You are doing amazing...my surgeon told me that PBing is caused by eating too fast, not chewing enough or eating foods that are too greasy. If I follow his guidelines, I should never PB. However, I did, because of KFC fried chicken at our work picnic earlier this week...I learned my lesson. Keep up the great work!!!

How much excess skin do you really have?
Kittycat replied to BrooklynIrish59's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Unfortunately, I am the same boat, I am 45 years old and have alot of extra weight around the tummy, I have alot of weight to lose and I am preparing for a tummy tuck in about a year. You have done amazing with your weight loss, good for you!!! Best of Luck!! -
Have a great holiday Julie, I hope the weather is good for you!! I am just going to relax this weekend, do some house cleaning and enjoy Sunday to myself. My husband and sons are going up north for the day, my sons are racing motocross. They would love for me to go, but it's best I don't. I am afraid they will get hurt and I will freak out and sell the bikes...so it's best that Mom's stays home. Take care and safe trip!

Had My Surgery on Monday 18th!!! Now I'm Starving
Kittycat replied to FRANCIE's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Welcome back and glad all went well...you are still recovering from major surgery, so take your time and rest. Drink everything in sight, whenever you feel like it, do not limit portions or calories during healing. Keep up your strength and take your vitamins, you will feel good as new in no time! All the best! -
Yea...I'm back, my internet provider got all situated
Kittycat replied to dianna's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hi Dianna, welcome back! Glad to hear that all is going well for you! I do the exact same thing, I have had one fill, I have 4cc in my 9cc band and restriction comes and goes. I set my plate with the correct portions and only eat that, I often stop eating, even though I don't feel full, just because willpower tells me to. I have my second fill next Wednesday, so I am hoping to hit the sweetspot soon! Keep up the great work! -
I had my surgery in Ontario, Canada and I did have post-op pain and was basically in bed for 3 days...not until day 4 did I feel semi-normal. I walked like an 80 year old woman for a few days and had my hand on my port scar for weeks to protect it, it was very tender for about a month. Needless to say, I wasn't up shopping the next day. Everyone is different when it comes to healing...today might be painful, but tommorrow better. I have had several surgeries including gallbladder removal surgery and thought it would compare, both were laproscopic, but the lapband surgery recovery was different and took a bit longer. I was back to work in 6 days and feeling a bit tired but good, and you will too! Take care and get some rest, drink your fluids and get lots of sleep.

No you won't get in trouble for not losing weight. My surgeon told me not to expect weight loss between surgery and my first fill, but on the post-op diet, I lost 20 lbs...you have done well too!! I would be very proud of that. The weight loss begins after your first fill, you eat according to the plan and count the calories, protein grams, fiber and fat and exercise. You will do just fine! Good luck tommorrow!!! It's painless.

Eat before or after workout?
Kittycat replied to trs893's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
That's a good question, I only have time to exercise in evening about an hour after dinner, drink a bottle of water and then workout for 30 minutes. I would think, eat first, exercise after. -
Kimmie you look absolutely fantastic!! I am so proud of what you have accomplished, you are truly an inspiration!! I can't wait to see you in the size 10 jeans...go girl!!

I didn't know we had to avoid Ibuprofen, did they say why? I take advil all the time for headaches...tylenol just wasn't working.

Wow, congrats on your surgery date, I was banded in Ontario, Canada. My pre-op diet was different than those of the OCC. But from what I have read here, slimfast or other protein shake for breakfast and lunch and a Lean Cuisine or Smart One for dinner and drink lots of water and you will lose a few lbs to get you kicked started. Best of Luck and be sure to let us know how things go!

Phone call with Dr. Miranda
Kittycat replied to cckcsharp's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Wow, you are doing amazing on your weight loss...I am not sure what the expectations of the doctors at OCC are, but my surgeon was concerned about reducing the fat in my liver, not necessary losing lbs. They told me that as long as I followed pre-op diet, it would do what was necessary to reduce the liver and they did not focus on lbs at all. I lost 12 lbs pre-op from 280 to 268 and everything went very well. Take a breath and revisit the information you originally sent to her and she provided to you and send her a message with the details. I am sure everything will be just fine!!! (((HUGS))) -
Old Navy order came today
Kittycat replied to Kim2BSlim's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion

I have to go anyway, it's my monthly post op check up...and when I made the appt, I had no restriction...shhhh mum's the word. Kim: I have two boys too and when they are good they are angels...when they are bad, they are the devil....I hear ya!!!

Where's the missing 0.6cc?
Kittycat replied to Phoenix's topic in Fill Doctors & Fill Trips to Tijuana
Hi Pheonix, I was thinking about that too...I haven't had that problem yet, but wonder if because it's liquid being injected, does it evaporate? Maybe a question for the doctors. -
Thanks Kim...you sneaky little vixen you!!! Love the pics of the kids, they are so sweet!!!
-
Now I know how frustrating it can be...I have heard it for months and now I am lucky enough to experience it! After my PBing episode on Tuesday I have had major restriction...and you know what will happen...I will get to the surgeon's office (an hour's drive away and time off work) and he won't give me a fill and the minute I leave, my restriction will be gone! AHHHHH!!! I want off this rollercoaster ride....right now!!!!

questions on pre-op diet
Kittycat replied to doinitagann's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Here are some answers to your questions. So I have been doing the preop and have a few questions. 1) is coffee okay?-maybe with some cream-----low fat, no fat cream/milk 2) what about soda? ---yes, but it is a diaretic which cancels out the water you drink and prevents weight loss 3) what would be a realistic protein amount for the shakes? is ensure high protein okay (12g)? ---yes, the more protein, the better. 4) Can I add ketchup or sour cream to my lean cuisine? ----ketchup is sugar and sour cream is a no-no unless it's no fat. 5) Am I freaking going to survive this? ---YES YOU WILL!!! You have an advantage of my pre-op diet. I was banded in Canada and my pre-op diet consisted of 4 Optifast shakes per day only, no food...and they tasted like crap. You can do this and you will be successful...stick to the plan and drink lots of water and you will be successful!! Best of Luck! -
I agree with Maxibaby, avoid fatty/fast foods, they are full of fat and preservatives. Drink lots of water and swim. I eat protein, lots of it through meat and veggies and that's all. If I snack is sugar free pudding, popcicles or fudgecicles. Not to say that I don't eat what I enjoy, I do, once in awhile. Good Luck, you can do this!!!!
-
It's funny, I did not feel any restriction from my first fill for quite awhile and now since my PB episode on Tuesday, I am feeling restriction again and the lump in my throat. I am trying really hard to understand how unpredictable the band can be????? Oh well, I will take the restriction while I have it and avoid PBing like the plague! Thanks everyone for your support! Luv you guys!

That's great news, glad all went well!!!
