Hi Lock27, If you can drink without any problems and have restriction when you eat, you are rockin'. That's exactly where you want to be. I still have trouble with big gulps of water, although I wish I could just down an ice water some days, I get so thirsty and just wanted to drink the whole thing, but I can't, I get air bubbles right now. Enjoy it while you can!!! Cathy

IS THE LAPBAND ALSO HOOKED UP TO MY HEART!!
Kittycat replied to LENA23's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I started with the gas pains again this week too...I am almost a month banded now...and the gas pain subsided about 3-4 days after surgery, but lately it's come back. I had wicked pain yesterday in my back. For me I think it's eating more substantial foods, not so much creamy foods. So when I hit the solids next week I wonder what it will be like??? Feel better soon!!! Cathy > -
Hi there, As long as it's not carbonated, it should be fine. You wouldn't want to increase your risk for more gas or stretching your pouch with carbonation. After surgery you may experience gas pains for approx. a week. Vitamins can be liquid or chewable. Best of luck! Cathy

Thanks Lisa, I will keep an eye on it and talk to my surgeon. I am scheduled for a fill on July 16th, I guess we'll see by then if I even need it. Cathy

I had my surgery on June 10th and still have restriction from the surgery. When I eat, which is very little, I stop as soon as I feel full. Sometimes the fullness feeling increases to discomfort (like after eating a huge turkey dinner). I can't imagine that my pouch is stretching, because I really don't eat that much, but I am concerned about the increased feeling of being really really full. I also feel this way when I have been drinking alot of water. Does anyone with restriction feel this? Thanks Cathy

I am so sorry you having to go through this. You need to treasure this time with your Mom, whether is sharing a movie with ice cream or enjoying a homemade chicken dinner. She needs you and you need her. I wish I could be there to give you a hug too. Do the best you can, under the circumstances, don't beat yourself up about what you are eating right now, it's totally understandable that you are dealing with bigger issues. Take care and big hug!! Gaining weight with surgery is normal, I gained 7 lbs...it went away after about a week, gas, bloating, water retention. It's temporary. Drinking...follow your diet plan and drink lots of water!!!! Take care, Cathy -
I was watching Oprah yesterday and Donald Trump brought on his personal chef from Mar-a-lago and shared the secret recipe for the most amazing turkey burger. Oprah said it was the best she'd every had!!! Here is the Recipe: Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger INGREDIENTS 1/4 cup scallions, thinly sliced 1/2 cup celery, finely chopped 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced 1/8 cup canola oil 4 pounds ground turkey breast 2 Tbsp. salt 1 Tbsp. black pepper 2 tsp. chipotle Tabasco™ 1 lemon, juice and grated zest 1/2 bunch parsley, finely chopped 1/4 cup Major Grey's Chutney, pureed Sauté the scallions, celery and apples in the canola oil until tender. Let cool. Place the ground turkey in a large mixing bowl. Add sautéed items and the remaining ingredients. Shape into eight 8-ounce burgers. Refrigerate for 2 hours. Season the turkey burgers with salt and pepper. Place on a preheated, lightly oiled grill. Grill each side for 7 minutes until meat is thoroughly cooked. Let sit for 5 minutes. Serve with a side of Mar-a-Lago Pear Chutney and your favorite toasted bread, pita or hamburger roll. Enjoy!!! Cathy

Hi Lee, Glad you are feeling better today, I was really sore for a few days and didn't do too much moving around for the first 3 days. Everyone is different, some bounce back quickly, others not so much! If you can walk 1/2 mile today, you are doing great!!! You are on the mend. The gas pains should subside once you are on creamy soup diet...mine did. Best of luck and congrats!!! Cathy =D>

I know I will feel the same way....I have been heavy all of my life and wouldn't even know how to shop anymore. I usually don't try anything on, I just get 3x top and 26W pants, that was my size for so long. I ordered this gorgeous top on line a week ago and silly me ordered a 3x again and it came in today and it's way too big...has to go back or be belted. I am swearing off shopping until I have nothing left that fits...then I am going to have start trying stuff on, or I will be wasting money! Enjoy the shopping is your reward for doing so well with your weight loss!!! Cathy >

Are you okay now? Did the doctor say what caused the fainting spell? Take care of yourself, Cathy
-
No your are not destined to be fat..you made the right decision and you can do this! You can be strong...if you are hungry, eat healthy foods, veggies, yogurt, sugarfree puddings and fudgecicles. I am finding that being on mushy foods, I am not staying full for very long anymore and supplement by a healthy snack in between meals. Like I said, my surgeon told me not to expect weight loss between surgery and my first fill....keep that in mind. Do the best you can and we are here if you need us! Take care Cathy

Carrie, consider it a treat, you have been doing really well and needed to treat yourself! So today, you get back on track and focus on your goal! I hope you enjoyed it! It's sounds like a great treat! Don't feel anxious or guilty...you have the rest of your life to meet your goal, it's not a race! You cannot deprive yourself of the good things in life! You deserve a treat once in awhile! Cathy > -
I avoid gum like the plague...the action of chewing actually creates the flow of gastric juices and you will feel hungrier sooner. I suck on mints..it helps with mouth dryness and your breath. Try it! Cathy

What do you know.....I have another question...
Kittycat replied to C1BandedBabe's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Mona's right, as soon as I started creamy soups, yogurt and pudding, the gas was under control. Not that I don't still get gas, 3 weeks later, but no pain, just musical!!! LOL!! Take care sweetie!! You are doing great!!! Cathy >
