  1. Hi Paula, I am 54 and will be 55 in a couple of months. Geeez where did the years go?
  2. I love my band too, I do not PB (yet) but I finally get the feeling that I have self control over my food choices. I am a chicken at heart and after reading what happens to my friends on this site when they shovel food (that was may favorite way to eat) I am sooo very careful. Hope I didn't speak to soon LOL
  3. I was so afraid that I have a prescribtion for anti nausea suposatories in my frig, haven't had to use them yet.
  4. Holly Smokes, the inches are just melting off of you!
  5. Yep, don't worry This is your time to heal not watch the scale, the weight loss part comes after the fills start. I lost so many inches before the weight started coming down.
  6. OMG as I have said so many times in the past...you find the coolest and interesting things for us members. thank you You look marvalous darling...I am going to try a picture too.
  7. Hi Cheryl, You're not alone, I will be 55 this November. Since I follow Dr Miranda's food plan, I automaticaly fall into a low carb diet and make sure I get enough protein too. I eat spinage everyday. I also get some carbs from eating berries and yogurt. For some reason, I don't crave bread anymore, or cereal. I drink my coffee black, and then it's plan water or with some added lemon. Because of our age I think that exercise is even more important to get the weigh off. See, honey, you are not alone. By the way...I love the RED gloves and hat...very cool
  8. I know what you mean Kimmy, Now that I have lost weight, I think everything looks great and want to buy it all! It is so much fun to shop now! Enjoy, but don't buy too much of one size, because by winter it will be 10's and 8's
  9. Good luck, I am at 1.5 after two fills...so I'm right in your foot steps. Sweet Spot, here comes Kim
  10. Carrie, how are you doing? I was stuck at 180 for 6 weeks and I was banded the week after you. The only reason I didn't gain is because I was on the treadmill an hour a day. then this week, out of the blue I dropped 4 pounds. I kept telling myself that the plateau was okay (it was hard to convience myself) and that my body was taking the time to adjust to the initail weight loss. You can remind me again of this when I go through my next plataeu, PLEASE hang in there honey
  11. It is a period of change for you, reality sets in and it can be confusing for your head and your body. Now is a good time to read some positive litterature, try doing things that give you pleasure...even a bubble bath. Make this time a time that it's okay to focus on yourself, try to enjoy the wonderful gift you have given yourself..health
  12. That looks like so much fun, I have signed up for four belly dance classes next month (introduction) can't wait to have some fun.
  13. Wow, I am two months post op and can't wait to get mine lowered or completly off. Great job, you'll be off them all in no time
  14. I am one of those ladies that doesn't use cook books. I just open the frig and the cabinets to see whats there. I make sure it's all good healthy foods. My Mom taught me to cook by smell and taste combinations. Everyone is impressed with this way of cooking, but I am impressed by those who use cookbooks and make awsome meals. I do read cook books to get ideas.
  15. Once again Michelle, you are the bomb with all this basic, no nonsense information...I love reading your posts. I hope you found your thing...
  16. For me, I tend to be an all or nothing person. So I am scared to death to start cheating in fear that it will be too hard to stop and too easy to continue. I am what you call a closet eater and like to sneak eat, I am trying to stay away from the dark side HE_HE. the band has helped me so much.
  17. Wehn you are at teh OCC Dr Miranda wil sit with you and tell you what she wants you to do, and she will give you some print outs to take home. They are going to take good care of you there at the OCC
  18. Thanks for the reminder, I need to get some ab work in now that I am approaching the three month mark. the hours on the treadmill took my thighs down, now to get to that mid-section and the all important stretching. It's another thing to do, but only we can do it. And we are worth it!
  19. Yes, you are welcome to share all the concerns and we all try to respond in a positive way to you that is going to help everyones journey.
  20. I prey that you find it, please stop crying honey.
  21. Paula, you are doing the right thing, be easy on yourself doing the stretches, if you pull something it could set you back. Don't stop, just work your way up. I used to teach exercise classes. Like Kim, I started out so slow on the treadmill, in less than 10 minutes I was soaked. Well yesterday, it took 18 minutes to work up a sweat and I can stay on for 75 minutes. I am getting very stiff from months on the treadmill and today, after months on the treadmill, I am adding a much needed stretch video to my routine. It should be easier now that I have lost so many pounds and inches.
  22. Please, no one leave, I love you guys. And so many of us need your suport. Please instead learn to tune out negativity in all areas of your life and don't take this guy to heart. I love this saying that I learned years ago in an AA meeting "What you think of me is none of my business" it has helped me to learn to understand that it comes down to what you think of yourself. I hope you are realizing that you're suport is needed here. You have saved me from, and guided me through so many days of adjusting to the bandlife. We are all in this together.
  23. Hi MaMa I was hoping to see Dr Ortez on TV Boy that would be wonderful to have him on the show!
  24. I have had two fills now in Denver...the bariatric surgeon has his PA's do the fills, they also assist him in surgery. I had two different PA's do the fills. The first one used Latacaine to numb me, the latacaine needle hurt, but I didn't feel the fill needle. The second time (two days ago) the PA asked if I wanted to be numbed, I said no, she felt my port and had me breath in and then out...she stuck me right in the port and it DIDN"T hurt at all. I went with this doctor because it is saving me tons of money and they are caring and the PA's are sweet. And it's local. My fills cost 50.00 each time I go.
