  1. Oh yes yes yes....I went out for dinner with a friend, even before my fill and ordered a steak, baked potato and veggies and I ate about 5-6 bites of steak, a few veggies, 2 bites of potato and left the rest. Oh, did I want more!!! But I was so full, I just couldn't. Dinner out is becoming a waste of food, so either it's appetizers now (which don't give you many healthy choices) or making dinner at home. It's hard leaving food on your plate...I am not used to that!! I am happy I can, but need to adjust big time!!
  2. Congratulations..it's almost here!!! Best of Luck and let us know how everything goes!! Safe travels!
  3. Thanks gals!! I am leaving Saturday to go up to a cottage we rent every year in Peterborough, Ontario right on Rice Lake. It's gorgeous up there. The cottage is modern with all the amenities including air conditioning and it has an inground pool. I love to relax by the pool and barbeque. I will return on Aug 16th and miss the forum terribly!! I am now addicted to the forum more than food..this is a good thing!!LOL!! Take care!
  4. Well it's been a week and I think my fill is finally kicking in...shhh don't want to jinx it!! I had a wholewheat english muffin, with 1/2 slice of cheese and 1 pc of bacon for breakfast this morning and got through 3/4 of it and I was wicked full!!! Let's see how long it lasts! Have a great day everyone...one more day to vacation! Whoot hoo!!! P.S. And that damn lump in my throat is back! AHHH!!!!
  5. Good Luck with your surgery and if you have any questions at all before, just ask!!!
  6. I would consult your doctor first, just incase it may affect your port.
  7. Hi there, Walking is great exercise from day one...no lifting for the first six weeks over 10 lbs and after that you can work on everything but abs. No crunches or sit ups or any ab work until 3 months post op to allow your port to heal. Alcohol is empty calories, you can have it but you may find you get tipsy much faster!! Good luck!!
  8. Julie's right, empty calories! I quit Diet coke and all carbonated drinks on May 27th and although there are days when I would like to feel the burn of carbonation, I know I can't. Cold turkey is for the best, if you taste it, you will want more. Be strong and safe your calories for eating!
  9. Yes, this is normal, some days I can only eat protein and veggies...my stomach can't manage anything else. I start eating a sandwich with bread, turkey and cheese and end up eating the inside and leaving the bread...after being such a huge bread and potatoes person, I find my want for it changing and to have to chew chew chew...sometimes it's not worth it. I also find myself turning my nose up at things I used to crave and love...I guess the band and my brain are working together! Finally!!! Yeh!! You are doing amazing...and running too! Wow!!
  10. Hi Ramona, no it's definitely not...I haven't been in college for 25 years!!LOL!! Anyone can join!!! www.facebook.com and fill out an application.
  11. I do both, I try not to eat too many carbs, which are truly my weakness, I love bread and potatoes. I do it in moderation. I eat protein and veggies first and find that I can barely make a dent into the potatoes or rice. Some days I basically eat protein only. I really haven't been counting calories so much as watching what I eat. If I eat out or want something a little higher in fat or calories, I watch my daily intake to accomodate. Good luck with your fill. My restriction comes and goes...I am hoping to have a second fill on Aug 20th.
  12. Welcome!! Congratulations on your decision to be banded. Let us know how everything goes..and if you have any questions at all, we're here!!! Good Luck!
  13. Is it caffeine free too? Caffeine inhibits weight loss, so if you enjoy the ice coffee, enjoy it as a treat!!!
  14. Congratulations Grandpa!!! Great news!!
  15. Hi Evette, I will look you up when I get home tonight.
  16. I was thinking Shawn Mayer was going to take it, although Melissa was my favourite...but she didn't!!! Yeh!!!
  17. Wow!! Lauren that's amazing!! Okay, I need to know how you got your arms and legs to look so good??? Secrets please!!
  18. Welcome Daniel, So glad to hear from you and that you are considering lapband surgery. I am sorry to hear about your other health issues, if surgery is an option for you, then the lapband procedure can definitely help you with your weight loss. I was banded in Canada on June 10th and I am down 38 lbs already. It's a lifestyle change that excludes carbonated drinks. I only drink water now, I quit Diet Coke on May 27th for good and honestly believe that just cutting this out, helped with my weight loss. I have eaten spicey foods and haven't had any problems whatsoever. I haven't had acid reflux since surgery, which is a huge plus. I hope you go for it...if you have any other questions, we are the most supportive bunch of bandsters or bandsters-to-be you will ever find!!! Best of Luck!!!
  19. Well aren't you the cutest little chatterbox...to be young again!!! Would a cappachino blast give me your kind of energy??? Have a great day!
  20. Thanks everyone!! I appreciate you support so much!! I love the new jeans, but can't wait to toss them for a smaller pair!!
  21. I can't feel food passing through the band either...I don't think you are supposed to. I am very gassy after meals, but that's the only change I have noticed since surgery. I am sure everything is fine.
  22. I just have the clip from his show featuring Achmed, I watch it whenever I need a laugh!! I have the same sticker on my Facebook page.
  23. Very cool Erin...I see you love Achmed too...isn't that hilarious!!
  24. Whew! OMG Julie, what we do without you...so happy they were able to help!!!
