I've only had one fill so far and in 13 days, I get my second. The first one did not do anything. It was 3.8 in a VG band.

As some of you may remember, last week we had to put my mom's cat Oscar to sleep because he had horrible cancer. It was, and still is very difficult. But, on the bright side, seems he is working on his angel wings already...................My cat Missy who has battled liver failure for 3 years has unexpectedly been cured! I had her in for her usual 3 month blood work on her liver values and the vet called with her results today. He said, he doesn't understand how it could be, but her liver is perfect! That it seemed to be a miracle. See, he told me 3 years ago when she was on deaths door that you never get rid of liver failure completely, you just try to make it better and treat the symptoms as best you can. Well, she has been on meds for 3 years and her numbers did get better with time but never back to perfect. And, that was expected. Until today! Perfect liver values, NO MORE MEDS!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Oscar, sissy Mona loves you and misses you!

I don't know if this forum is right for me.

What makes you think that every comment I make on every thread is directed at you? You flatter yourself way too much! I no longer have the time or the desire to argue with you. I have better things to do with my time. Like sleep so I can get up early and think of new ways to 'jab' at you on this forum! -

After this comment, I think I am about ready to jump on the WILL T bandwagon!! Thanks Bud! -
THATS GREAT! Nothing like a good support system.

Thats what I was told also. You are fine. But, better not mention milkshakes, you might get blasted by some people - even though you have permission from the doctor. -

I think you gave made your position VERY WELL KNOWN now! I think you can stop now. Or........do you delight in inducing and continuing a fracus? If so, I'd gladly keep it up with you, then maybe you will leave eryone else alone. -

Dr. Ortiz is just so FREAKING cute I wanna reach out and grab his cheeks and pinch them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His video is forcing me to say this..................I had severe vomitting issues 2 and 3 days after surgery. Then a week after I went home. The last one lasted for several hours and it was horrible. I promise, I swear, I never touched food!!! I was still on the clear liquid that whole time and even remained on it longer because of the vomitting I was going through. I SWEAR TO GOD I DID NOT HAVE FOOD! I SWEAR I SWEAR I SWEAR!!!!!!!!!!! I say this because they never did figure out why I was doing that so much except to think I amy have over done it with the GAS X strips. But I really do not want them thinking I ate something when I didn't. -

My 2 cents.............. I was told by Dr.Miranda that there was no limit on liquids during the first 21 days. Liquid also includes ice-cream. I was told to drink all I want. So, that would include 1 cups of soup and 2 cups of ice cream. I was told by Dr. Miranda that the band was not meant to restrict liquids and therefore, liquids will pass straight through to the stomach beyond the pouch. Not sure how THAT is going to stretch the pouch. If you don't like to hear certain things in a post, then the simple cure for that is DON'T READ IT! Re-read the forum rules. I think belittling someone is off limits and besides, it's just plain rude. Stop worrying about other peoples pocketbook. It's none of your business if they choose to throw away $8,000. Being rude, mean and hurtful never got anybody anywhere. So stop it! If being supportive is not in your nature, then you are right, this IS NOT the place for you! And finally, I am SO very glad that God has chosen so few of us to be perfect! I can imagine what a dull and boring world this would be if we were all completely perfect and exactly the same as everyone else. -
Hmmmm that is interesting. Very glad he gave you some reassurance. Sure makes you wonder how these US doctors can do it without fluro though. Now, I am wondering if I am going back too soon? I am scheduled for the 27th, exactly 4 weeks from my first fill. I had hoped it would be my last trip out there. I can't cancel it now since I already have tickets. Makes me nervous about all that vomitting I did after surgery. But Dr. Romero didn't mention anything about a stretch when I was there last month so maybe it is fine. Well, my friend is going somewhere around 8/21 so maybe I will end up going with her after all. I just wish it was closer and cheaper. Did he reiterate what the exact rules were? I know about eating the protein first, and not overeating, and no carbonation, but is there more? Although I can see how hugely disappointing this, it really is better to do it the right way. Sure hope you are having a safe trip home!!!!

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW I can smell you all the way here in PA!!!
-
EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW what that really means is that you didn't take a bath to very often during that time!!!!! HAHAHAHA Just teasing!! And I can because mine took 3 weeks to come off too!!!

Wear dresses if at all possible, much more comfortable than trying to wear a waist band on the bloated stomach you will have. Luckily, I had no pain so I didn't need the pain pills. The GAS X didn't really work for me. Walking did!! Just remember, milkshakes can be your friend during the first 21 days when you are starving. Just don't LIVE on them as they are terribly fattening!

Frustrated and not losing
mona-camille replied to Painter's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hon, I know right where you are at! I was banded 3/24 and still waiting for loss! I've been told a million times that you can't expect to lose until your first fill. I did get that, and only had restriction for 1 meal. Then, I was told it takes a second fill before you get restriction, so I am waiting for that now too. That is 6/27 and can't come soon enough. If I were you, I would get that first fill out of the way ASAP. Then set up an appointment for your seconmd fill ASAP too. That is where I hear most people have their success. A few people have restriction with their first fill but not many. And don't worry, I WILL NOT tell you the band is just a tool as I have been told repeatedly. I understand that tool has to be working to be of help, and I think once you get your second fill, you will be pleased. Don't worry, it will come, probably slower rather than faster, but think of that as a good thing. The slower the better and then your skin won't hang either!! -
Call the OCC and ask them if there is enough time to get the surgey the day you get in and if so, DO IT!! The sooner it's done, the more time you have to heal afterwards. But WAIT!!!! If you get it done early, you won't be there to see my naked belly!!!!!! And I know how excited you are for that! LOL!!!

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scheduling Second Fill
mona-camille replied to bandgroupie's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Don't worry, you can still watch!!! The needle doesn't hurt at all. It just feel weird when the saline goes around your band. Not pain, just a weird feeling. Just an FYI, my neice that I am bringing is 22 years old but fell out of a window 3 stories high when she was 2, so she is kind of slow. You'll see when you meet her, but just so you know ahead of time why she is kind of 'different'. -
Scheduling Second Fill
mona-camille replied to bandgroupie's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Thanks hon! I was starting to feel like I couldn't come here anymore unless I was losing weight and not feeling so bad. I agree. If diet and exercise alone were enough, I wouldn't have put out this kind of money. If I hear "the band is just a tool" one more time, I think I'll choke myself! I think we are all very aware of that already and I hate having it crammed down my throat like I am ignorant or something and don't know that. If I wanted instant weight loss I would have had gastric bypass. My wish is that this 'tool' would work. If it doesn't, then what was the point of getting it? So, hopefully, my second fill (in 2 weeks) will kick this tool into working order! -
newly banded and feeling strange
mona-camille replied to imadaysleeper's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Sounds like you have good restriction without having a fill. Good for you!! You are lucky. -
I feel sorry for them too! They stand in that hot sun all day not moving. When I was down 2 weeks ago with my neice, she went to the store and bought a bag of apples and walked up and down the street giving all the donkey's a treat! They really loved the apples. And it made us feel good to help them. Rosarito Beach is worse though. There, they have horses all over the beach just standing in the hot sun on the scorching sand waiting to give people rides. There is no food or water for them and they look so sad and tired. I was so upset when I saw them, I had to leave. That is, after I went up and petted them all.

In reality, it is a percent of your weight. But, I forget what that is. I think for most people 60 grams is like the minimum.

I can't see the one pic, it has a red X.
