Fellow Bandsters - Opinion Needed!
stormy replied to SamanthaW's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I have 2.75 in my 4cc band and I am tight but ok. I have problems eating in the morning and at lunch but dinner is fine. I think every person is different. I would be freaked out too. Unfortantely, I would be so freaked I would go get it under flouro but if you just had that done, that seems like to much. I go to have my flouro down in Olympia Wash. Where do you get yours done? -
Has anyone done there own unfill?
stormy replied to stormy's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
No, no I am fine. I just saw that and was kind of shocked. It was the way she wrote it. I sent her a message too asking her why but no response yet. I could imagine being in a bad situation but that is really scarry. No I am fine. I would never do that, I am a total chicken, I want this band forever and would never risk it. I hope she responds to me and that she is ok. I would hate to think that she did something to herself that would cause harm. I dont want to see anyone lose their band. This thing costs to much. Really the only problem I have had with mine is too much phelgm and that seems to pass during the day. She had to have been real tight to do that, that is the only thing I can think of. I'll let you know if she responds back. She be interesting -
I read on another site that a woman did her own unfill. I dont think she took very much. But from what I understand she could not get into the dr and thought she was too tight. I wonder if that is a good idea. I am not sure if she was a nurse or not. I question whether that could hurt the port if you dont hit the spot the first time. She had some nerve. I dont think I would ever do that. I just wonder if anyone has done that and why? What are the risks? How do you know where to do it? That just seems really scarry to me. Maybe the people who have done it dont want to admit it, cause it is probably a terrible thing to do but I was just wondering what would make a person do that and is there a risk involved?

I have pole dancing class tomorrow, that will take my mind off it a while. We have to dance in those 6 inch heels. Yahoo. Thanks everyone for responding. I am going on liquids for a couple days, I hope that will help. My stomach seems to be burning this morning but some cereal is going to help. Maybe some light oatmeal, I will liquify it. This is my last pole dancing class, I am bummed about that but I may sign up for private lessons until I can get to next level. Not sure. I put in my order for a pole at home but they have not ordered yet. Hubby would love me to practice. HA!

So for all of you that dont remember my family drama, I moved my mother out of my sisters house about three months ago when I found that my sister was living off her soc sec. Well the drama continues, now I found out that my sister is liquidating all my mothers belongings. She would not let us take most of her stuff when we moved her out. Now I find out the trailer mom was living in there, the one she paid for with her soc sec money is now gone. My stomach hurts. I feel gross. I am so angry. All the sudden it felt like my band got tight. This cant be good for me to be this mad. I knew she was gonna do it, I just didnt want to believe it. How could you do that to you own mother? I just want her to pay for what she has done. I am shaking. I called her and left her a nasty message, it did not make me feel any better. Should I go run around the block or something. Should I punch something. Should I cry? My poor mom. I feel like I am going to throw up. I am not sure if I should try to eat something. Maybe I should stay on liquids until I calm down. I have felt like this since last night, when I found out. How do you handle high stress? What is the best thing to do to make sure you dont hurt your band?

I have had some issues with throwing up. It seems like at lunch and breakfast I am really tight. I have called my dr several times and she tells me to go back on liquid diet for two days and then I am fine. So now I am being very careful. I dont want to throw up. I never throw up at dinner time, it seems like I am not tight then. So far I have thrown up 4 times in the last month. I have no idea if this is alot. I am concerned. I try to be real careful. It may be that at breakfast and lunch I will not be able to eat anything like meats of any kind. Today I had a salad at lunch and it was fine, but I know that is not enough food for me, I can't live on salads. I need some type of protein. for breakfast today all I could do was have coffee. I did have some problems with phlegm that seemed real thick but it appears this is going away. I will again call my dr and tell her this is a problem. I dont think anyone wants to throw up and I think that anyone who sits on here and tells us or assumes we are eating wrong, they need to get a grip. I have called my dr several times, I am eating correctly and I can't seek out another dr, because there isnt one!! Unless I want to travel 4 1/2 hours to one, which I can't right now. Seems weird that I can eat sometimes and sometimes not. I am sure that in time this will work its self out. I am going to talk to my dr again and discuss a slight unfill and tell her that I insist but as she said before, I dont have this problem all the time. I am going to write down the rest of the month if I throw up again. I wonder how much is too much for this to be happening?

