Hi everyone, 3 years ago today I was banded, today I am flying home from Las Vegas to Bellingham Washington. I have just completed 5 weeks of intense training, and now I am a flight attendant for Allegiant Airlines! 3 years ago I never thought I would be thin enough plus I figured I was to old. Well here I am 50 years old, size 6 uniform 140 lbs. and happy! I don't think I could of done any of this without the band, the hardest part for me was remembering it is just a tool, and I still need to work out! Hope to see you in the friendly skies. Linda

Hi Everyone, Figured since I am turning 50 on wednesday and feeling good I would update you all! I was banded May 2008. I was A low BMI and lost weight right away, but got stuck at 150. I mantained that until start of 2010, I had a rough year, My dog died ,my sister in law died, my mom died and my son who is in the Army crashed his helicopter and almost died, (he survived and it is a miracle, and he will be ok in time) I couldn't handle all the stress, this all happened within 2 months, My band slammed shut so I turned to alcohol to self medicate! It went down easy and made my band losen up and then I could eat. Before I knew it I was back up to almost 200 lbs.i quit working out and became a couch potato. I stayed in this cycle for months, i became Depressed. I was able to hide it from my family and friends, I suffered in silence, I was always the happy go lucky person. Well to make a long story short, I realized I needed help and went to the Drs. He made me quit drinking and get a slight unfil! I have been sober for almost 3 months and dropped 30 pounds! I have been working out again and loving life! I learned that being overfilled is not good! and the band does not help emotional issues nor does alcohol. I am so thankful for my band but still have to remeber it is just a tool. I feel and look better than i did 20 yrs ago.. Happy 2011 to everyone. Take Care, Linda http://i343.photobuc.../202_0265-2.jpg Picture on the right taken last night!

Hi Mindy, wow you have done a great job, I stopped by your work last month but you weren't there and I never got a chance to make it back, I was taking care of my Mom at Marshall Manor on 20th and Northrup. I will call next time I'm in town. You should be so proud of yourself! I still struggle everyday with the band, but for the most part it has kept me in check. Can't wait to see your after pictures. take care, Linda

I am so Jealous!! Which Island? You will do fine. I went to your Dr. He is so nice. It's funny though he mentioned several times that he does botox injections as well. I think he was trying to tell me that I might need some. Lol. Anyway have a great time and don't worry to much about your band, it will take care of you. Aloha

If its not working, there is probably a problem!

Your storey is exactly the same as mine, but I Just have been living with it.. I only have 2cc but I can only tolerate few bites at a time, pb then continue. I also have not lost any weight since the last fill..(Jan.) because I never feel like I have had enough to eat so I kinda of graze all day. I also drink alot more now than before just out of frustration. But thanks to post like yours and Sabrinas, I finally have given my head a shake, and just scheduled an unfill for Saturday. I thank my lucky stars that I didn't slip my band. Sabrina I will be using your Dr. in Surrey. I know alot of people will benifit from post like yours. Lesson learned...MORE IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER -
I did not find this post offensive in the least, I found it as a reminder of what happens when you take to big of a bite or not chew well enough, which I think we are all guilty of. Stormy, I hope you are feeling better now. I know first hand how painful having food stuck is!

You know you are a bandster when......
yoyodieter replied to MyNewLife's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
You know your a bandster when.... You are still chewing the olive from your bloody mary, and every one else is on there second round of drinks and you haven't even taken a sip out of your first. -
I stayed twice at the Lucerna, the first time was when my son had his surgery, I loved the location, I could walk to the clinic or the mall and felt safe. My son had planned on staying at the clinic, but they wouldn't let him control his own air conditioning and decided to come back to the hotel. The second time was when I had my surgery and I went back 2 hrs. after surgery and layed by the pool and slept. I decided in advance that I would go back to the hotel and paid less for the semi private room. I loved the service at the Lucerna, but I have never stayed at the Marriott. I don't think you can go wrong with either hotel.

I LOVE CHEAP PINK WINE!!! Peter Villa white zinfadel.. 5 litres.. goes with chicken or beef or hot dogs, sloppy joes, Hell I can't think of anything it dosen't go with!!! LOL. I drink way to much of it, and would probably be a size 2 if i didn't, but life wouldn't be nearly so much fun!! (i know, i know empty calories) Life is to short not to drink cheap wine.

Hi Sabrina, Sorry to hear about your unfill, My husband keeps telling me I need one, I PB daily, and find it's just easier to drink my calories than eat them! and I only gain weight Can you tell me who you used? I really don't want to cross 2 borders and go to Marysville, just not enough hours in a day. If you used a Dr. closer can you give me the info please. Thank you so much, P.S. do you work for 104.9?

Trying to Decide Before Leaving Tomorrow
yoyodieter replied to DixyChixy1966's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I would of been lost without mine! I am so glad I brought it. I went back to the hotel the same day of my surgery and loved being in my hotel room and not having to leave and use the one in the lobby. I was able to stay in touch with friends and family. Good Luck on your surgery, hope to hear from you soon. -
You will learn trial and error on what you can eat. You will find that some of use can't eat pasta, well others can, same with just about everything on the list. You might be able to eat all those things before you get your fills, and just a few after you hit your "sweet spot" I can eat everything on your list if I chew chew chew and take small bites, The bad things like real popcorn (I work in a bar that makes it like at the movies) seem to go down way to easy. I don't even bother with bread, just takes to much effort! Good Luck, and isn't it amazing how we all made it 3 weeks on liquid? I never thought I could do it. Take care,

bathing suit season sucks
yoyodieter replied to ValleyGirl's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hi Sabrina, I had a tt and a donut breast lift with silcone implants above the muscle seven years ago. I had It done by Dr. Van Laeken http://www.vanlaeken.com/ she is located in false creek surgical center off broadway and cambie, I loved her, I would go back for more things but she no longer can operate on Americans. I might of paid a fee for the office visit but then got a credit towards the surgery. I don't regret for a moment having the surgery. Oh by the way I weighed 185 when I had mine done. They also offer finacing. -
Pammie your my idol!!! I want to get my back fat zaped out so bad and my arms done, I swear after my tummy tuck 7 yrs ago, anytime i gained weight, it went right to my back and arms. When I save enough money I will go to Dr. Nyte. Can't wait to see the pictures after the bandages come off, I can't believe you are so alert after surgery. Take care of yourself and don't overdo it!

Horrible left shoulder pain
yoyodieter replied to Lindsay's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hi Lindsay, Sorry to hear about your pain, I wish I could tell you it completly goes away, but mine hasn't. I was banded over a year ago, and I still get the pain in the left shoulder. I have not figured out what triggers it yet. The pain isn't everyday but does flair up now and then. I have just got used to it. I wish I could tell you why. Take care.
