  1. My youngest son had a WII and whenever he played it he was drenched in sweat...and that wasn't even WII Fit...then he decided to trade it in for a PS3...darn!!! Maybe for Christmas for Mom!
  2. Wow!! You are looking fantastic...such a pretty face!! And your butt is going away...yehhhhh!!!! I am so happy for you, you are back on track and doing fantastic!!! You go girl!!
  3. You are so right Pheonix...unfortunately, I have some really nice fat clothes, that one by one I am going to have to give up!! It will be happy tears though!! I have already purged three garbage bags of clothes from my closet and drawers for charity. I figure if I get rid of them, there is no risk of going back into them, right?!
  4. The OCC post op diet plan, does not have mushy food stage, as far as I have seen. I was banded in Canada and my post-op plan was completely different. 4 days clear liquids 2 weeks full liquids (creamy soup stage) 2 weeks mushy/blended foods I did not have solids until almost 5 weeks post op.
  5. Today, I wore a pair of jeans, I bought months ago, that were too tight...they have a zipper (ooooooahhhh) and a button (ooooooahhhh) and absolutely NO ELASTIC WAIST whatsoever!!!!! Whoot hooo!! for small victories! I have been wearing elastic waist jeans for years and could never find a pair with a button and zipper that fit properly or fit for that matter that were comfortable to wear, until now! I love my band!!!
  6. I am not sure I am a compulsive eater, but I did use food for comfort and I am a chronic snacker, especially in the evenings. The band is not a magic wand that will make that go away. The band is designed to reduce the amount of food you eat, but in order to lose weight, you need to follow the guidelines and eat protein, veggies, grains and fruit, in that order. Not to say that you can never have the foods you love in moderation or for a treat, but when you are striving to lose weight, I keep the treats to a minimum. If you have compulsive eating issues, counselling may be available to help you overcome this or to distract yourself from eating by doing something else, like exercise, a walk or a bottle of water. I made the decision to do this and was fully committed to change my lifestyle. I do have a treat once in awhile, but try to stay on track 99% of the time. If you have any quesions at all, we are all here for you!! Good Luck!
  7. WOW WOW WOW!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! Celebrate and treat yourself, you have done amazing!!!
  8. Hi know whatcha mean...when I started on solids 4 weeks after surgery, I was afraid of PBing and was really careful with taking really small bites and chewing like crazy...I still do that and so far so good. I had my fill on Wednesday and started eating a little bit of solids today, small bites and chew like crazy and so far no problems. I think it's trial and error. I figure if I can gulp water and have no problems, then if I eat small bites and chew chew chew, I should be fine. Just take it slow, eat easy foods and graduate to more solids, small bites and chew chew chew. Good Luck!
  9. Hi there and welcome!! 1. How much did your lap band procedure/trip cost? In Canada 15K 2. What kind of band do you have, REALIZE or Inamed/Allegren and which do you advise? Allegren 9cc 3. How many fills will I need after surgery? Is it true they cost around $150-$300? 1 since sx June 10/08, fills included in fee. 4. How big is/are your scar(s) and how ugly is/are they? The largest scar is about 4 inches long and it will fade over time. 5. Also, I'm a college student, I was thinking to do this during labor day weekend (August 31st-Sep. 1st) and then go back to school. Is 3 days enough? It depends on how quickly you recover from surgery...some people have, I needed a week. By day 4 I started feeling okay. 6. I was also planning to study abroad starting January in China for a semester, do you think I'll still be able to do this if I get the band? You will need to ensure that you have a good fill before you go, otherwise you could end up struggling and feeling hungry. Talk to the surgeon, he will be able to answer all of your f/up questions. Best of Luck!
  10. Great idea!!! You have done so well, you should be very proud!!! Have a great weekend!!
  11. That's fabulous Paula...why the odd goal numbers?
  12. Solids already, good for you! I had cold cereal and milk for breakfast. Lunch was 1/2 turkey and havarti on multi-grain bread and dinner can be fish, chicken, pork chop or steak (chew really well) and steamed veggies. Have fun chosing and enjoy!!!
  13. YAAAHHHH!!! Good for you!!!
  14. Uh oh, look what I started...not trying to scare off the newbies honest!! I have a very tiny needle mark, no redness, no bruising or pain, the port area is just a little tender when I bend over. It's painless and compared to the port pain after surgery, it's nothing!!!
  15. I consider mushy food, blended foods too. Mashed potatoes Baked potatoes Scalloped potatoes Creamy soups Pasta blended Mashed Fish Cabbage Rolls (inside) Tuna Salad (pasta and tuna) Here are some of my examples. I chew like crazy until my food is liquid.
  16. Congrats!! You can do it...stick to shakes and water and you'll be thinner in no time...best of luck next week. Be sure to let us know how you are doing!
  17. That's so great, to have a friend to share your experiences with...welcome Rexy16!! Best of luck with your surgery in September!
  18. No everything looks fine, no redness at all...just a little tenderness...I didn't look at the needle, so I didn't realize it was giant!! Thanks Clynn
  19. Is this something that everyone experiences...just a few or just me? Feels really tender again.
  20. Good thought Julie...makes sense!
  21. I always do...just wondering what the difference is??? I chew everything so well, it's mushy before it goes down anyway??
  22. Happy 2nd Birthday!!! You are as pretty as your Mommy!! Have a wonderful day and eat lots of cake on our behalf!!!!
  23. So I was thinking....I have been on mushy food since my fill yesterday. I am okay with this, but wonder....if I chew my solid food like crazy until it's mushy liquid...why do I have eat mushy food after a fill? Hmmmmmm? Too much time on hands??!! LOL!!
