  1. Welcome and congrats on your decision!! You have lots of time to read the posts here on the forum and learn all about the band and how it works....you'll be an expert by the time you have surgery. Good Luck!!
  2. Wow Flan, you have been through the ringer and still manage to be down 41 lbs. I am so glad your husband is okay, that's wicked scarey. You look fantastic!! Keep up the great work!!
  3. That's great!! I was banded in Ontario, Canada. Most of the guys and gals on this forum were banded at the OCC in Tijuana Mexico. We are one big supportive family and I know you will love it on here!
  4. Welcome Corey and congrats on getting the band!!! Did you have your surgery at The OCC? Did you meet Susanp and Oct2 and of course Bigboi? Apparently Oct 2/08 was a busy banding date. Your body is going through some major changes, be patient and if your BP gets too high be sure to contact your doctor. Good Luck with everything!!! Any questions, we are here!!
  5. Hi Trudy, like the others have said, you are being way too hard on yourself...you only 2 months out of surgery and 18 lbs is amazing!! Everyone loses at different rates and circumstances play a huge role in how it works. Make sure you get yourself a good fill, it took me 5cc in my 9cc band to really kick my weight loss in to high gear. I also use portion control, only eat the recommended foods and portions. Clean the slate and start from today. You can do this. We are always harder on ourselves and get frustrated when things don't happen as quickly or the way we expected. Only you can do something about it...kick up the exercise, change your diet plan and think positive. We are here to support you through the tough times and the good times...do not hesitate to ask for a shoulder or a hug!!
  6. Another question??? Does your restriction change at all when you are sick? I find that today I am starving every two hours....I hope I am not losing it and missed getting a fill on Wednesday..that would suck! Thanks!!
  7. Thanks Julie, I wish I could just relax and get the boys to do it all...but they are not here this weekend, my youngest son is racing motocross this weekend both days. I am feeling fine other than the sore throat and having already cleaned both the boys rooms and the bathroom, on to the kitchen and sorting the laundry, after that an afternoon nap!!
  8. Chantix sounds like just what the doctor "will" order for me. Thanks for all of the great information...I am on the road to be smoke free very soon.
  9. Hi Barb, with good restriction, what you are describing is normal. I am the same way. When I eat soft foods I can eat more and when I eat protein, like beef, turkey, pork or ham, I get full very quickly. Band erosion or slippage would prevent you from eating at all..you would PB everything including liquids. Glad you have good restriction and can't wait to see the numbers drop and new pics!!
  10. Thanks again ladies!! I went to the doctor this morning and I have a viral throat infection..got some drugs, hope they help. It's scarey when your throat is so swollen you can't swallow at all. I have a very sensitive gag reflex and the minute I put my feet on the floor this morning, I had a popcicle in my mouth to help decrease the swelling so that I would stop gagging..not fun at all. Better now!! You guys are the best..luv ya!!!
  11. Oh Cara, you are so right...Oktoberfest starts here in Kitchener, Ontario (formerly known as Berlin) next week. Lots of keg tapping and bratwurst sausage. I'm with you..no partaking this year....but I will live vicariously through my friends!! LOL!!
  12. I have tried losenges, Contac sore throat, popcicles and ice water. I woke up this morning at 6:30 a.m. and could not swallow...and my gag reflex when into overdrive....heading to the clinic this morning to have a doctor take a look. I hope it`s not strep. I will let you know what he says. You guys are truly the best of the best...thank you for all your suggestions!!
  13. Thanks Julie...I took some Contac meds and it's helping a bit...I have been gargling with anti-bacterial wash that I bought for my canker sores and it's helping too. I hope it goes away soon..I absolutely hate having a sore throat, it's the worst. I hope you are feeling better now and are able to eat something...have a great weekend!
  14. Hi Becky, I am so sorry that you had to go through such a horrible ordeal. I am sure that your case is rare, although not pleasant at all. Good luck with your recovery and your new baby!!
  15. Hi Ladies, Thanks for the suggestions...I got some Cepacol losenges and Contac Sore throat and Cold pills for night time. My throat swells during the night and I gag when I try to swallow. I have been living on popcicles and ice water all day...I am sure you are right Blazn. I have chronic sinusitis and the drip irritates my throat. I am sure it will pass. If it doesn't by Monday, I will go to the doctor for some anti-biotic liquid meds. Of course I get sick for the weekend!! Have a good weekend ladies!
  16. Hi Ladies, I was just getting over a cold and last night developed a sore throat on the left side when I swallow. Today is getting worse and with the lump that I get after eating it's becoming unbearable. I am hoping it's not strep...what can you recommend at this point, until it subsides or I see my doctor, to reduce the swelling and pain. Would liquid Advil help reduce the swelling and pain? Or any other OTC med you can recommend? Thank you!!
  17. Gas...again...I had gas trapped everywhere when I first started on solids..under my ribs was the worst. Walk or take gas-x it will help. Feel better! >
  18. That's great...wow, I would start with easy foods, that you can chew really well and get used to the routine of chewing like crazy before swallowing. I had chicken fingers w/bbq sauce and mashed potatoes. Have fun!!
  19. All the best girls!!! Be sure to let us know that all went well....take care!!!
  20. I want to welcome Jodbug65 to the forum!! Jodbug65 is from my hometown of Trenton, Ontario, Canada and is being banded in November in Mississauga...just like I was. I know she will love you guys as much as I do!! Jodbug65 come on and say hi!!
  21. Hi Alana, it's painless and no sweat...I hope you have a good experience. Let us know how it goes!!
  22. That's so cool...it's a done deal....you will do amazing..I can't wait to see your progress, when do you start pre-op. We are here for you...all the best!!!
  23. Congratulations!! Welcome to band-land!!!! Please say hello to Susanp and Oct2 for us!!! Take care and get some rest!!
  24. That's fantastic....I never thought of it that way...so glad you brought this to our attention. I guess I am in the same situation...not 100 lbs overweight anymore...cool!!!
  25. Wow! That's so un-freaken-believable....how can a doctor treat anyone like that. I wouldn't go back either. That's so disgusting...can he be reported to anyone? I hope you find somewhere else to go....take care!
