  1. Hi Carla! Welcome!! You will find tons of good information here about lapband and the OCC. My husband had concerns to, but I needed to do this for my health, I am 45 years old and weighed 285 when I made the decision to do it. He said he loved me just the way I was, but I was not healthy or happy with myself. I did this for me..not him or for my kids...but for me. I needed to make the committment to the lifestyle change. But, my husband and kids will benefit from my decision because I will be around longer for them. You need to do this for you...give your husband all the information you can...but ultimately it's your decision. It's one of the best decisions I have ever made..I have lost 60 lbs in 4.5 months...it''s not easy, it's a tool to assist you in changing your eating habits. If you follow the diet plan provided and get fills when required, you will be successful. Good luck with your decision and if you have any more questions at all, just ask, we are all here to support you!! Take care!!
  2. That's freakin' amazing!!! Wow 80 lbs, that's a whole person gone!!! You are such an inspiration!!!
  3. I really wish I lived closer..I would so love to meet all of you...maybe next time!!! Have a great time!!!
  4. I went through the same thing at first too..would wake up in the night with wicked stomach pains, hunger pains, it felt like someone was grabbing and twisting my insides...but it passes...I drink alot of water before bed to fill up my stomach and that seemed to help flush things through. Lisa is right, our bodies are changing and adapting to the new way of eating...be patient, it will pass.
  5. Look at you GO-GO Girl !! Lookin' fantastic as usual!!! If I didn''t know better, I would have mistaken you for Carrie Underwood!!
  6. No worries Trav, I get that reaction everytime I post pics of my friends...they are very attractive!! But not single sorry!!!
  7. That's a great idea Trav, I do that now..we have a several local thrift stores with new and used clothing, some great stuff!!! I am very particular about clothing, I am a shopaholic and not shopping right now is killing me....but going to the thrift store and shopping for even one item that is a size or two too small is helping me through it!! LOL!!
  8. Hello and Welcome!! Congrats on your decision!!! Fills also called adjustments are done periodically to tighten the band and increase restriction. When you have the surgery, they sew the port to your stomach muscle. The port has a long cord attached to the band around your stomach. Inside the band is a balloon which contains the fill. After your surgery, at approximately 5-6 weeks you will get a fill to tighten the band, the fill doctor will inject saline into the port located around the largest scar and you will be required to go back on liquids for a few days to let it settle. It can take 3 or more fills to get to your "sweetspot" which is premium restriction, whereby you can only eat maximum 3/4 cup of food per meal. If your surgery is covered by insurance, that's wonderful...I have not heard of fills being covered and the cost depends on where you go and how often. I would recommend you start researching your area for a fill centre now. Good luck and if you have any more questions, we are here!!
  9. That's the best NSV I've heard yet!!!! LMAO!!! Embarrassing but so worth it!!!! Congrats on your surgery and you are definitely on the road to slim-dom!!!

  13. You can have non-carbonated anything to drink as long as you calculate the calories into your daily while you are trying to lose.
  14. We are here to help and provide support!! Like Lisa said it's not easy, you have work at it!! I know you've tried and when the weight doesn't come off you feel frustrated, but keep in mind that it took years for the weight to come on, it will take time for it to come off, slow and steady wins the race!!! Change it up, high protein, low carb, more water and exercise and it will happen!!! Take care and kick start today!!!

  18. LMAO!!! OMG!!! That's priceless!!! I will add a tidbit to that funny...my husband and son and I were shopping earlier this week and on the way out of the store, my husband literally exploded!! I have never heard him fart sooo loud!! And there was a man walking right beside him!! Needless to say I lagged behind, pretending I didn't know him....my son was in stitches and I was so embarrassed!!! It's okay Ramona, blame it on the band!!! Thanks for the chuckle!!
  19. I used the liquid diet approach as well, I told the co-workers who did not know about my surgery and still don't that I am kick starting a diet plan with shakes and low calories liquids to flush out my system. It worked!! Good luck baby!!
