  1. Welcome and congrats on your decision to get the band! I was banded in Canada on June 10th. I was in pain for the first 3-4 days, there would have been no possible way to return to work. I took 6 days off and although I was tired, which is normal after any surgery, I was able to perfrom an office job. If you have a job more intensive than that, you may want to book more time off, just incase you need it. Best of Luck to you!!
  2. Hi Erin, I have had one fill and restriction comes and goes, my surgeon told me to judge it this way...if you are using more willpower than band to control the portions you are eating, to get another fill. I have another scheduled for this coming Wednesday. If you feel you need it now, book it now!
  3. Alana, you are getting hit with the storms we have had this summer, not fun!! Be safe and get some rest!
  4. Congrats on your decision!! Best of luck with your surgery...the pre-op is tough, but it's temporary and you will get through it, we all did!!! Be sure to keep us up to date on how you are doing and if you have any questions at all, we're here!!!
  5. Harmony Herb, you are so right, when I was researching WLS surgery they said that the biggest casualty to the weight loss is failed marriage due to jealously of the other spouse. They tend to start puttng down the spouse who has lost the weight to play with their self-esteem and to keep them close to home. Luckily my husband is not one of those, he loved me thin, he loves me heavy and will love me thin again. He's not a thin person himself, needs to lose about 75 lbs...I told him that we need to shrink together, we'll see if that happens.
  6. Deep breath and try not to get stressed, weight loss and restriction comes with our fill. Have you booked a fill yet? This process takes time, it's not a race, we have the rest of our lives to accomplish our goal, be strong!!!
  7. Welcome!!! Congrats on your decision! You will find tons of info and support right here! Great to meet you!
  8. I have Lapband for Life and Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery. I haven't read Lapband for Life yet, but I love the cookbook!!!
  9. Lisa is right, alcoholism is an addiction, as food is. Three DUIs is very serious and it will be court's decision as to what they will do to him or for him. He needs in-house addiction therapy to finally beat this disease, anything else is not going to work at this stage. If you and your family have any influence at all on the court's decision, it should be in-house therapy instead of jail. I feel for you. I worked in the court system for over 10 years and saw real family heartbreak. I wish you and your family well.
  10. Congratulations Alana!! I am so glad all went well and you are feeling good! Cheers to a new healthier, thinner and happier life!!! Take care

    VERY HURT

Lisa is absolutely bang on...men can be asses and cry babies and selfish. I have been married for 19 years, with my hubby 22 years and we have had our ups and downs for sure, but I am a strong personality and he's not. He knows that if I want something, it's going to happen, like my lapband surgery. He knew better not to talk me out of it, because once I made up my mind to do it, it's getting done. Be strong for yourself and your kids, you have a huge life event coming up and being happier and healthier will certainly benefit you and your kids. Take care!
  12. Oh Julie, that sucks! I hope you feel better soon. I found even before the band that salad/veggies gave me terrible gas pains. I tend to eat salad or veggies at lunch time instead of dinner. Be well!!!
  13. Hi Heidi, what you are feeling is totally normal, I cried uncontrollably on day 3, I thought I would never make it, but I did, and you can too! It's temporary, think of it that way, get different diet meals to change it up and honestly you will survive. Try not to think about what you are giving up...I did the same thing after booking my consultation, I ate everything I could get my hands on and then Kim2Slim gave me some great advice. I shouldn't think that way, I can eat whatever I want after the surgery, but in moderation. There are foods that will not agree with us, and you adjust to living without them, we all have. Remember, you are not alone, we have been through this, are going through this, or will be....and we are here to support you!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!! (((HUGS)))

    VERY HURT

Oh my, I am sure you are in pain right now. I am sorry that things are not working out as you planned. If you truly feel that he is having an affair and not being true to you, it might be one of the reasons he picks fights the minute he sees you, so he can justify leaving you or you leaving him. I wish you all the best and hope you do what you need to do for you! You need support that is unconditional when you embark on this life style change. Good Luck to you and please keep in touch on how you are doing!
  15. Wow, I hope you got exactly what you need to finish off a great year!! You have done amazing and will be at goal in no time!! Have fun shopping!!
  16. You are looking hot!!! Keep up the great work!!
  17. I told my doctor right after I booked the surgery date and he was very happy that I was taking control of my health. He was extremely supportive. I felt so much better keeping him in the loop. He said that if I needed anything, he would be available. They also have a nutritionist on staff that I can talk to anytime, which is great too. Their receptionist had the band done in October and had lost 60 lbs (June), so I am very pleased with my healthcare support system. Whatever your doctor, your husband or your mother. etc thinks of this procedure is not relevent. If you are comfortable with your decision, just do it!!
  18. It's one bad week out of the rest of your life. You admit it and feel remorse, it's time to get back on track. You can do this....be strong!!!!
  19. Walking, arm and leg workouts only...no ab work for 3 months.
  20. Best of Luck with your surgery, it's an amazing feeling to think to the future as a thinner person...it's so exciting. I have lost 41 lbs since May 27th and feel so different, I have over 100 lbs left to lose, but feel like a thinner person already. You will do great!!!
  21. You are so right Vix. I joined in March, made my decision in April and had surgery in June. This was the best thing that could have happened to me. I joined another forum as well, but it did not have the family atmosphere that this one does and it was more difficult to navigate. Like I always say, you guys are the best friends I have never met!!!
  22. Good for you!!!! I have pics like that too...one sits on my desk at work....so when I feel tempted...I just look at how fat my face used to be and say..it's not worth it!!!
