I am no different than the thousands of other overweight people in the world. All my life I have battled obesity. I remember being a young teen and my Mom taking me to an osteopathic physician who provided me weekly shots and pills that was essentially ineffective.
I was at a managable weight until I got pregnant with my first child and gained 60 lbs and really didn't lose it and then three years later got pregnant again. When I turned 40 I decided I was tired of being overweight.
So I st
Well I feel like I am finally to the point that this new way of life seems like "normal". I have lost 40 pounds total since my journey began with the decision to proceed, and 20 since the surgery. That amount of weight loss in 7 1/2 weeks aint too shabby! I still have times where I really wish I could eat more but I think it is more from habit and psychological hunger. Lord knows, when you are full that is it. I have not yet thrown up and I truly hope not to, but from what I understand it c
Well its finally starting to come off again. I didnt loose anything for almost 8 days and then finally three pounds came off in two days. I am starting to try and recognize what keeps the weight on and it is mostly weekends and hormones. I know it to be true that monthly hormonal changes will affect weight significantly but my goodness is it frustarting. I also find that on the weekends I have a much greater tendency to graze. Still only consuming about 1000 cals a day on sat and sunday wh
Well all things considered I am doing ok. I have been frustrated as of late with the lack of loss I have been seeing. While I am trying to remain positive about not gaining anything, which I have learned is more than half the battle sometimes, not losing even 1/2 a pound in the last 7 days is to say the least bothersome. I have been counting my calories aggressively and am taking in 600 to 1000 cal a day. I'm going to try and chalk it up to hormones and water weight but even with that I woul
Well it has been 16 days post op and things have definitely started to improve from the pain standpoint. The cramping that was so bad is now gone for the most part and is really only problematic if I get too hungry. I had to move through the liquid phase much faster as I learned that, for me, my cramping was worse without something of substance in my stomach. I started to puree my food around day 13 to a watery consistency working my way up to baby food consistency over the next few days and
It's been 11 days since I had the sleeve revision. I'm feeling like I'm just water logged. All I have been doing is drinking. It's kind of hard drinking so many fuilds. Between water, protein shakes and brothy soups, I'm floating!
I'm one week out and back home now. Feeling pretty good and excided that the surgery and trip are behind me now. I'm amazed, I really do feel pretty good, it was alot like my lap-band surgery back in 2007.
I got to try my first liquid yogurt last night. I can say it was OK, but it made my insides churn a little. Kind of felt like I was building lots of "GAS" lol. Doing good and feeling pretty good too. Met a group of nice ladies that were heading over to the OCC to have their surgery today. Wished them great success and told them that this surgery was easy. They all had smiles.
I just wanted to update this question as I can see that many people read the posts but have no answer or comments. For those of you who are considering the surgery and read these forums, I want you to know that the worst of what I was experiencing has passed. I spoke with Dr Ortiz on day 7 post op and he confirmed that I was ok and was just experiencing post op cramping which apparently plication patients experience more of post op. I am now 10 days post op and the cramps still happen but no whe
It´s been 4 days since surgery and everything is going well. I haven´t been hungry. I´ve been drinking vitamin water and today I get to do some liquid yogurt. I´ll be going back to the OCC today to have my drain looked at and possibly removed. I´m a little bored, so feeling pretty good, last night I walked down to Revelution Ave from the Marriott,,, piece of cake. I took a taxi back, didn´t want to over do it, but I felt good.
Well, the big day is tomorrow, I have my bags packed. If all goes well, I should be at the OCC clinic at 8am tomorrow.
I'm suprised, this morning I stepped on the scale and I was down 12lbs. The scale never lies, the pre-op diet does work, but its not fun.
ONE YEAR AGO TODAY ... (Mmmm)
I made a decision that changed my life. I decided to get weight loss surgery at the OCC. The decision was not made lightly. I researched Dr. Ortiz and surgeries in Mexico first I suppose out of curiosity. The lower price certainly led to that curiosity. I suppose somewhere in the fore front of my mind I had no intention of going to Mexico for surgery. (not because of the ignorant stories...) I just wanted to see what people said about the experience. And in
WOW!
I am three days away from my 1 year anniversary! I had my plication procedure at the OCC on July 20, 2012. It has been the most amazing journey. I can not say enough positive things about the beautiful OCC (YOU changed my life! I changed MY LIFE!) and I am looking forward to going back for my 1 year post op follow up. I am going to prance, uh huh I said it, PRANCE in that door. (I will post when I schedule that, thinking mid Aug. and about the process.)
SO from my last 2 posts you
