  1. Hi Erin, I did get a second fill on Wednesday and oh my goodness it's kicked in bigtime!!! I could barely eat yesterday and woke up starving in the middle of the night, did not eat, but should have. I woke up really dizzy, I think my sugar was low, I ate something quick and the dizziness started to improve. I am barely able to eat a thing, which I guess it what we want, but it concerns me, that I am not able to get in even a decent amount of nutritionist food. I guess I will be doubling up on vitamins! I feel okay now and will monitor it. Thanks for asking!
  2. Okay, I know this is what we demand as a bandster, but wholly cow, I can barely eat a thing. I was able to eat an english muffin w/sausage this morning, about 5 bites of chicken at lunch and 1 chicken fajita for dinner and wow, major restriction. I chew chew chew until it's liquid, I am so afraid of another PBing episode, so far so good. I need to retrain my brain again to stop when I'm full....that is the hardest part of all this...a plate of food, take a few bites and want more, but can't. Cross your fingers it stays for awhile and I can get back to being a loser!! Have a great weekend everyone!
  3. Hi Vix, so glad to hear from you and that you are an official "bandster" or "bandito" as my hubby would say!! So happy all went well and you are on the other side. Take care and get some rest. P.S. We also heard from Jessica and she is doing well too!!! I hope you got a chance to meet one another.
  4. I feel for you Stormy...being overweight turns you into a totally different person. Before I made my decision I was 285 at 5 feet...I ached and had trouble doing the little things without getting winded. Would it beneficial for him to come onto the forum to read some of the posts? Maybe it will encourage him to talk to you and maybe this common band bond that you will have, will bring you back together as a couple, as parents. Good luck to you, I don't envy how difficult your day to day life must be. We are here to support you!
  5. Hi Jessica, I am so happy to hear that all went well, you are experiencing normal post op symptoms, it will pass soon. Rest and recover and WELCOME TO BANDLAND!!!!! Take care sweetie!!!
  6. That's great news....I had my second fill on Wednesday and oh man oh man..did it kick in today...I have been barely able to eat at all before the lump in my throat appears. I can't to see some results from you!!!
  7. Good for you!!! That's amazing!! Yesterday I glanced a my driver's license picture that was taken in May and OMG what difference in my face...it's cool!!!! Keep up the great work!
  8. Congratulations!!! That's fabulous!!! You are doing amazing...new goal dress to buy I guess..LOL!!!
  9. Wow that's amazing!!! 45 min surgery and up and walking by noon!!! They must be doing something differently at the OCC than here in Canada. My surgery was 90 minutes and I was in recovery for 2 hours, could barely walk to the bathroom. Down and out for 4 days. If this was my first surgery I could see how it might be more difficult to recover from, but it's my 6th surgery in my abdominal area. I am so happy you are doing well!!!!
  10. This is one of the nicest posts I have read in a very long time, be sure you let you wife read it!! She's a lucky lady!
  11. My hubby and I lost the spark there for awhile and fought alot about the kids...my son had behavioural problems and it made homelife hell for awhile. We went to marriage counselling and what we found out was that we had lost the "couple" part of the family. We were so involved in being parents, we forget about "us". So the counsellor suggest going on dates. So we did, sometimes we just say, "okay boys, Dad and I are going out for dinner, what can we bring back for you?"...we don't invite them to come, because we want time to ourselves. We talk and laugh and just have our time. We also re-kindled our sex life by adding some toys to the mix. And let me tell you...it works!!!
  12. Thanks Trina, I had a english muffin with sausage on it this morning and it helped. Here in Canada we have a nationwide recall on processed foods right now due to a Listera outbreak. They have taken almost all processed meats off the shelves. I am avoiding them until things are under control. The Listera bacteria can kill and has killed about 17 people and made dozens sick...it takes 70 days to incubate and causes a deadly paracite to invade your immune system. Have a great weekend!!
  13. Thanks Linda, that's my next treat!!!
  14. Thanks everyone, I feel better now, it lunchtime here. I had a high protein breakfast and some sugar...I don't think I ate enough yesterday either...on mushy food after my fill and tend to eat less to avoid PBing. I will keep on eye on my calorie intake and vitamins and if it continues I will see my doctor. Have a great weekend...here in Canada it's along weekend, Labour Day! Kids return to school on Tuesday, yah!!!
