  1. Hey Amy for me the emotional eating is also more than just a challenge at times. Like you I get into a state of panic, or at least used to, but even still some times I have to just stop and breath to get myselg out of this frenzy. Mine also has to dfo with my blood sugars. How are yours doing by the way? Hope they have gotten under control. Maybe I better PM you to check on you.
  2. For sure Erin fibercon will help. I needed help in that dept. as well and now every day I use benefiber. It's a powder that totally dissolves in anything liquid and you can use it in cooked item also. You absolutely cannot tell it is in whatever you put it in. I put it in my oatmeal when I have that in the mornings. I have found when I don't use it I get irregular. I just can't get enough food in to help with that. I also don't like to strain (TMI?) for BM's so this helps with that also. Also we arn't to do any of that with the band. There are many fiber additives and chewables but I do love my benefiber.
  3. :lb21: :lb21: welcome to the other side. Now the fun really begins. Glad everything went well. Have a great time in TJ and enjoy this mini vacation just for you. I'm happy for you Alana, it's been a long time coming.
  4. I do remember from Dr. Miranda that it is OK to have any other type of "diet" frozen meal, just look at the protein vs. carbs as some have lots of carbs. She didn't say this about the carbs though just my take on it. :lb4: This is a tough time and yes this will come and go. Get ready for the ups and downs of this crazy ride. You can do this and knowing what to expect is half the answer. Also having things like baby carrots( i ate even though they weren't on the list, cucumbers, and other veggies to munch on to help with the times you crave things. Sometimes just the act of hand to mouth helps. When I quit smoking one ip that worked for me was to "pretend" I was smoking, yes no cigarette just pretend smoking. Even if you havn't/don't smoke try this because it makes you take deep breaths and that will help sometimes. Don't laugh, it may work!! Or I may be crazy enough to believe it worked too. Seriously though I went through numerous episodes of feeling just plain "panicky" and like I would never get through another hour. That's when it's time to get on this forum and type you little fingers out, it works for me too.
  5. Off and on since banding I am awakened with bad pain at night at the site of my band area. It's so bad it wakes me up and then I am up for an hour or two. I finally figured it our since it happened the last 2 out of 3 night that it is gas. Bad gas!!! I take a few gas-x and walk around and sit on the pot and then do it all over again allowing time of course to sit at the computer and catch up on all the new posts, and finally after a while I go back to bed. I finally figured out a few things and wanted to share to help aleve somone else from this terrible ritual of mine. This has been posted before but just to reinforce not to eat like 2 hours before going to bed. Also anything with "spicy" stuff, peppers, onions you name it don't eat it maybe even 4 hours before bed. this comes from my making a beautiful batch of fresh tomato gazpacho last night. I used almost everything in our garden and then added a few things from the store like avocado and celery. I swear I only had less then 1/4 and stopped myself then thank goodness. I could have eaten a tone more but since I hadn't eaten so many vegetables together even though they were almost pureed I wanted to be careful. Good thing because at 3 AM I was miserable!!! So I suggest to anyone to be very careful when not having eaten anything before after being banded. We just don't tolerate foods the way we used too, especially ones that potentially are gaseous. Yes I should have know this. I still am not the best today and I have to go to work. More gas-x for me!!
  6. I understand the convenience thing and not having to wait and all the great stuff you listed. You are strong and far more than you realize. Great attitude too. Yeah, use him for your needs and then you'll show him!!
  7. Oh take cover!! I forget about you folks living where that stuff happens. Batten down the hatches!! Got your emergency goodies all in place? Hope it's not too bad and even less than predicted.
  8. Is anyone going to be there on the 26th? So far I am missing all my buddies. I'll be there in the afternoon so most likely you'll already have had surgery and I can come and tickle your toes to make you laugh...just kidding.
  9. Kim I am glad you got what you wanted. Sorry you had to experience the sickness first, but maybe that helped to show you how too full feels. It sound like you are just right for now. Imagine this..a Dr. actually asking what a patient wants and then giving it to them(within reason of course), what a concept!! How are you doing today? Any problems? Do you get full quickly?
  10. Yay for you in finding someone close and with fluoro. Hope this fill kicks in to be "the one"!!!
  11. Barb you look MARVELOUS!! You are truly an inspiration. You have kicked my butt into high gear. Thanks for sharing the pics. :lb10:

    VERY HURT

Oh honey I am so sorry for your pain. It took real guts to just keep driving. This could have been an excerpt from a chapter of my previous marriage. Yes I said previous. Verbal abuse is real, but then again I only know what you have written. Good for you for coming here to vent as well. This forum is invaluable for so many. I am glad we are here for you. Please know I care. Also I hope that you are able to get through these next days by staying true to yourself. Yes men can be very mean at times with constant negative talk(so can women so don't say I am prejudice all of ya). But when you are the target it stinks. Don't make a rash decision you will regret, or perhaps just a threat that you don't intend to follow through on. It sounds like there is much more to this than just what happened at the concert tonight. You need to dig deep girl and evaluate your marriage and your lives together before you choose a path which may or may not be the best for you and your family. Hugs to you sweetie. Please stay with us on this one and post when you need to.
