  1. Mine are two months old and are red to reddish brown. Has anyone tried Micderma (sp) not sure of the spelling.
  2. Just wondering if they put in a little fill when you had the band placed? My doctor kept asking me if that was the case for me.
  3. It sounds like your doctor is really trying to help. Let us know how that works for you.
  4. Hi Julie, Yeah, I know what you mean. A while ago I took something over the counter called SAM-E. I cleans the liver, takes aways pain and is a mood elavator. It is Huge in Europe and they give it to people who are depressed...without the side effects of anti-depressents. Don't take my word for it, check it out on the web. It is totaly interesting and as a nurse, you will be impressed. You cannot combine with the drugs you are on now. I took it as a joint pain reliever, but found that after a while my friends noticed a change in my mood, I was happy, sleeping well and eating less. It works well for people like me who after being on anti-depresants for a few months, they stop working. It does not have the side effects that are associated with anti-depressants. Check it out! Can be purchased at any drug department anywhere. Barb
  5. You could also try to record the Ophra show on Aug 11th, it is about lapband. I made up my mind and when I brought it up to my husband I said: I have come to a major health desion, I have to do something before it is too late. I presented all the health problems that will go away and all the ones that will be prevented...Made sure he knew the money savings by not having to be ill from weight related illnesses. I told him I reserched and found this to be the safest and cost effect in the long run...have you spent money in the past on weight loss promises? Special diets? bigger clothes? Fatique from eccess weight? My doctor also said that he has seen life changes that are wonderful from patients and suported me, how about your doc? If it is somthing you know you have to do, let him know that. I would not threaten him with divorce quite yet. My husband saw that I was unyielding and then went along with me...he liked the idea that I would be eating less and saving money on food and doctor bills. LOL In the long hall, the band will pay for itself. You are right, people that don't have a weight problem don't get it, lucky for me, (or not) my husband has been tring to quit smoking for years, I asked him if he could have surgery that could get him to quit would he do it...Yes was his answer. If you go alone....you will not be alone there for long...we are a special bonding group that love to share the experience with each other. While I was there with my husband, we were almost never alone, the ladies hung out with us and we had a great time. I still keep in touch with them on the phone and by email, as well as the beautiful people on this forum. Do what you need to do for all the right reasons, when your heart and mind are set, it will fall into place for you to know what to do. Best of Luck, you are going to do the right thing, Barb
  6. Dear Kibble Let's you and me hang in there together. I got my first fill at 6 weeks and it has not kicked in, I have been whinning about this ever since...NO RESTRITION. I have not lost weight in about 5-6 weeks! The doctor is letting me come back three weeks from the first fill and I can't wait unti Aug 7th at 3:15 pm. All the ladies that got banded with me in TJ have great restriction, lost more weight and can eat only very, very small amounts before HAVING to stop. But Kibble we are all different, our pouch area might be tougher to yeilding to the band fill and will need more presure. What we do not want is to be be over filled and not even be able to swallow our own spit. From what I have read, that is a nightmare. I am not a patient person and like instant gradification (like from food) but it will happen for me and for you....just look to the wonderful people here on the forum that will be there to coach us along the way. Keep reading the posts everyday and do what the winners are doing. Please don't be so hard on your self or the band....your Sweet Spot is coming and so is mine.
  7. Yes, you do have pretty hair, Your "Crown and Glory" should be just fine. Like everyone has said, keep up with protien and use biotien as a safety net. Gastrict bypass does not allow for total food and nutrition obsorbtion. The band does. You will be thin, healthy and have beautiful hair.
  8. That is so cool, did you chuckle to yourself? I have a couple pairs that can be pulled down without unzipping...they are going to Good Will too.
  9. You not only took off weight, but years! Great job!
  10. We use food to smooth the bumbs, that is what got us over weight, be kind to yourself right now, when you are strong enough to start moving forward you will. Baby steps. Check will your fill center and see what they reccomend for you. You have done so well and I hope you know how proud we all are of you. Also you have had major changes and it will take time to adjust to your new life wether it is a good or bad change, be patient with yourself, love yourself now is the time of healing.
  11. You are beautiful, and getting thin too
  12. thanks for your advise, I called the office and they will put more fill in after three weeks instead of four. I'll let you know how that works out. I got 1.2 and was told today that the PA that did my fill wasn't that experienced with the type of band I had and that I would have gotten 2 if she had done the fill, she is doing my next fill. I have NO restriction yet.
  13. I ended up going to Dr Metz in CO. His fee was better for me. I had my first fill Friday, and will be going back for a second fill in three weeks.
  14. Has anyone read the post op and fill book by Ortiz? How much can you eat at a time when you are in your "Sweet Spot"? A fellow Otriz bandster was filled in Texas (first fill) at 2.4 and was given the book that said only 1/3 cup at a meal, total. Is anyone living on so little and doing okay?
  15. the fill doctors know how to position you and get your stomach musles to pop and push up the port
  16. Hi, I just had a fill last Friday and was told to be on liquids for two days and then mushy foods for two more days. My fill was in Co
  17. Does anyone know if the expences have to be a certain percent of your income before they qualify?
  18. The glue should stay on for about 10 days, the longer the better for you scar. That is what the OCC told me, mine stayed on for about 12-13 days.
  19. My hubby knows, he went with me to TJ. A friend in another state knows too. I find that the people who know you can ask lot's of personal questions about money etc... and will always find ways to judge you for your sucess or when you fail. So tell the ones that you know you can trust to support you. This forum is my life line. I had my first fill last Friday, I haven't lost a pound in about a month, before surgery and on the liquid phase I lost 25 pound and was telling people (strangers with ears) about the band. I was so excited. The restrction mad me feel powerful. The lack of weight lose now has humbled me into not telling. I am ashamed that I have not lost any more weight in such a long time. I am exercising and eating right, I am getting my hormones checked tomorrow, I hope that will be the answer to my stand still. I don't blame the band and strongly believe that I will get to my goal, I wasn't prepared for any set backs, I thought that as long as I did what Iwas doing, the weight would continue to melt off and I would stay excited and motivated.
  20. I got a fill last week on Friday, and have no restriction, so when can I go for more fill I got 1.2 and it is not working, just ate 1/2 to 3/4 cups of nuts that went right thru.
