  1. I am concerned for you that you are still on the protein shakes, especially since the instructions from OCC specifically say NO more shakes after the 3rd day of the fill. Also, I was really good about getting enough protein, and maybe a little much, as my kidney bloodwork came back with some elevated kidney function. So, be careful. Also, I lost 112 pounds in 52 weeks, and I lost a BUNCH of hair. Just cautioning you here, because I have been there and done that. My hair pretty much grew back, but it still isn't as thick as it was before that.
  2. Yay! Glad you finally "outted" yourself. I am glad to have you and hear of your experience as it happens.
  3. How totally cool was that! There is nothing like the feeling of winning something, no matter what you are winning.
  4. Welcome to our group! I did not have the kind of pain you are describing... did you have laproscopic surgery? If you had traditional surgery, you may have pain longer and more severe. Regardless, I would call my doctor about it.
  5. Welcome to our forum! You will learn so much here, and we are glad to have you and answer any questions. :lb9:
  6. Woot! My birthday! I will celebrate by thinking of you and your first fill!.. I am coming on the 6th for the first fill. I can't wait to hear how yours went.
  7. The replies so far have been wonderful. I agree about taking the slimfast in a different container. I have lived on diet popsicles and jello, and there is some fat free whipped topping you can put on the jello. I think the hardest part about the post-op solid food stage is getting enough protein. For the prom I would choose something that has some good protein in it, vegetables, and maybe a tiny lil potato. Hang in there... your first fill will be here before you know it, and then you just won't be hungry.
  8. I understand this perfectly! I am going back for my fill on May 6th, but my knees aren't wonderful, and 6 hours on a plane each way plus all the down time is totally exhausting and painful. Problem is, I DO trust the doctors in TJ more, but not only that, it would cost the same for me to get it filled here as it would to fly there and get it. Something for me to work out after my fill....
  9. Come on May 6th.. two of us are getting fills that afternoon.
  10. No matter which one you are it sounds like it went WONDERFULLY! (Hope you both/all feel that way)
  11. Am I the only one confused by this?
  12. congratulations.. we will be thinking of you on your big day.. let us know how it goes! :lb21: :lb21: :lb21:
  13. I would jump around the house, too, but like an elephant, I cannot jump for the bulk. (Just Kidding... jumping hurts my knees.) I remember the last time I lost 112 pounds I had one of my sixth graders come stand beside me.. one that weighed 112 pounds. My class was amazed.. they had watched the progress all year, and like me, didn't realize the drastic change because they saw me every day. I can only imagine putting that child on my back and going up and down stairs. That is worse than what they do on The Biggest Loser! Visuals are amazing.
  14. You can do it! We are all rooting for you and praying for your success.
  15. My whole immediate family knows, including my brothers and sister (whom Mom told.. argggg,) but I didn't tell them until after the surgery. Interestingly enough, my 3 children were ALL for it with no reservations about TJ. They said going out of the country is becoming the thing to do for elective surgeries because of the cost. India is filthy, but nobody says negative things about people going to India for boob jobs and tummy tucks. My husband, on the other hand, has told practically everyone in his office. He works for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida, which will not cover ANY kind of bariatric surger of any kind for any reason. He sat through all the meetings with Dr. Miranda, Dr. Ortiz, etc., not to mention the dozens of postings from here, and he has fielded questions from about 6 women in the office. He gave everyone the clinic's website and the forum website, and told them to call me for questions. I know that without insurance, that is the only way they will be able to afford the surgery. Anyone else... well, it is nobody's business. I just tell them thank you and the same thing posted above.. smaller portions and better choices.
  16. Remember that salt will cause water retention which will temporarily impact your weight, which could negatively affect your mood during that time. That kept me out of the dill pickle jar this week.
  17. You know, you could invite her to come with you. It would reassure her and give you another support person. Just a thought.
  18. Congratulations on your banding and success so far. I love reading people's experiences... it is uplifting and encouraging to me. Keep us up to date.
  19. (((HUGS))) I know this is trying for you, and your emotions are normal, so that should be some relief to know that you are not alone. Secondly, after I could eat solid food, I went back to my basic Weight Watcher's diet, where I could steadily lose pounds a week. I used Dr. Miranda's eating guidelines (order of food, etc.) but made sure I didn't eat more points than I was supposed to. I get a fill on May 6th, and I guess all of this will change. Anyway, just to keep up with some form of weight loss, that is what I have done. Exercise... good.. good for depression, too. Hang in there.. we are with you
  20. Thank you so much! I will try them first day I feel like baking.
