  1. Ahhh so glad it turned out better than expected. That picture is gorgeous. You should use that one as your avatar. You look much happier in that one. And your hubby is a cutie!
  2. I am not a drinker myself, just a couple times a year and only one or two. But, did have a marguerita at the Lucerna last week and it knocked me on my butt. It is definitely true when they say alcohol hits you harder after being banded!! Be careful!
  3. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great pics! I too, want those legs of yours!! And you hubby and kids are really adorable. Great pics, thansk for sharing!!!!
  4. ((((HUGS))))) I too, know what you are going through. Unfortunately, a lot of us have been in your shoes. But, please don't fret or kick yourself sweetie. You are in a horrible position right now. And we ALL have had to do whatever it is to make us feel better in this situation. There is absolutely nothing wrong with continuing your ice cream routine with your mom. That IS more important now than ever. Just try to have less. Or low fat or even frozen yogurt. Remember, you will have the rest of your life to diet, you only have 6 months with your mom. Do whatever you need to do in those 6 months without feeling guilty. You can make up for it later. You and your mom need each other more than ever now, and you don't need the added stress of kicking yourself when you fall. I know that it is not the ideal situation to be telling you to forget the diet, and I'm not. I'm just saying that you have a different priority right now, and let that be your focus. And remember, we are all here for you when you need us. (((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))) Ramona
  5. Thanks for saying this, my thoughts too. We don't have to be so strict every single day. The goal is to eat 1/3 of previous amounts. So, thats perfect!!
  6. Yup, like the rest said, it's normal!! Don't fret. It will end soon and then you will need a fill.
  7. So, why can't you make the same food as before, but try to make it low fat by substituting things. Or to keep your spirits up, make it the same way, but instead of eating huge portions like you would have before, just eat a bite to get the flavor. Let the other family eat the big portions. That is what the french do and they are a skinny lot. They don't deny themselves anything, but they only eat bites, not plate fulls. I know you need to eat healthier in the long run because of the band, but one day to have small bites of your favorite things isn't going to be cheating the band or hurting you. Just jump back on track the next day.
  8. Sweetie, I KNOW exactly how you are feeling. I have been on a rollercoaster of depression since March. No restriction. After my first fill, STILL no restriction. More depression and anger even. I was so mad and depressed because I was beginning to gain weight back, just like all the other years I dieted and then gained back. I had to wait until June 27th get my second fill and believe me, I am so HAPPY!!! I didn't think it would ever come, but it has. It WILL happen, I know it is hard, but just try to have a little more patience. And I don't mean too discourage you further, but your first fill may not help too much either. Most of us needed 2 to feel it. We have all been in your shoes, believe me we have. I was terrified of going back to my old ways too, so what I did was put myself back on the pre-op diet for as much as I could before my second fill. It was still depressing but it kept me from gaining too much back. So, maybe thats an option for you. If not, and if you don't feel restriction on your first fill, set an appointment up for your second one right away. I PROMISE you will be happy, it will come and you will be a HUGE loser like everyone else on here. Just keep your chin up for a little while longer!!
  9. Oh so glad to hear from you, I was so worried!! About dehydration, I didn't pass out or have a seizure, but I did have very severe vomitting. I was very lucky not to have ruined my band, but the vomitting was for hours and hours 3 separate times. It wasn't until I was given IV that it stopped. We were never able to pinpoint an exact cause but the general consensus between the 3 doctors was dehydration. That is why when I hear people tell me how much or how little they are drinking in their 21 day period, I encourage more. You should be sipping constantly throughout the day and go through several bottles of fluid. 3 minimum of gatorade and 2 minimum watered down apple juice. That in addition to whatever else I was drinking. I am only saying this because weird things CAN and Do happen due to dehydration. I don't think people realize how much water they get from food and when you don't eat any, you really need to step up the fluids to constant sipping. Glad you made an appointment and glad to ok. So go drink some more, ok?
  10. I am very worried about her too and wish she would post!
  11. Very good article, thanks!! Only one thing I want to add.....using the table to determine your proteing intake can be a bit misleading. Even though my weight indicates I need to have (I forget the exact amount) a certain amount, if I do eat that much, I will not lose weight. Dr. Miranda explained that too much protein can keep you from losing weight also, so don't max out your protein with the tables. I just found her e-mail.............. I asked: After banding, is there such a thing as too much protein? What is the max grams of protein per day? Her response: too much protein stores as body fat. The max of protein is 1.5g per Kg. Ideally is 1 g per 2.2 lb of weight to maintain the weight, you will have to cut some of that for you to have a deficiet of calories and loose the weight. So just follow the BASIC pyramid that is great and simple."teamnutritionusda.gov" 2 cups of lowfat milk or yogurt PLUS 4 servings of meat and beans per say a serving is: 1 ounce nuts 1 small chicken breast (half) 1 small lean hamburger 1 hard boil egg 1/4 cup pinto beans 1 slice of turkey 1 cup split pea The no eating and drinking is allways with your band THE RULES ARE Do not eat and drink at the same time avoid Pbing exercise 30 minutes per day eat thre solid meals per day avoid high calorie liquids chew 30 times per bit Do not eat between meals STOP EATING as soon as you fell full. Dr. Miranda I can't find the e-mail where I told her the amount of protein the table told me to have and she responded to me to cut that down, and not eat the whole amount. Again, this might be the rule for 'me' and not necessarily for everyone.
  12. You're the best WillT!! You're posts are funny, encouraging, informational and you are a joy to be a band-mate with! You are a lot of fun and make this tough weight loss journey a lot easier to handle. The support and encouragement you give to others is tremendous. Always welcoming everyone with open arms, you make us all feel warm and wanted. (((((HUGS))))) Ramona
  13. WOW woman!! You look fantastic!! What an inspiration you are.
  14. GOOD FOR YOU, you rock!! And I think you win for the day too!!
  15. I am also very concerned about the seizure too!
  16. Thank you very much Lori!! Seems like we are back to normal today already. Feels good.
  17. I sooo wish I could do that! I would love to walk to and from work. It's only 6 or 7 miles or so, but it is all highway so it isn't safe at all.
  18. Oh Good!! You had me scared there a bit! Just do whatever your rules are then. You made me hungry for applesauce though, and I don't have any. BooHoo. Incidently, when I called you honey, I meant it in the most affectionate way, not sarcastic at all, ok? Just didn't want you to think I was being a smart-aleck. When I re-read it, it sounded kind of sarcastic.
  19. Honey, if you were just banded 2 days ago, you need to be on clear liquids only, no cream of wheat, no milk and no protein drinks. CLear liquids only!! No pudding or applesauce. Were you banded by Dr. Ortiz? YOu are definitely going to hurt yourself and your band if you are not having just clear liquids.
  20. Is it spicy? I can't stand even the smallest amount of spice, but if it isn't, I think I'll try it.
  21. What a wonderful husband you have!!!! The cows are actually Bulls on Parade. They all stand for something and they are moved from town to town. Some of them are a little hard to figure out, but it is fun trying. DId you see the upside down one? That one is a converse sneaker. Did you see the clown one with the big red nose, that was so cute! Then they have one painted as an airplane with a cow and another bull as a passenger looking out the plane window. I took pictures of most of them, but something happened to my camera and they all look blue. I think the pink one is supposed to be a passport. Did you get to see Dr. Martinez? I think he is the most handsome man I've ever seen! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Glad you are home safe and sound and doing well!!
  22. YES YES YES a contest, right up my alley!!!! Would be fun!