Julie, what do you mean eroding? You haven't had your band much longer than me, I dont think. What do they think would cause that? Now that has me freaked out. How did you know there was a problem? Have you gone to that dr up in washington to have him take a photo of your band?

I have 14 pounds to go and then I will be under 200, it is killing me. I want to get under there soo bad. I am so happy for people who get to experience it. I want to get there.!!!!

I am glad that I went with dr ortiz, my only concern has been if something goes wrong. The drs here in Oregon dont have a lot of information or they just dont want to deal with it. There is one dr downtown but he wont touch me. I did find an excellent dr who does my fills and have had a great experience with her. But I guess that has been my only concern is that if an emergency happened would my emergency room know what to do. Other wise I am so glad I went there, the experience was wonderful. I plan to go back and have my band checked in Sept, that will be my one year band anniversay. Just want to make sure things are ok. Of all the drs I checked into, he is the one I found had the most knowledge. I guess if something did happen, I could jump on a plane. Hmm, maybe airfare is getting cheaper, not sure. Check him out, he is really a nice guy.!

Why was it taken out, what happened. That idea scares me, I sure dont want to lose mine.
-
That is exactly what she asked me. She decided that I should do liquid diet for 24 hours. Mushy for 24 hours and then if it continues I have to have a slight unfill. I am glad she did not jump at that. I had chicken broth at lunch and hardly had any phlegm. I am not losing fast, darn. I have only lost about 6 pounds in the last 30 days. I wish it was more. Tonight I will have a slim fast and hope that the milk does not cause me a problem. I may have to give up milk, that will freak me out. But maybe that is an issue for me. We will see if it goes away.

So I had a serious virus about one month ago and then afterwards I got a fill. I have not had alot of issues. I have had things stuck, and had to throw them back up. but this is not constant and I figure it is because I did not chew enough. But now this past 2 weeks I have had phelgm build up. Almost like I am getting a cold but I dont feel sick. I went to see my dr who asked me if I am too tight. He thinks I should consider getting some removed. Is there a way to tell if I am too tight, I wonder if I took some anti-acid stuff if that would make it go away and then I would know I am to tight. But what if this has nothing to do with acid, has anyone had phelm build up because of the band? I hate to have some removed. I am losing. I dont get stuff stuck all the time. It has happened maybe 4 times since I got a fill. Is that bad? The Phelgm really is bothering me, mostly at night. I guess I should call her, maybe he is right. I just didnt feel like it was acidy so I figured it was ok, but I do notice that sometimes I have a sour stomach, like I need something in my stomach. Are these signals that I dont understand? I will give her a call but I wonder if anyone else has had this issue. I dont want her to take out much. What a disappointment, I really felt like I was doing well. Any advise would be appreciated.

So I am on my third fill and I think this is all I am going to do, for now. I am pretty good. Just have to remember to chew. I notice during my monthly, I get a bit tighter but I guess that is expected. The work out continues, pole dancing is a blast and kicks your butt physically, I sweat so much that the sweat goes into my eyes and burns. Time to wear one of those head bands. My legs hurt every week and just when they start to get better, it is time for class again. Fitness is a huge issue. I think that getting the band is one thing, but I think that finding a workout routine is important, trust me, I hate to exersise but I found something I enjoy. I recommend that everyone find something they like to do. I have lost 8 pounds since my fill and I think the exersise had something to do with it. I am only on Pole level one, it will be a long time before I am on level two, who knows I may never get there. I am old!! HA!!! I am considering a pole for my living room, isnt that funny?? hubby likes the idea. We had to work out in 6 inch heels. Let me tell you guys something, that kicks your #$%#@%. I was WIPED OUT, DEAD TIRED. My legs hurt so bad. My feet were screaming. What a huge work out. I am over 200 pounds, getting off the floor in 6 inch heels after sliding down a pole, let me tell you, it is not a pretty site. Will send video later - NOT.!! HA!! Anyhow, just wanted to check in and thank everyone for your inspiring emails and thoughts. This road to losing this weight is not easy. With everyones support, this band is working for me so far, I am pleased. I hope you all are doing well too. Talk later.

