  1. Hi Kim, have you checked into any Bariatric clinics in the Toronto area that do fills? I know my clinic in Mississauga does not, but there are others. Good Luck!
  2. I have been banded 3 months now...and I've had one PBing episode and two fills. I have great restriction right now. I was thinking to myself last night at dinner, wow eating and chewing is becoming such a chore. I eat healthy meals, last night I cooked a turkey roll, roasted potatoes, corn and tossed salad. I chewed and chewed the turkey, by the time I wanted some veggies and potatoes, I was tired and really didn't want to eat COLD food. Yes, by the time I finish my meat, the rest of the food on my plate is always cold. But, I am not complaining, I love the results!! I used to inhale my food and eat 3-4 times as much as I can now. I can't believe how I have changed...food is for nutrition only now...I have lost the ability and gradually losing the desire to eat like I used to. YEH FOR THE BAND!!! Thanks for letting me share!
  3. That's great for you! Don't postpone your first fill if you have no restriction. If you are using more willpower than bandpower, get the fill. I thought the same thing, went for my surgical f/up appt, didn't need a fill, but one week later restriction was gone and I was hungry 24/7 for three weeks, not fun!
  4. Congrats to you and your hubby on your surgery date...all the best!!
  5. That's freakin' amazing, wow, good for you!!!
  6. Hi Stormy, First of all, take a deep breath!! Everything is going to be okay. Your son will do fine and both you and your husband need this time away to reconnect and take care of yourselves. Being nervous is normal, but you have nothing to worry about...it's the most exciting time in your lives, try to enjoy it!!! Have a safe trip and be sure to let us know how you both are doing okay! Take care!
  7. Hi Taz, I am from Ontario, Canada...and I find my support network right here, and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Good Luck!
  8. Hi there, we all understand what you are going through, we've all been there. Congrats on your surgery!! I wish I was in Hawaii, but I am not, I live in Canada. We are here to support you from all over the U.S., Canada and abroad. Try to follow the plan set out by your surgeon, protein, veggies, grains and fruit and if you need to snack, chose 100 calorie snacks. Good Luck!
  9. Hi Francie, My daily usually consists of the following: Breakfast: Muslix Apple Crisp cereal w/skim milk or English muffin toasted w/ ham Lunch: Turkey, chicken or beef, green beans/green salad, rice (usually leftovers from prev.nite's dinner) Dinner: Chicken, fish, turkey, filet mignon Salad/Green beans, cauliflower (any veggie, green is best) Rice or potato If I need a snack, I have sugarfree pudding, popcicle, fudgecicle or Pringles light (17 chips) Protein, veggie, grain and fruit, chose and eat in that order and you will do great!
  10. So glad to hear that you are all okay, I have seen the mess on the news. Clean up with take awhile I guess. Take care and be safe!
  11. Wow, I think a couple of you are worse off than I am. I do go everyday in the morning, but not much, that's my concern. I think I will get a stool softener or something to clean me out, there's probably 5 lbs backed up in there!! LOL!! Thanks everyone for your support!!
  12. That's great!! I went through the same thing! Keep up the great work!!
  13. I just ordered the Core Rhythm series of CDs to dance off the pounds. Has anyone tried this? If not, once they arrive, I will let you how they are.
  14. Hi there, congrats on your upcoming surgery, dates sure come up quickly!! Post op you will need, broth, tea, popcicles, jello, lots of water for the first week. Week two and three : creamy soups, no chunks, yogurt drinks, protein shakes, fudgecicles, any non-clear liquid that will pass through a straw. A good hand blender or bullet would help too. Best of Luck, you will do great!!! Be sure to let us know how things go!!
  15. Welcome Dapzilla!! Congratulations on your decision, you will so happy you did it! Keep in touch and let us know how everything goes and of course if you have any questions at all, just ask!!
  16. You may want to contact Dr.Ortiz to answer this question. Good Luck!
  17. I received your friend request but don't know who you are??? Thanks
  18. Welcome and I hope you decide to go for it! It is the best decision I have ever made for my health. I was banded in Canada by a great surgeon, but have heard amazing things about Dr.Ortiz at the OCC. I had my surgery on June 10th and from pre-op to now, I have lost 46lbs and the best part is that they are gone for good!!! If you have any more questions, we are all here for you, you will love this forum, we are like family. Good Luck!
  19. Hi mailmom, I understand your frustration, I too had no change in restriction from my first fill. My surgeon advised that it can take 3-4 fills before you hit your "sweetspot". I have had my second and restriction so far is really good. Try not to be discouraged. Is there a fill centre closer to home that may not be as costly? Good Luck!
  20. Thanks Dawn, I drink water constantly, so I think I am getting enough, I think I will try a cleanser to help flush myself out and start fresh!!
  21. Yes it's normal, gas gets trapped all over the place, I get back pain after eating as well. You are doing great, keep it up!!
  22. Whooo Linda you are lookin' hot yourself, wow, good work!!
  23. Thanks Ladies! I don't feel bloated at all, I just feel that I am not going enough, there should be more in there! LOL!! I will give Benefiber another try and if that doesn't work, a softener is next on the list. Have a great weekend everyone!
  24. Julie's right, this is the healing phase and try not to focus on weight loss...you need to get nutrition in. Once you have your first fill, then you start calorie counting and portion control. You have done well, keep it up!!
  25. Really??? That doesn't sound right at all!! Look at LisaL, she did fantastic from 285 to 140...and the band worked for her?? I think doctors have many different opinions about the band. Don't let what he said discourage you. Take care Kim.
