  1. Hi there, I eat caesar salad, mixed green salad, green beans, corn, cauliflower, you can have any veggie you like, just chew really well. Same with fruit, pineapple was on the list to avoid, but you can anything else, chew well. I personally eat very little fruit, high in natural sugar, I get in yogurt or fruit bars. Cancer, I haven't heard anything about this linked to the band, do you have more info on this?
  2. Hi Mrs. Smoother, Most of the people on this forum were banded at the OCC in Tijuana Mexico, they host this website. I was banded in Canada and there are a handful of people banded in various states throughout the U.S. So when they mention flying out for fills, they are most likely going back to Tijuana to the OCC for them with their surgeon there.
  3. Best of luck on your trip and with your surgery, you will do great! Try not to overthink it and get yourself worked up, you can do this!! It will honestly be the best thing you've ever done!! Keep in touch!
  4. Hi Mrs. Smoother, gas is more than normal, postop and for the rest of your life. The gas pains will subside in time, but the gas after meals doesn't. You will be a very musical person from now on!
  5. Hi Jessica, glad to hear you made it home safely. Take NicoleK's advise. Make you drink lots and rest. Do not count calories or portions for the next 3 weeks, just get better! Take care.
  6. That's good news Kim, please keep us up to date on how you are doing!
  7. Hi TRS, I too struggled with not being able to eat some of the foods I love, I ate KFC chicken once a week before banding...but since a few bites the chicken and a major PBing episode (at work no less) I can't even look at it. I am disappointed and thankful, it's crap anyway. I am doing so much better controlling what I put in my mouth and how much. I look at every label before I buy it...I was never like that, I just grabbed what looked good. It's alot of brain training. Not that I don't have a treat once in awhile, fries and chips are my weak spot. But it's all in moderation and if I think it's going to sabbotage my weight loss, I won't have it. It's a lifestyle change and it takes time...I am going to live my life keeping in mind right now that I want to lose weight, but if I deprive myself completely, I will fail. Good Luck!!
  8. Wow Stormy, you did great!!! You are so beautiful, I can't wait to see more!!
  9. Thanks! My son has a PS2, on my list for tommorrow!
  10. I was looking on-line and plan to treat myself to Wii Fit and was wondering about Wii Dance. Has anyone tried it?

  12. Thanks Sylvia, you are doing great too!! We are going to be a forum full of hotties very soon!!!
  13. Thanks Denise, portion control is what I use inbetween fills. I have developed willpower all of a sudden with the band, I guess the pricetag might have something to do with it! LOL!! I have gone through too much to fail this time. Second fill is working like a charm so far!!
  14. Hi Elainad, my doctor told me not to change my eating habits before the fill, but afterwards I am on three days of mushy/soft foods. Good Luck with your fill!!
  15. I hope you are right Stormy and the bonding of going on this journey will help your relationship. Thinking of you both!!
  16. Great List MamaMichelle. You mean to tell me I weigh more than Arnold Schwarzenegger!!! AHHHH!! For now!
  17. That's amazing! Love it! I am striving towards losing my 16 year old son, current weight 145 lbs!
  18. It's amazing when you think of weight loss in terms of objects, like Oprah did when he brought out her wagon of fat after losing a ton of weight. I'll start. I have lost 4 10lb bags of potatoes and 3 lbs of butter. Your turn.
  19. Congratulations on your surgery!! I was banded in Canada on June 10th and had a very similar pre-op diet. Best of Luck on your new life!!
  20. For creamy soup stage, use Cream of Cheddar soup, it much more nutrious and tastes better than Cheese Whiz. I used to live on Cheez Whiz sandwiches on white bread myself....but it really it processed chemicals and I won't eat it anymore.
  21. Thanks everyone! I truly feel like a new person, image when I reach my goal?? I have set a goal to reach my 50 lbs mark by September 15/08. Have a great weekend!
  22. Hi there and welcome!!! I will tell you honestly, it no walk in the park, but the rewards outweight the negative. If you are ready for a complete lifestyle change, you are ready for lapband surgery. I researched all WLS options and even though gastric bypass and duodenal switch surgery are covered by our Provincial healthcare, I chose to pay on my own for Lapband surgery and it was the BEST decision I have ever made for my health. I was banded in Ontario, Canada on June 10th. I started my pre-op diet on May 27th for two weeks and it was difficult, but it's temporary and we have all done it or are about to. Post op recovery was not unusual. Major surgery takes time to recover from, there was some discomfort in my port area for about 4 weeks, nothing major, I returned to work 6 days after surgery and I was fine. The liquid post-op diet is fine, make sure you have lots of choices and do not count calories or quantities during this time, you are healing and need nutrition. Once you start on solids, you do need to count calories and portions until your first fill. I lost 12 lbs pre-op, 20 lbs post op before my first fill 5 weeks after surgery. So if you add that up, I lost 32 lbs in 7 weeks, not too shabby!! I am down 43 lbs now in three months and I am thrilled at how great I feel, I have about 100 to go and believe me this is the most exciting time of my life!! I wish you much luck with your decision and if you have any other questions, just ask. This forum is amazing, the people will be become your family and provide you with a kick in the butt when you need one and full support always!! Take care!
