  1. Hi there, I have restriction and have to be careful to chew and chew. I started a new class at my gym. It is a very good workout and I am burning about 600 calories just in that hour long class. First week I lost 5 pounds. So excited because I had hit a plateau of about 4 weeks before losing that 5lbs. So after the second week I couldn't wait to weigh. Working out, eating less, drinking lots of water.....that got me about 1/2 pound. I was feeling a lot stronger but no weight loss.. WTF!! I was pissed. So I scheduled a meeting with the owner of the gym that I workout at and he asked me about how many calories I was eating. I told him I was eating about 1100 a day. I felt like I sat down in the principals office in High school. After doing a body evaluation he explained that me just sitting doing nothing but breathing, I burn 1800 calories. The reason that I am not losing is my body is in starvation mode and is holding on the everything. So I increased my calories up to 1500 and I lost one pound on vacation not even working out. I am looking forward to this next week after i have been eating more and see where it takes me. I think that sometimes people get so focused on eating so little that they are not eating enough to fuel a human body little lone to lose weight. I am not sure if this is your problem or not but I am suppose to be eating up to 2200 calories in 10 weeks. (If I continue to workout as much as i am) So less isn't always more.
  2. Hey Michelle I have only told my husband and my mom so it is kind of a secret too. I have also had to do a few things different such as using a different dressing room when my best friend and I are trying on clothes.....getting changed for swimming in a stall instead of the open with the other ladies. I had my surgery on April 10, 08 and I am still waiting for all mine to to turn into cat scratches. there is only one that has completely disappeared. (The one on the right side) The others are pretty red and still raised a little. Mine healed nicely but are still noticeable. Good luck !! Brook
  3. Take a nice cleansing breath. You will be fine!! The OCC is very safe and clean. They give you bottled water and capri sun/broth after surgery. My hubby and I were very nervous about the same things as you (getting sick and worried that it would be dirty). He ate and drank in Mexico and didn't get sick or the runs. You will be fine! I once told some random person that I was thinking of getting the lapband and they did a similar thing. You aren't enough over weight, you don't need it, hire a trainer...etc. You can only do what is going to be right for you!! After you get there you will feel much better. I have lost 37 lbs and have not deprived myself from pretty much anything. I have had bread...more then one bite, chewed and chewed and chewed, I have also indulged in a glass of wine on more then one occasion. The band is a tool, not a fix all. It is a life style change and it's not a bad one, might I say!!! I have following the guide lines and have been working out 4-5 a week. I feel great and I am so happy that I did get the band! Good luck on Tuesday and let us know how it goes!! Brook
  4. Hey there! The trainer at the club didn't say too much, she sees me working out a lot so I don't think that she was too surprised. She did tell me for my height that I am only 1.9% away from being in the "normal" range!!! WOW! I can finally be considered normal As for the spinning class, I love it. It is very challenging but a great workout. You can also do that class at many levels. Once your butt recovers from the seat you will be wanting to go back for more!! Hanging at home doing the Carlton! Brook
  5. So back in November I went into the gym that I had a membership to and had my body fat percentage checked. It was a whooping 44%. That was one of the reasons I looked into getting the lapband. Well since then I have been banded 3 months, working out on a regular basis and started biking/spinning. I went in today and had it retaken and I was pleasantly surprised with a percentage of 25.9!!!! I was so happy with that number and I am feeling GREAT!! Just thought i would share my great news!! Much love!! Brook
  6. I really can't believe that it has been 3 months since I was doing laps around the OCC. I am glad to be able to start doing crunches and getting into the "meat" of my exercise. I can't wait to see what we all look like in another 3 months!! I am glad that you are doing well Julie! > Brook
  7. Hey Julie! I hear ya on the extras in the water!! hehe Things are really well with me. I started adding in abs on Monday to my workouts and I am feeling great!! I started a boot camp at the gym that I have been going to and I am LOVING it!! Sore, but a good sore. How are things going with you? I am getting into clothes that I was wearing before I had my 2 year old. YEAH!!! It has been slow, all of last month I went up 4 and down 4 but since i started the extra exercise it has shown on the scale in a good way. I have been a little scarce on here just because I don't need the added drama that hopefully got cleared up . Good to hear from you! Brook PS I also started taking these Access bars from melaleuca and they turn stored fat into fuel. It blocks Adenosine (a natural by-product that slows fat-burning) and gives your greater endurance. At least that I what I have found. I also like that it doesn't have high fructose corn syrup as the main ingredients as a lot of other protein bars..If anyone has questions about these bars let me know and i will be happy to tell you.. >
  8. Hey everyone! It must be in the water because I am going to sign up for a 5k run for the end of Sept. I am so excited and can't wait to cross the finish line! Good luck to all! Brook
  9. I have a great NSV.... I was in my hometown a couple of weeks back and ran into a old flame. I was dressed up for a family function and looked smokin' I walked up to him to say hello and he didn't even know who I was.....after I took my sunglasses off and told him who I was his jaw just dropped!! It was so cool! He couldn't stop looking down... :girl_dance: Also getting into a size 14/16 dress......yeah baby! Side note...I am so glad that I didn't end up with him, he looked so freaken old, shorter then I remember and just so not for me. Thank God for unanswered prayers....
  10. I have also hit a little plateau myself. I haven't lost a pound for about 2 weeks. I had my 1st fill on May 23 and have only lost 6 lbs. I know that the scale isn't moving very fast but I feel like I am losing inches. I am working out about 5-6 days a week for at least 45-1 hour at the minimum. In my case I feel like I am gaining muscle. My legs are starting to feel really solid. =D> I can't wait to start on my abs...only another 2 1/2 weeks then I am going for it!! Anyways back to the scale....I started out in a TIGHT 22 and I just bought a really cute sun dress that is a size 14/16!!! So total I have lost 30lbs with the pre-op diet but I am losing inches for sure! So don't expect a huge number from your first fill this is just a tool. Good luck with the plateau and if you find something that gets you off let me know!!! Brook
  11. Brook- You are the best!! Keep up the great work sweetie!!

  12. Lucky girl!! I can't wait for our big trip!! :lb16: Brook
  13. That is exactly what I did too! I don't think that it matters how you lose the weight just that you do. I restricted myself on my eating and started exercising more and I lost 14 lbs in about 2 1/2 weeks. The thing with me is I can lose the weight. The equation is simple eat less and exercise more. I just can't keep it off! Good job on the 9 lbs! > Brook
  14. Hey deparis! I will be getting my 1st fill on Friday so I will see you there! Good luck and looking forward to seeing you! Everything will be great! Brook >
  15. Hey Diva The very highest incision and the one on the far left side are the ones that are raised and itchy sometimes. Glad to know that I am not alone! > Brook