  15. Congratulations!! That's awesome!! You are a true inspiration!!!
  16. Lisa and Erin are so right. A strong marriage can withstand alot of ups and downs, including weight. A solid foundation is key to working through any of life's challenges including WLS. My husband wants me to be successful, on my own. He would never sabatoge my goal or be-little me in anyway. I look better now than I have in 10 years and I am only 1/4 of the way. He loves my changing body and we have a deal. He has to tell me every morning when I bend over the sink to brush my teeth, that my butt is getting smaller, whether it is or not!!! Humour, Love and Acceptable of one another for the good and bad...is key to a lasting relationship.
  17. Question: Could be a dumb one at that....is Wii fitters a game for the Wii? If I were to buy the Wii game system (which we prev. did and then sold it), what are the names of the best exercise or workout type games? Thanks!
  18. Phoenix, you are too funny!!! I laughed out loud when I read this....are you kidding me???!!! No I am not pregnant and there is absolutely no chance of that. I am going to get some gatorade and see if that helps. I have been eating well, but find that when I don't eat much, I can't seem to get everything I need into me. I do taken multi-vitamins and B12. Maybe I just need a day off!!! Thanks!
  19. Last night I woke up about 1 a.m. to use the washroom and took a few sips of water, my stomach went off the deep end, growling and stirring and making alot of noise. I was literally starving. I did not eat, went back to bed. It took me a good hour to fall asleep because of the discomfort. This morning I sat up in bed, step on the floor and nearly fell over, wicked dizzy!!! I held onto the wall to get myself to the washroom and still I was spinning. I ate a granola bar, thinking maybe my sugar is low, it helped a bit. I was concerned about driving to work, so I just took my time and it seemed to get a bit better. I am at work now and still feel foggy. Has anyone experienced this...and found out why it may be happening?
  20. Good for you MamaMichelle. I had my second fill on Wednesday, don't really feel any different. Woke up this morning really dizzy, not sure why, eating tons of protein this morning and taking my vitamins. Good Luck and I hope this one is the one!!
  21. Hi Stormy, I am so sorry to hear that you and your hubby are struggling, but unfortunately it's a true reality. When I was researching WLS, they clearing noted that one of the casualties of WLS is that the other spouse fears that the spouse that had WLS will leave them for something better and it causes friction in the relationship. My husband is a little heavy now too, could stand to lose about 75 lbs and we have made a deal, that he needs to lose this weight by the time I meet my goal. He agreed, but it will be much more difficult for him because he has to use stricly willpower. I am one of the lucky ones, I know my husband loves me for who I am, not how much I weigh. We have a really good relationship, not that we don't have arguments, we do, mostly because of the kids, never about weight. I was 140lb when we married 19 years ago and I have been up and down throughout the 21 years we've been together. This year I reached my highest at 285 lbs and he still couldn't keep his hands off me. He was totally supportive of my decision to have the WLS even though he said I didn't need to do it, because he loved me the way I was. I told him it was for me. My thoughts are with you and those who are struggling with their relationship right now.
  22. Good to hear from you WillT...you lucky boy you!!!!
  23. I realize it's tough, but you need to take control of your own goals. Go shopping with your Mom and chose the groceries that you need. Did you pay for the surgery or your parents? Either way, it's a costly investment in your future health and maybe sitting down with your Mom and talking about how you feel and what your goals are, might help. Good luck and take charge!!
  24. You have an amazing attitude, considering what you have to face. You will do just great with the band and being a happier, healthier Mom. If it's meant to work, it will, if not this is the beginning of the rest of your wonderful life. Keep strong and we are here for you!!
  25. Hi there, congrats on your surgery and weight loss...like Pheonix said 1700 calories is not a big deal, not great for everyday though. If you feel that you need a fill, call the doctor. It doesn't hurt to talk to him and maybe he'll move it up for you. My surgeon says that if I am using more willpower than band power, to call for a fill. Good luck!
