  1. Here is a post, 5/30/08, that I did for someone else asking the same kind of question, because I felt the exact same way!! (My mom was totally against it at first ) I had my surgery 3 weeks ago in TJ. My mom went with me and was very hesitant about us going there. When I first told her, she said NO you are not getting it done there. We both did our research on Dr. Ortiz, could not find anything bad or negative about him. But we were still not sure what to expect. I am a bank fraud investigator & my mom works for Sacramento County, and I hate to say it but my mom and myself are "Hotel Snobs" After I had the surgery done and the stay at the Lucerna, my mom stated that she would ONLY recommend TJ to get their surgery done. It was very nice. The people at the hotel, and the hospital are very wonderful. Our waiter's remembered are name each day. I had 2 bellhop men that every time they saw me they made sure that I was feeling ok, asked if they could help me with anything? Service like this is very hard to come by. The food at the Lucerna is wonderful. The chicken broth is sooooo good, I only wish I could have found it where I lived like that. There is also a Starbucks a cross the street if you are coffee drinker. Nothing but good things in TJ, you will be well taken care of. I am even taking my daughter back with me on 7/4/08 when I get my first fill, because I had a great experience and she will love the pool at the hotel! Good luck, don't be nervous, and welcome to bandster land! PS - Dr. Ortiz is such a hottie with also a personality!
  2. Evette ~ how do you like the Carmen Electra Hip Hop Dance Video? Is it worth buying? :girl_dance:
  3. Count me in. Since there is only half the month left, I am doing step class 3 times a week, so I figure I will pledge Bronze! (hope I signed up right!) :training1: :lb25: Bronze Level- 8-14 sessions of at least 30 minutes 6/10/08 - Step Class 45 minutes
  4. You look simply Beautiful! :good3: :cheerleader:
  5. I am getting filled on the 4th! I am flying in on 7/3/08 and the van is picking me up from the airport. Staying until the 5th. This is also my first fill. When did you get banded?
  6. I have never been a gatorade person and have always looked at the calories in my drinks (just not in my foods) hahahaha! I am a big Special K water person now and I have started drinking ice tea which I never liked before.
  7. I had mashed potatoes, and was able to eat them just fine. And oh my god were they good. I am sorry but you can only have so much soup!
  8. One of the small ones came off in a week, but the glue also on my large incision started coming off. I think it took longer to heal because it came off to soon.
  9. I have started drinking way more water due to your advice. I have 3 liters at work, then when I am home I usually will have another 16 oz.
  10. Will T you are my HERO! Thank you so much for the encouragement and words of wisdom!! I will probably keep this post someplace so I can keep going back to it and read it when I start feeling discouraged. I was actually thinking about going back to the soup/liquid diet before my 1st fill appt, 7/4/08. Lisal looks amazing and have already sent her a few messages asking for advise. You bandsters are all wonderful! Thank you again. :lb13:
  11. Definitely do not feel alone........the more I read the forum it is very common not to lose that much weight before your 1st fill. I no longer have any restriction and at work I just want to snack all day. Evette told me about the metamucil, and I also have the eating order printed and taped everywhere, like my computer, my fridge, the bathroom mirror. I am trying all the tricks. The class was wonderful last night, I am so glad I started. Anytime you start feeling discourage, please feel free to email or post on the forum. This forum helps so much.
  12. I lived on the Gas-X chewable tablets, only thing that got me through & walking ALOT. I was so bloated and my shoulder was hurting so bad from the gas.
  13. YES DEFINATELY BRING THE GAS PILLS. I DON'T THINK I WOULD HAVE MADE IT WITHOUT MY GAS-X I STILL HAVE TO USE THEM AND I USE THE CHEWABLE CHERRY FLAVOR THEY ARE WONDERFUL. BUT IT IS A NECESSITY.
  14. I am with you! I was banded on 5/7/08 lost 10 pounds during the first 2 weeks, gained 2 back last week. I am trying all the tricks that other bandsters are using, to see if this will help. I did buy Metamucil last night, to help with being full. I also started a step class last night. I was totally discouraged last week and basically gave up! But I can't give up, this is a $8000.00 tool, so I need to make it work. I completely understand what you are going through. I don't have my first fill scheduled until 7/4/08, I am hoping that will help. DON'T GIVE UP ~ WE CAN DO THIS! :lb25:
  15. Yes I am going to TJ. Is that the same band you have? Well this helps give me an idea. Thank you.
  16. I go for my 1st fill on 7/4/08 and so confused on how much of a fill I should actually get or what I would want. I have a 10.0 cm band. Can someone explain? :training1:
  17. That is wonderful, and it gives me hope! I have been stuck for 2 weeks now. So keep up the good work.
