  1. Wow good for you!! 25 lbs is amazing...not the easy way though! Your weight will fluctuate until your first fill. Portion control and calorie counting will help until then. Try not to stress about it...it's early in the process. Good Luck!
  2. Wow Stormy, that was so moving, I was teary too. I have a brother and brother-in-law in the Canadian Forces and they have done Afganistan. We need to support our troops, they are just doing their jobs, regardless of how they feel about the war. Thanks for sharing!
  3. Oh yes yes, it's totally normal, my tummy was swollen for weeks, it will go back to normal eventually. Remember, you were blown up with air for the surgery, cut in 5 places, swelling is bound to happen. Relax and rest, everyone heals at different rates, it took me a month to feel like my old self again. Take care!
  4. That is so cool...I watched the tummy tuck video, really informative!! You always find the greatest info!! Thanks !
  5. Hi there, so happy to hear that you are on the other side! Welcome to BANDLAND!!! Gas pains will subside, drink slowly, sip, sip, sip..gulps will cause more gas build up in your chest...you can gulp later. Walk too, it helps the gas move up and out. Take care and let us know when you get home!
  6. Hi Phoenix, I hope the testing comes back okay. I had hypothyroidism for years after my second son was born and took meds, my metabolism slowed right down and hence I put on alot of weight. Losing weight was at a snails pace. It has since leveled out on it own. If it's hyperthyroidsim, your metabolism may increase. Take care and keep us in the loop!
  7. It could be gas, keep an eye on it, if it doesn't go away or gets worse go see a doctor. Is your blood pressure ok?
  8. That's a good question, compare your healthy dinner to a lean cuisine for carbs, fat, protein etc. From what I have seen, the standard pre-op diet is two shakes and a lean cuisine per day, no snacks indicated. The goal is to reduce the amount of fat in your liver to ensure it can be moved laproscopically during surgery. My surgeon told me not to focus on weight loss, just follow the plan. Sometimes fat reduction internally does not really show up on the scale. Too many carbs convert to fat, be careful.
  9. Yuuuuummmmmyyyyyy!!! Phoenix you are just mean to me!!! LOL!!!
  10. It's actually funny to read some of the postings made right after surgery, the spelling is really bad and it sounds like they are totally out of it!! LOL!!
  11. I can understand how tempting it is to want real food, but you need to follow the plan set out by your surgeon, creamy soups or foods that will go through a straw. No chunks or thick substances. This is the time your band/stomach needs to heal and the foods need to be as light as possible to avoid problems. You only have 8 days to go...you can do it!!!
  12. Thanks everyone. I like to throw my water bottles in the freezer to get them really, it's really the only way I can drink my water in large doses. Otherwise I sip and don't get the required amount in. Today it seems fine. I think my pouch may have been full from dinner and the extra water was too much too soon. I did wait the hour, but sometimes when I get the lump in my throat, I need to wait longer. Have a great day!
  13. Kimmie and I must have dirty minds!! LOL!! Good for you! You made it...that's amazing...enjoy your food! Chew well!
  14. Hi Kimmy, My surgeon told me that if I am using more willpower than bandpower to control my eating, then it's fill time. If you are still feeling restriction after eating only 3/4 cup of food per sitting, you are probably okay and may need to change it up, with more protein and exercise. If you are not feeling full after 3/4 of food, get a fill! Have a great day!
  15. I am sorry you are feeling down...like the others said, you need another fill, my second is a charm. Take Stormy's advice and try to find someone else who can accomodate you sooner...good luck!!
  16. Thanks Pammie, how was it? Really painful?
  17. Hi Karen, Solids are going down fine, I feel full for a long time, but the last couple of times I have drank ice water, I find I slime, maybe it's too cold? I have had no PBing at all since my second fill, although my chicken got a little stuck at dinner and I stopped eating and it went down okay.
  18. Too funny, I suspected something like that. I knew Jessica was home and Heidi was having surgery. Good call MamaMichelle!!
  19. I love ice cold water and since my second fill, I am finding that when I start drinking water, one hour after a meal. I slime. Is this unusual? Does it mean my fill is too tight? Thanks!
  20. Hi Dianna, that's a great question. I am not an "experienced" bandster, but I did just get my second fill. I have good restriction now too. I have been losing weight all along, but I have plateaued for the last two weeks and found that portion control and food choices make the difference in starting the weight loss again. I have been eating high protein meals and I see the scale gradually starting to move. However, I feel it in my clothes more. Change it up, more protein, veggies and exercise to kickstart it again!! Good Luck!
  21. I would like to hear from those who have had a tummy tuck and when you had it. I know that LisaL had hers when she hit 200 lbs and it excelerated her weight loss and resulted in her amazing transformation. Can you tell me if you waited until you reach your goal or did it before? Thanks!
  22. I have a prescription for B12 injections, but have not gone yet. I use Jamieson B12 Desolvable strips and take one daily.
  23. This procedure is not a quick fix, it's as permanent as the band can be. It's inserted into your stomach for long term weight loss. I read about it when I was researching lapband. Be patient, I know you want this now, but healing and working with your band takes time!
  24. Hi there, don't panic, I know you are anxious to get the weight loss under way, but losing weight between you surgery and your first fill is a bonus. My surgeon told me not to expect it, but considering the fact that I was on liquids and mushy foods for 5 weeks, it was inevitable and I lost about 20 lbs. I hit the 40lbs mark about two weeks ago, 2 1/2 months post-op with one fill. Don't starve yourself to get there, your body will go into starvation mode and hold onto the lbs. Deep breath and relax!! You will do just great, take your time and stay on the prescribed diet and it will happen. Good Luck!
