I am having mine done in Slidell (south louisiana) by Surgical Specialists of Lousiana. They have offices in Covington, Lafayette, Metaire and Baton Rouge. If any of those places wouldnt be too far a drive. They also do the surgery in Covington, slidell, lafayette, baton rouge or metaire as well. I am cash pay (no insurance) and it is costing me $13,500 and that includes 1 year of fills. If you call them they can explain all the costs or 'extra' costs over the phone. So far I have had to partially pay for my bloodwork (my insurance covered a little of that) and vitamins and my intitial visit (was $125 for visit + psych eval written test their website is http://www.whyweight.com/ And i am using Dr. Lavin. Both my mother and sister were banded by him and he comes highly recommended. If your insurance won't cover it and you have to do a cash pay, that 13,500 is the discounted cash pay price they ask. Also it moves along VERY quickly if you are cash pay and not waiting on approval from insurance. 1st appointment->surgery is around 4-6 weeks.
