What's for dinner tonight?
mlgpdx replied to Musiclover's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I really like this thread. I love to see what people are eating tonight I had about 1/2 cup of chili .. then about 1/2 hour - 1hour later I had about 7-10 french onion wheat thins and dipped a couple of them in some spinach dip someone had a work. tonight at home I was in 'snacky snack" mode so I ate about 20 almonds. I also ate 4 little chocolate "bells" at work tonight. Today / tonight was definitely a "I wanna eat & I can!" night. -
congrats on your first fill JazzyJude! It's a great feeling and you are doing fabulous! Look forward to reading about your progress! Have a great day! xoxox

This is one "foreign object" I will forever leave in my body! hahahahah... maybe you don't find it as funny as I do but on a personal note I have a thing for foreign men so it struck me funny. -
What's for dinner tonight?
mlgpdx replied to Musiclover's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
It's waaay past dinner time but I just logged on.. I ate a can of progresso clam chowder. It was delish! I added some soy milk and pureed it a little only because the giant potatoes can give me problems (i don't usually /or need to/ puree my food) I needed something quick and I don't eat that many carbs so a can of clam chowder really hit the spot for me tonight! -
haha Linda you crack me up!! How could I forget the wine!!! holy crap.... please note that I forgot my "alcohol" in my daily diet list. 1. red wine 2. vodka

HI Kristy! Everyday is different but I will give you a "good" day breakfast: eas protein shake . I know.. everyone says you need to get your protein from solid foods. I rarely can eat first thing in the morning.. if/when I can I will eat 2 pieces of bacon or a small sausage link or maybe 1 scrabled egg. I also drink 1 cup of coffee w/ sugar free creamer liquid B-12 and liquid veggie/fruit vitamin snack: a few cashews/almonds lunch: on the run = pintos and cheese or 1 taco from taco bell or small chili from wendy's at home = whatever soup/chili i made for the week... snack: nuts or maybe a protein shake dinner: fish .. like talapia/salmon or some other white fish... sauteed in a little olive oil with onions and zucchini or a can of diced tomatoes. if it's a chicken night I have sauteed and simmered chicken thighs in teriyaki sauce OR diced tomatoes until the chix is falling apart. I will try and eat 1/4 cup of whole wheat couscous or sometimes I just eat more fish/chicken/protein snack: some popcorn with butter or... 1/2 cup icecream or nothing.. most nights nothing but some times I want to eat. Every month a couple days before my period I am super tight and can barely get anything down... on those days I rely on protein shakes and tomato soup. If anything I try to get more protein in my diet.. I notice when I really concentrate and make the effort to eat more protein I lose more weight and feel better. Hope this helps.

Thanks to everyone! > > Denise- yes I believe my weight loss is due to my 3rd fill in august and finally having restriction. I thought I knew what restriction was but after that fill I really knew! Once I saw more progress I worked harder and portion control/food choices and exercise. I appreciate every single comment and when I read them I feel all warm and fuzzy. xoxoxox

Welcome to the other side! We're here for you!! -
Today is a HUGE milestone for me. I weighed myself this morning and I was 199.8. This is the first time in over 20 years that I have weighed under 200lbs. I cried. As a woman who has always been fat it was a litlte overwhelming/emotional to see that I weigh under 200lbs. The band DOES work! It takes time and work but it does work! Thanks to everyone for being with me through this journey. Here's to reaching my first goal of 190 b/4 2009!

Linda girl, thanks for the hot sauce w/ lime! I opened that up tonight and went crazy when I tasted it. It's now 2 hours later and I am following up with an xtra does of liquid antacid. ha!! You are so beautiful and fun, I had a great time with you! Thanks for dropping the pants off at my house. They fit! Can't wait to see you again. Lisa BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for talking me about the band and what works and doesn't work for you. I loved that we all clicked right away and there was never a lapse in the conversation. It was great to meet you and I cannot wait for the next time when we go dancing! I promise i will find a MUCH better place! Cara Thanks for the pants, they fit! YES! A size 14 and I got them on with no problem. I had a pair exactly like it when I was a szie 22 and I mourned them when I had to give them away. I was VERY happy to see them again in a much smaller size. I'm sorry I missed the luncheon but when when bush pays the bills you gotta stay and wax it! hahaha... I look forward to the next get together, maybe we ptowners can come up north and cause some trouble. xoxoxoxo

Haley Thanks for posting, we are here for you. I know you will get many responses to this but here's my 2 cents You are right, the band is NOT a miracle and if you have a pre-conceived idea that you must lose 8-10lbs a month or you will not be happy then you are setting yourself up for failure. You don't get "banded" and then have no follow up/ upkeep.. the upkeep on the band is called "fills".. and this is what give you the restriction to be able to eat less and lose weight. When you are first banded the band is empty because your body needs time to heal. You may or may not lose weight between being banded and your first fill (6 weeks). between march 24th (banded date) and 3rd fill (august) I only lost 25lbs. Yep.. 25lbs... did I think I was a failure? Absolutely NOT! If I had NOT gotten the band I wouldve been gaining and would have been up to 300lbs. It took time for me to "get it" and by that I mean work with my band, get my portions under control, make good food choices AND my 3rd fill got me to the restriction point I needed that makes if physically impossible for me to eat more thatn 1/2 cup of food at a sitting. I don't want to sound harsh or discourgage you but PLEASE know it is NOT instant, it takes time and it takes a lot of work from YOU. I am thankful each and everyday for the band! Everyday I say a little "thanks to the universe" for my success. I'm down over 70lbs since being banded! We are all here for you and please keep your surgery date it will be the best thing you ever did. It won't be the fastest thing but it WILL work.

WOW... I always say "don't get a number stuck in your head" LOL 3.6 is WOW... when I was at 3.0 it was TOOO TIGHT and had to go down to 2.9 which is where I've been for over 3 months now and I still have wonderful restriction. It's so amazing to me how different each and every one of us is. Here's to GREAT restriction.
