  1. I also add my prayers on this day of remembering..... Now let's work on getting our troops home for good!!!
  2. The others are right. What I have found as a binger and emotional eater since being banded that when I do "binge" it's a much lower calorie binge with "healthy" snack at 100 calories each. Yes I am still guilty of the behavior but that is getting better as time goes on. I work EVERY DAY to try and not binge especially in the late nights. It is a habit but also related to stress levels. So my answer is yes it does help because once you are banded you should be committed to this new way of thinking about your eating habits. Foods like ice cream, cookies and candy can be consumed in large quantities as they go right through the band so in this respect it doesn't help too much. You don't get violently ill like using Anabuse. Most often when I PB or slime it's from healthy "hard" foods that I just ate too fast and didn't chew well enough. When you get good restriction however which I don't have yet you do get full faster and stay full longer on smaller amount of these good "hard"foods. Ice cream will still slip right through from my understanding. This is one I have to conquer and it is getting better. I now buy no ice cream other than weight watchers or other 100 calorie bars and allow myself only 1 when I need my "fix". It is progress and I feel good about that.
  3. PLEASE CALL ME !! You could benefit from some chat and so could I. And about those mochas, yesterday at work I saw a coworker have little packets of powder creamer type stuff that makes coffee into a mocha using splenda as the sweetener. You should try them as they may prove to be a good alternative for you. Of course nothing is as good as the real thing but try it just to get the coffee you feel you need. And what about caffeine pills? They do work like coffee and are 0 calories, I used to use them for years to save calories. I am sorry about your frustration with the pre-op weight loss or lack of. You've got 7 days to buckle down and do this girl. Yes you can lose a few more pounds in that time. Go on only the protein shakes , maybe even 3 a day and salads with some sort of protein, like chicken, shrimp or whatever. And the most important thing to do.....Drink 100 oz of water a day. I can come over and put a foley catheter in so you should be fine!!!
  4. Arlene you have an angel looking out for you and she's called Arlene!! So thankful you are alright!
  5. I'd call your care provider. You should be able to tolerate foods in small amounts if you are chewing thoroughly and going slow.
  6. There are several places I have heard of that don't use the fluoro. You may not get any restriction with the first fill, especially with the larger band. Don't be discouraged this is normal. It may take 2 or 3 more to get good restriction so again be patient. I would never for one second think that a RNY would be better, that's totally rerouting your digestive system and far more risky!!!
  7. Wow , take care and post when you can. I said a little prayer for you Victoria!!
  8. :lb10: you sound like you've done real well. Great plan to start the exercise. Is it for a fill you plan to go over thanksgiving? Will you go to the OCC?
  9. I think you have a great idea to do this at this time. Since you have lost so much and it's the last 25# now is when you can really use the help of an expert. :lb23: I am excited for you and can't wait to hear about your training.
  10. Very interesting last 2 posts. Mona I am sorry to hear of this situation, I am sure it just sucks!! Work on that positive attitude and hopefully that will help in some way. I don't understand why you titled this.."at risk of being blasted?". Why would you be blasted?
  11. I have only told a few people. I am glad to hear you got a great reaction!!
  12. I too have much more gas then ever before surgery. Some days it's worse than others. Some days a food will cause more and than another day the same food is ok. Very fickle
  13. Bumping for DanaBall. Hope you see this. I see you found it Cara.
  14. Bumping.... Now more than ever we all should use our right to vote and make the right choice, whatever you may think that is....just vote!! I too cried watching this, how true. These hero's are working for us!!
  15. I have not read of that happening to anyone but I have only been on here since June. Good question.
  16. Dana great job on you efforts so far. It's good to try to make new habits before the surgery, not such a shock to you. I always used to drink a bunch of water with meals and though I could never change. I was pleasantly surprised it's no big deal now. It did take a few weeks of making sure I had nothing available to me while I was eating and then I watched the time for an hour and then drink.
  17. Good point and well thought out. I can eat most veggies, just be very careful and chew them up well. The juicer idea is a good one as well.
  18. I had a question about coffee, I've read 2 different things, one said it was OK and it was the carbonated beverages you have to stay away from but I've also read no caffiene?? what have you heard? I am not a coffee drinker but I havn't read anything here that says you can't have it post band. You are right about the carbonated drinks and beer though, they are a NO NO.
  19. Boy I don't have a clue why this might happen, only been 3 months for me with the band. I am surprisd to hear of it. Best of luck in getting it figured out so you can eat "normally" again.
  20. Glad you found a place that make you feel good as I have. There are so many wonderful people here who are all working on the same goal...weight loss with the band. We have many things in common other than just that though. Yes this is the place for anyone interested in the band or who already has the band!!
  21. Good to hear you have a great plan with your doctor. Now let's hope that blood sugar get under control as well. You are right about the medication though.