Carbonated drinks after 6 months?
stormy replied to Eclipse's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I tried a soda and a beer. I was disappointed with both, it is not the same. I dont think I will do it again. It made me feel gross and I just did not enjoy it like I used too. Kinda a bummer. But I think I still like whiskey, havent tried that in a while, may check that out again. I loved my whiskey sours. Maybe one a month, got to watch the calories, those are a killer on calories. -
Ok so I admit, it looked easy. I know now it is not. It has kicked my butt. There is one class left and she asked me if I want to go to level two or do level one over. Or I could just quit. I am considering taking level one over. I did not get all the moves. I am so out of shape. I can not believe it. I am the biggest girl there. I have lost about 6 pounds since starting and my whole body hurts. I have bruises all over my body. It is really hard. But I have been sitting on my butt for years and I know the band alone is not going to get me where I want to be. But there is a part of me that is embarrassed because I should be able to do this stuff, or am I being to hard on myself. I am a skinny person in a fat body. Does that make sense? So what does everyone think?? Should I quit or should I do level one over? I am not ready for level two, they hang upside down. I think I will wait on that. Does everyone on here exersise alot? Should I get a pole in my house? I do have that option, that would help me get it, that may be fun. hmmm let me think about that one.. HA!@ Anyway, just want your opinion.

I have a question for those banded
stormy replied to pelesfury's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I tell everyone. I am proud I took charge of my life. but it is a very personal choice. I have a big mouth. HA! -
I am really confused. I am not sure what to eat to keep my stomach from hurting. I wonder if it is the mocha I have in the morning. She told me I could have mocha with soy milk and that is what I do but then about 1/2 hour afterwards my stomach hurts. Kind of an empty feeling. So I eat something like a banana, then it hurts worse. I finally broke down today and had a pop tart, it was the only thing in the machine at work and it feels better but this is crazy. What should I eat? Maybe I should try oatmeal. What do you guys eat to make sure your stomach dont hurt. Do I always need to keep it full? I guess I am not understanding this pain. Anyone have any ideas?

I use dr Fitzpatrick, she is really good. Here is her site http://gastricbands.com/index.html

WOW, this is wild. I ate after being on liquid diet for 24 hours after my fill and what a experience. It is almost like I just had the surgery. I need to learn to eat all over again. I was obviously very loose. Now I chew chew chew and I had spagetti for lunch and did I get full fast. WOW. Now I just have to find things to munch on because my stomach does not feel good when it is empty. I am worried that I wont get everything I need as far as vitamins so I am going back to chewables. But you know what, I like this, I really chew chew and I think that once I have that down, I am going to enjoy my food instead of just swallowing it hole, like I was. I can't wait to lose my next 5 pounds. With the exersise I am doing, I think this just might work. Sparkpeople has some great food ideas. I hope it stays this way a while.

Does anyone wear medical alert
stormy replied to stormy's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I found a really cool site that has them in fashion wear. They are very cute. http://www.laurenshope.com/products.aspx?catid=176 Appears they make them in all kinds of stones. I may just get one. I have some allergys to medications so I think that is good info too. Like they cant give me sulfa drugs. It says I can put that on it. Very cool. -
Ok probebly a dumb question but my dr who does my fills told me that since I am banded that no dr should ever do a scope on me. So that made me think, what if for some reason there was an emergency, like lets say this asthma that I have right now, what if all the sudden I can't breath. Would they still be able to put a tube down my throat? How would they know I have the band? I ask this because of what she said and because I have had breathing issues and I wonder how exactly this would be handled. How far would a breathing tube go how there? I am not a dr so I have no idea but she made it very clear that if I ever need to be scoped to tell them NO! Does anyone wear a bracelet that says they have the band?

What a beautiful baby. You are so lucky. You look so good. I am hoping I do as well as you have. Glad to hear from you, I was wondering what had happened to you, hadn't seen you on for a while. Now I see why. Send your son our thoughts and prayers that he is safe and sound and can come home soon!!!

I am so excited about these classes, I caught this bug and I am having some breathing issues. I am going to my dr tomorrow to insist that he give me a stronger inhaler. I have to get rid of this bug and I am not coughing enough to get it out. I DO NOT want to quit this class. NO WAY!! If he tells me to stop, I am going to be so MAD!!!!! I may have to take prednazone and that stuff makes me crazy but it would get this crud out of my chest faster. I am drinking lots of fluids and trying to get as much rest as I can. Class is Sunday again and the soreness is wearing off so I am ready for another class. This makes me mad. I am going, I have to, I am hooked!!!