  13. Yes I'd stay away from the pilates for 3 months. Yoga also has alot of "core"stuff, but I don't know for sure about it. I have always wanted to start doing these. My WII FIT has yoga and I've tried that but I am too out of shape to even do the basic stuff. I pulled a muscle the first time I tried it and it hurt for days. I need to modify it so I don't do that again for sure. Now I bet you are on cloud 9 today. Food and rocking the little one to sleep...how much better does it get? Have a great day and be careful of the food, go slow and chew well. You'll be surprised at how quickly you get full. Don't push it as I'm sure you won't.
  14. Glad to hear you are doing better today. I love barbershop quartets, they are sooo cool to listen to. Such talent. Yes losing weight will certainly help you sing! Are you still on a liquid diet? How's that for you?
  15. Protein....I eat tuna for lunch,19grams in 3oz, I add a little spinach and a carb veggie like snap peas, just a few. I also bought some fresh frozen baby shrimp in a 2 pound bag. I just pour out 3-4 oz when I want it and its eaten the same way. Now I have had to resort to powdered protein and/or protein shakes with high protein content to get enough in most days. For breakfast I was having just a protein shake but now after talking to a nutritionist I eat oatmeal with a scoop of max muscle(many other brands out there and mentioned on this forum). I also add glutamine and yes the dreaded flax seed oil to it. It really isn't that bad and I just eat it because I know it's good for me. They key is to always have a carb with a protein, even in small amounts. The carb kicks the protein into being burned instead of your own muscle and also helps regulate blood sugars. For snack I have beef or turkey jerkey, or a south beach protein bar. Hope these tips help. I've got more!! Just ask.
  16. I'd like a definite answer as well. Hummmmmmmm.. .. I need to get my thinking cap on. Oh but I can't find my thinking cap these days!!
  17. How are you today? Still as bad with pain? How about the anxiety. Check in so we know you are doing ok.
  18. Don't forget the special K protein water, crystal light and gatorade. You can freeze any of these in ice cube trays for easy little servings that last longer Edit: Now they have the zero calorie gatorade, can't remember the name of it though.
  19. For most people this is the start of days off. What will you guys be doing this weekend? For me I have to work but do have today off. I am going to get as much ready as I can for our vacation. We leave next thursday bright and early, well maybe not so bright or so early but before like 10:00:) We're driving about 8 hours to northern Idaho to Lake Ponderay(sp?). Meeting my husband's family for a week of camping. We have rented a darling little cabin on the lake and others have motor homes and boats!! The sad news is my husband was checking the weather for that area and on the day we arrive it is supposed to rain. Go figure.
  20. Missed you, and glad to see you're back. I am 3 weeks away from my 2nd fill. Yes I must use my willpower or I would overeat as of the last few days especially. It sucks when the restriction dyes down. I can't wait for my 2nd fill. Good old portion control is my best friend now and worst enemy!! Just kidding, sort of!
  21. Yes this forum is invaluable to many, in many different stages of this journey. The thing is we all have so many things in common and we can't help but feel bonded. Others have said this and I'll just repeat it here..."I never knew I have so many friends I've never met" or something like that. This is a place of support, education, stress relief, and just plain old fun. Here's to the OCC!!
  22. I'm excited for your fill, hope it goes smoothly.
  23. Good to hear. I am so much the wimp when it comes to pain I just can't imagine having any cosmetic surgery. Anyway I think modern medicine is great for those that can afford it. For those of us who can't, or perhaps just don't want to put ourself through this than we will have to stick to good old mother nature and lots of exercise. I have heard Pilates is really good for toning and someday hope to be able to do it. Also Yoga(?) perhaps. If you belong to a gym sign up for maybe even 1 or 2 training sessions to get some tips on the best toning exercises. I know free weights and those tension bands are great too. Try to use the stationary weight machines starting now also. They are great for beginners. Good luck and congratulations on your great loss so far.
  24. Hey Kimmy: Here's wishing you the best fill ever...I know you have been frustrated with your first fill center so I hope this one is what you need for some good restriction. You deserve it. Your new pic is so awesome....but where are those gorgeous legs honey, I'd be showing those off if I was you! I know you were excited to show off your sexy size 12's to us all though!! And Old Navy at that. You are such an inspiration to me and all of us here so please know you will be in my prayers for your fill. Now remember those empty liquid calories on Bourban street really arn't the best, and no flashing your cute little *%#$# to try and get beads. (Does that happen all year round?) Have fun seriously.
  25. Me Julie? If so then thanks for the thoughts. If not then you can hear how I am anyway...LOL! My restriction is going away. a little more each day. But then out of nowhere something will get stuck. It's because I have eaten a bite too fast and not chewed it though. I am sticking to my program much better now. I finally am getting enough protein in. I have some energy again. I am feeling good about myself and know this is going to work. Thanks for asking. And I can't wait because we go on vacation 1 week from today..Yippee!!
