  1. I talked to my insurance company about covering fills - and was told rather rudely that they refused to cover any follow ups because going to a foreign doctor was a "slap in the face" to our government. WHAT?!? If my government had cared about my health enough to cover the surgery I certainly wouldn't have left the country. Heh. It's totally discrimination, and if the doctor is playing that "liability" card, they are full of ______.
  2. I thought doctors took an oath to help people - and that patient care was more important than the almighty dollar. My extra weight was affecting my life and health - and I could never have afforded lap band surgery in the states. Perhaps if docs here charged a reasonable price, we wouldn't have to travel to other countries where health care is more affordable.
  3. Silly question... but they don't actually verify where you got your surgery done, so why couldn't you just claim you got it done in a different state (pick a surgeon off the internet). The worst that could happen is they find out you were lying and don't do the fill, right? Sorry, but I think it's discriminatory to refuse to do "Mexican patients". I had a doc here willing to take me until they learned I was banded in TJ. I don't see how it's a liablity issue when they're willing to take another doctor's patient ... just not a MEXICAN doctor's patient. Jerks.
  4. I would love to have one done with flouro. I was totally freaked out during my fill about getting the tube punctured, and what was going on. I'm a single mom, and $8,000 was a lot of money to me - that extra bit of reassurance would have been nice. But alas, he doesn't use it. I'm going to need to have one done under flouro just to ease my worried mind. Have I mentioned that I'm the paranoid type? Heh.
  5. I tried one once called "Colon Blow" (loved the name!), and it did nothing for me.
  6. Somebody missed me?!? Awwwww... I feel so special. ;-) Just been super busy and stressed lately - hadn't had time to read or post. You'll have to update me on your progress - I know I've been missing a lot. BTW, your new pic looks great! :-)
  7. He does not use fluoro. He did my fill today... if you have any questions, PM me.
  8. Hmmmm... I'm wondering myself. I just had my first fill today (2 cc), and I feel nothing. He had me drink a whole bottle of water, and I felt nothing backing up in my throat as I was told I would. Right now, I am drinking an EAS protein shake mixed with PB, fiber and crushed ice (consistency of a shake). And nothing. The fill was only an hour ago. Shouldn't I feel SOMETHING?!?!
  9. You da man, eh? :buba: Careful now, women might start sending you (paper) panties to sign. lol
  10. I've been doing well. Been planning that Vegas/San Diego/Tijuana trip later this month and getting ready for that. I'm going to make that call tomorrow to schedule my first fill! Yay! Finally! :-)
  11. Was there more drama that I missed out on? I need some entertainment now that I don't pay for cable anymore. Maybe I should pop in more often. (Kidding) Wondering what I missed though - especially since I see the pinned "Warning". Oh my!
  12. A 6?!? I don't think I've ever been a 6 in my life! You go girl!
  13. Actually, it's been almost 3 months! ACK!!! I haven't been able to afford the trip back to Mexico yet. I took time off from my occupation (I'm self-employed, so no disability or vacation time), and it seemed the worst time possible to do so. You've heard the saying "when it rains, it pours", right? LOL! I do have a trip to Vegas planned (thankfully, it's a business expense and I paid for it a few months ago) in July/August and hope to drive down to San Diego/Mexico and get the fill. As for restriction, I really don't have any. Thankfully though, I do have willpower - otherwise I'd be totally screwed! LOL
  14. This conversation is shocking to my delicate sensibilities! (I almost typed that with a straight face! LOL!)
  15. I know, I know... I'm a very naughty girl. I think the only reason I get away with it is because no fill = no restriction. I'm sure once I get a fill, I'll be forced to change my ways. :-)
  16. Hehehehehe... Seriously though, would love to read it. :-)
  17. Hooray! I know how each single pound is a huge victory and I get so excited when I get to change my ticker again. :-)
  18. If this is confession, will there be punishment afterwards? I'm just here for the punishment. *ahem* COULDN'T help it! The thought of confession makes me think of naughty catholic school girls...! :-D I do have a confession though - I drink while I eat. All the time. I can drink an entire bottle of water with a meal. I don't know how I'm going to stop this madness!!! ACK!!! *bends over waiting for her spanking*
  19. I'm glad you all got a good laugh. :-) They're a lot of fun to make. My kids get embarrassed when their friends find them though. lol
  20. I don't have a whole lot of restriction, no. I can pretty much eat whatever I want, I just stop myself from doing so. (I make sure I replace at least one meal a day with a protein bar, and sometimes I replace 2) I haven't gotten a fill yet, because I had a major financial avalanche that I'm buried under at the moment and I can't afford the trip. lol Hopefully when I'm in Vegas this summer, I'll just make the drive to San Diego and go down for the first fill.
