  1. Hi everyone, I had my first fill today. I learned alot about my band today too. Apparently my surgeon uses two sizes of bands 9cc and 12cc. I have the 9cc. During surgery they actually put 3cc of fluid into my band. I got 1cc today, so I have a total of 4cc in my 9cc band. My surgeon does not use fluroscopy unless he cannot find the port. Today, he felt around, located it, marked my tummy and when he puts the needle in, he actually extracts the existing fluid to check how much is there before injecting the fill. I guess that's one of way of confirming the needle is in the port. I am on mushy foods for 2-3 days and then ease into solids. I have another appointment in a month for check on this fill and another if needed. So we'll see how things go!!!
  2. Glad to hear you are doing well...stay away from the Cheezies...don't eat solids before dr recommended, it can cause more than diarrhea unfortunately. My surgeon advised that the liquid phase it to allow the band to make a permanent imprint in your stomach..solids can jeapardize that. Keep up the good work!
  3. Wow, 3cc is quite a bit..I guess you got what you paid for!!! I have my this afternoon...I will let you know how it goes!
  4. You are so right Blazn...I used to order a Big Mac and Large Fry and could get that down no problem at all...now I can barely get through a cheeseburger and I am satisfied...I may steal a few fries from my kids, but I am so amazed at how this tool works!!!
  5. Thanks Janet, it's at 3:30 this afternoon, I will let you know how it goes!!
  6. Congrats Hot Grandma!!! I can't wait to see pics!
  7. MamaMichelle, you must have read my mind, I was just thinking that I could use a protein boost and get back on track..not that I have fallen off track, I would like to boost my weight loss again. I think after my fill today, I will replace a meal or two with a protein shake. thanks for the info, it's great!!!
  8. That's good info to know...I agree with one of the comments, it difficult for short people. I am only 5 feet tall and it's hard to do...but I figure the harder the workout the better right now!! I really like it....
  9. It's a huge victory...I love McDonald's cheeseburgers...I eat just that sometimes for lunch when I am running around. Good for you!!!
  10. Me too..spend way to much time on the computer..and could be working out!!
  11. Hi Elaine, I have my first fill tommorrow..and I am not fond of needles either. Everyone has said it doesn't hurt at all, so I'll just turn away!! Good Luck!
  12. I am watching it right now on Dateline...he is truly inspirational...it really makes you think about what's important in life!!
  13. If you have never seen Professor Pausch on Dateline, you have to see this. He was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer some time ago, and has the most amazing outlook on life and the struggles of life. His wife is also a true inspiration. Professor Pausch died last week and they are featuring his story again. He was truly an incredible person and everyone can take from him a life lesson. If you get a chance to see it, do it!!!
  14. I totally agree, I am focusing on protein alot too and know for a fact that I am not getting enough ruffage...I have a fiber supplement, I will try that!!
  15. You are extremely organized and will do just fine. I am the same way, everything needs to be planned out and executed. Don't worry about your BMIs..mine was 54+...I lost 12 lbs pre-op and my surgeon said everything went like clockwork. You guys will do great!!! I am very excited for you!!!
  16. Will it clean out all the old crap? Will it make me less Crapstatic? LOL!! Had to say it!! To be brutally honest, when I do go, I don't think it's enough and a good cleansing might be a good thing!!
  17. I got mine from the Canadian Shopping Channel for just $99 and it's more than worth it!! I have a Tony Little Gazelle too, but it doesn't give half the work out the Leg Magic does. Is your hubby home yet? Hope all is well!
  18. Wow, good for you!! You have a date already..amazing!! I hope all goes well with your husband, but if by chance it doesn't, keep your plans to do this!!! You always have our support! There may be someone here going down for Aug 15th...check the calendar!! I am so happy for you!!!
  19. Keep in mind Jessica, that the pre-op diet is designed to reduce your liver...my patient coordinator told me not to concentrate on the numbers on the scale...because reducing your liver may not necessarily show up there. As long as your diet is virtually fat free, you are doing what you need to do for surgery. Good Luck!
  20. Like Lynzz said, use the gallbladder surgery story if you need to explain...I`ve had both and they are very similar..the position of the scars are different, but no one else needs to know that!
  21. Hi Musiclover, So sorry you had to endure such nonsense. I work in the insurance industry and was an underwriter at one time and for private life or disability insurance, you generally are charged premiums based on your medical status which includes your height and weight. I can`t understand why you wouldn`t be approved and at least provided with a choice of paying a higher premium. I would re-investigate it again...or go to another insurance company. Good Luck!
  22. You can do this Jessica....it's not easy, but it's so worth it!!!!!!! (((((HUGS))))))
  23. I agree with Julie, during your healing time after surgery....eat and drink as much as you want or need. You don't need to necessarily count calories right now. Feel better!
  24. OMG!! It's so hard!!!!!! I can only manage it for a minute or two right now...it really works your inner thighs and butt...to the point that after just a minute or two they hurt....I am working on gradually increasing my time daily. If you want a machine that targets your legs and butt, this is it!!!!
  25. Oh Jessica, don't feel defeated, losing weight is very difficult...I honestly don't think you are eating enough..800 calories is not enough...your body could be in starvation mode and won't let the pounds go...try eating a bit more and see what happens. The band is designed to make you feel full after just 3/4 cup of food, it does not count the calories for you. You could eat a 3/4 cup of fries vs 3/4 cup of protein or veggies and the calorie count differs quite a bit. You are required to follow a diet plan of protein, veggies, grains and fruit, in that order when you are banded. The protein rich diet helps promote weight loss. You can do this...it seems difficult now, because your body is not losing, but you must realize that the hard part hasn't even begun yet...the post-op liquid diet will be a struggle too. Liquids only for 3 weeks, no solid food. Bump up the protein and the calories a bit and see what happens...I find when I eat more protein per day than anything else and stay under 1200, I lose. Good Luck Sweetie...you can do this!!!!
