  1. I started working out last Thursday (3 weeks post op). I am only working on the elliptical, but as of yesterday I am starting to feel some tenderness around my stomach and the port site like I have done a bunch of sit-ups. It doesn't hurt badly or anything, just tender again like it was a couple days post-op. I am wondering if anyone else experienced this? Is this normal? I don't want to push myself too hard and cause the band to slip...do you ever get over that paranoia?
  2. This is what I wrote to Dr. Miranda: Dr. Miranda, > > I started the solid phase yesterday, day 21.... I hardly could finish a > scrambled egg before I was full. For lunch I had a turkey hot dog and > broccoli, again I only ate about half of the hot dog, but I managed all of > the broccoli. I started working out today also...My concern is I do not > want my body to think I am starving myself. I heard if you do not eat > enough calories it could actually make you not able to lose weight. > > Now that I am working out and on solids, how many calories should I be > consuming every day? And this is what she replied: Hi Ms Larson: You are doing good please do not force feed, trust me there will be apoint where you are going to eat a little bit more and more. RIght now as long as you do quality foods and a multivitamin you will be fine. And do 3 meals a day, even if it only some berry for lunch you are having something Dr. MIranda
  3. Trina, I started solids yesterday too..same as Erin...I found it a little hard to eat, but this morning was a lot better. I am going out to dinner tonight for the first time so I will let you know how it goes!
  4. Erin, Do you know how many calories we should be consuming now on solids? I started going back to the gym today and I don't want not consuming enough calories AND working out to effect my weightloss... I really didn't enjoy eating yesterday, I acutally missed dinner...Maybe it's because I really want pizza and not veggies and chicken ;- )
  5. Great Post! It's amazing when you think about it... and who ever eats only 2 slices of pizza?
  6. I agree that Boost high protien tastes the best- and I tried them all!! I also used these post op during the 2 and 3 week of the liquid phase. I am advocating Boost so much you guys are gonna think that I have stock in it or something! ;-) Be careful to not drink too much though...because of the high protein the calories are a bit higher (240) than other like slimfast (190) or EAS.... But one good thing is that the high protein acutally held off most of my hunger pangs.
  7. Not too crazy of a question...I suck in my tummy all the time and try to talk myself out of it...could it be considered abdominal excersize? And by the way I asked Dr. Martinez about rides and about the chiropractor the morning of surgery, he said you shouldn't do anything with too much pressure on the midsection for about 3 months. Most rides would be ok...not sure about roller coasters though...
  8. Two more days!!! I'm not quite sure what I will have, but reading all of the post sure has got me thinking!
  9. I will be getting my first fill on August 8th....hope it doesn't hurt!
  10. Protein is also good to help build lean muscle mass which a lot of WLS patients lose. That is why a lot of people have loose skin, I read an article about building up your lean muscle mass as you lose weight will actually help you in the long run. Dr Miranda said we will get enough protein throughout the day through our meals and that we should not need to supplement our days with additional protein.
  11. Food? Whats that? LOL... I went to dinner last night with my parents... I sat there and watched them eat cheese burgers with fries...every time they took a bite juice fell from the burger and hit the plate. I HATED them!! My Dad kept saying...this is the WORSE burger I have ever had...ur not missing a thing! I was like...thanks Dad but ur lying about the taste of it isn't helping...it was a good try tho! 5 more days to solids!
  12. Hey Elaine...how are the newlyweds? I hope you are doing well!
  13. Try BOOST High Protein...it tastes like chocolate milk and has 15g of protein. It is so much better than the rest!
  14. like the light n' fit yogurt "smoothies" or dannon or yoplait.... if you go in the yogurt/milk section you will see it, they are the ones in the drinkable bottles. I found during the first stage of yogurt it says to do half cup portions...the DanActive was quite good and it is just over 3oz which is the perfect size. I got the one that was considered "Immunity" it strengthens your immune system with the live cultures...Dr. Miranda said this was a good thing. Once you reach the protein shake time...I recommend BOOST w/HIGH PROTEIN (Chocolate). It is 15grams per bottle, 240 calories, and tastes the best. Trust me I have tried EAS, SlimFast, etc (and all different flavors) and it is by far the best!
  15. That's great Erin! Yea..I think I was too hard on myself tho... I did 7 full days of clear broths and juice. I then did 3 days incorporating the drinkable yogurt, and then moved on to the protein shakes day 10 and 11...Last night Day 12 I finally tried creamy soup and I put a pound back on! I bought Maalox liquid Antacid/Antigas last night and it made me feel 75% better.... This was after 2 phenzymes and 2 GAS-X strips during the day. Miss you guys....
  16. When you figure out how to get rid of the bloated feeling please let me know! I have had 2 phenzymes today and I am still going NUTS.

  18. This is a HARD question!! On the one hand you have VEGAS... come on now...who wouldn't enjoy that? On the other hand, San Diego is more logical if Dr. Ortiz can come. Has anyone spoke with OCC to see if that would even be an option? If he cannot attend we should do it in Vegas. I vote for Feb or May.. but May just sounds too far away! ;-)
  19. Hi Sandy...trust me it gets a bit easier! I too loved my diet Dr. Pepper! I chose to switch to Diet Root Beer for about a week while I went through caffine withdrawl! Then finally two weeks prior to surgery I stopped all soda consumption (until the bad people I met when I was in TJ forced me to have a Sprite) ! hahaha ;-) It was my last ditch attempt for soda heaven. It is not as hard as I thought it would be though. When you start seeing the pounds come off it makes it all worth while. Good Luck to you!
  20. I am flying Continental out of Ft Lauderdale. I will arrive around 11am I believe.
  21. Good Luck, I have my surgery on the 19th. See you at the hotel.
  22. See you there Erin! I am getting banded on Thursday. I wish you well!
  23. Hi Elaine, my surgery date is also June 19th! Look forward to meeting you.
