  1. I don't have any port pain but I can say that bending over is still uncomfortable and I was banded 3/24.
  2. I had a long flight home too and was very worried about it. I stayed an extra day in Mexico just to be able to recvoer longer and I am glad I did. The plane ride home turned out to be just fine, no worries! (I flew to the very east of Pa).
  3. Well, I had scrambled eggs for breakfast after all and 1/2 piece of toast. It went down fine and I am still very full from that 3 hours ago!
  4. I suppose our real food day is tomorrow, but I am going for it today. Trying watery cream of wheat and then flounder. This is the suggestion of Dr. Martinez for me since I had so many vomitting issues. He wants me to eat something very mushy at first. I think I will be fine though. Yesterday, the Cream of Chicken soup I had went down fine and it did have chunks of chicken. I chewed them up very well and no problems. I am so hungry and sure hoping that eating food is going to satisfy me. Just hope I don't gain anything until my first fill. I made an appointment for May 26th which is so far away but I wanted to do it over a holiday so I wouldn't have to take off so much work. Good luck you all, and let me know what you eat and how you do!!
  5. Got it from Dr. Miranda. Drinking before is as bad as after because the drinking right before a meal also sloshes the food down too fast if there is too much in your stomach.
  6. Not sure about you, but I was told not to drink for 1 hour before and 2 hours after a meal by the OC, so I am sure that she was told that too and is why she is doing it.
  7. Thats a great article. Thanks!
  8. oh no, I'm sorry you didn't like it, but glad your husband did. At least it won't go to waste now. Did you make it with milk and ice and double or even triple to amount of powder? I don't like it at all with water and only one scoop. But my way tastes like a milkshake. MMMMMM
  9. It IS easy isn't it? My whole experience felt more like a vacation than a surgery. I had such a good time and sounds like you are too!
  10. Wow, you can see a difference in weight already. Good for you! And you are very pretty!!
  11. Glad you made the decision to go back, I think you will be very happy. I can't go back until Memorial Day, but wish it was sooner!
  12. Geesh, am I the only one who thought Dr. Martinez was drop dead GORGEOUS??? Sure, Dr. Ortiz is pretty and all, but I could have jumped Dr. Martinez in a minute if I wasn't afraid of crushing him!
  13. Yuck! You know, I have had those 3 instances of horrible vomitting and not a single one can really be explained. I do remember reading that after banding you body absorbes alcohol much quicker so that may have been it. I also know that you should probably go back on fluids for a few days to get your stomach back the right way. At least thats what Dr. Martinez told me to do after I vomit. Vomitting instantly swells the stomach and eating more food will only intensify that. So, I would suggest fluids only for a few days to be safe. You might want to call the OC just to let them know simply because I think they would want to know. Vomitting (for reasons other than eating too big a bite or too fast) is unusual and it seems that there a more and more of us having that problem. For me, all 3 times I was still on liquids, and the Doctos found that highly unusual. They kept asking me if I ate anything and I didn't. The first 2 times I was still on clear liquids 2 days after surgery. The next time I had just graduated to creamy soups in week 2 and no food yet. I just think the OC would want to keep track of that, so I'd call them. And geesh, hope it doesn't happen again and that you are feeling better.
  14. You ARE nervous aren't you Mindy? You know what, put your mind at ease and just make the decision to go to the OC for your fill. Yes, it will cost you some money, but I think in the long run you will be happier with it. Thats pretty much what I decided to do. I am not even sure if I will need a fill but I am already planning to come back out over memorial day weekend. I want to bring my mom (the one who said the mexicans don't wash their hands) so she can see for herself, and my neice too. So, we are making a little vacation out of it but I really will feel better having the OC for my first check up. Oh and I do remember one thing about the port flipping thing. Here in the US the ports are usually placed on the right side of the body but Dr. Ortiz places his on the left because after further research on lap bands he determined that port flipping occurred less often placed his way. I believe he himself told me that. And if I am not mistaken, if the OC had to do a fix, wouldn't it be free? So you would save that way. I have to admit, I know where you are coming from with the changing of your mind every day. I am right there with you deciding on whether to make final plans to fly ot not based on the fact of needing to purchase tickets prior to knowing whether I will really need a fill or not. Thats why I am kind of just deciding to make it a vacation, that way I won't be wasting a trip. Of course, tomorrow is another day and another decision, LOL!!
  15. I just got my lapband for life today and am half way done. I guess it would have helped me more to have ordered it before I was banded, LOL!!
  16. Well, I keep trying that it it won't let me add an avatar no matter how tiny I shrink it. GRRRRR
  17. COOL!! Best of luck to you, you will do fine!! Can't wait to hear from you when you are all done. And yes, be sure to tell them Ramona from 3/24 says hi!!!
  18. Good for you!!! Glad it went well! I get to eat this weekend and I am so afraid. With all my vomitting issues, I am afraid it won't go down. I think I might try applesauce as my first sicne that is cold and kind of smooth.
  19. Yes, I was afraid to try them too, but this one is great! I'm having some right now.
  20. Hi Susan, good to hear from you. YEAH on the 11 pounds. I lost 10 since I am home. Glad you are doing ok, and say hi to Lisa for us too!! What are you going to eat for your first meal? Dr. MArtinez wants me to go with watery oatmeal and flaky fish for my first, due to my vomitting issues he thinks I may still have resriction anyway. Hi iwantbanded. I was thinking of going memorial day weekend so maybe you can go then too. I used Delta and really liked them. They seem to have bigger seats. I do seem to have restriction even though I can start food this weekend. I can actually feel cery full from liquids still. Hi Mindi!! They have a special going on at the OC now. A fill under fluro, transportation and one night at the hotel for $275 I think, or somewhere around there. That might help you out. I have a memeorial day appointment set up for a fill with the OC, but didn't get plane tickets yet. Wanted to make sure they had a spot for me that day before I decide whether to go or not. I am pretty sure I am going to go anyway and If I end up not needing a fill, well then I got a small vacation outof it anyway. Hi Evette!! Thank you so much for your offer, that is very sweet of you! But, so far I am thinking of memorial day weekend so my hubby doesn't have to take off work. My mom and neice want to come too so it will be like a small vacation for us. 10 pounds is good, thats what I lost too! But, I think it will be more once you are filled. Take care all and happy dieting!!
