Sounds like a virus to me. Try to keep hydrated. No reason to think anything is wrong with your band. I know what you mean though. I have been having stomach cramps lately, in the pouch area and the first thing I think is "is something wrong with my band'? Unless you did something specific to perhaps injure it you shouldn't worry there's something wrong with the band. Now get well soon!!

Hey Erin...I tried to find the cut clothes. I am sorry but I am not at all familiar with myspace and it's just so busy with all the things on it. Not very user friendly for someone who is not in that generation of using it. Maybe you can make them a little easier to find or maybe it's just me, I am sort of computer illiterate but I am getting better. I did click on some pics but nothing like clothes came up.

I'm programming my DVR no matter what. I hope they don't change the date and not tell anyone.

OK so here goes the nurse in me....you must POOP!! Not going is what is making you feel so bad, really . Also not getting any nourishment adds to that. I suggest as gross as this is for you or someone you love to go buy yourself 2 things...glycerine suppositories and a fleets enema(or whatever generic brand). You need to get the "crap" out and by now the more "passive" things are not working. You also need to drink prune juice, I don't care how nasty you may think it is, just drink it. 3-4 ounces twice a day to start with. You can mix it with apple juice if you have to to make it easier to take. And about the yogurt, force yourself to eat it. A sip at a time but you MUST eat!!! Your body will shut down and you will stop losing weight. Your body is bloated because you are starving it from food and hydration. Think of a picture of the starving kids in India with their little bellies all bloated out...that's what's happening. Not to be harsh here but you need to take care of yourself. I also suggest you call the OCC and talk to Dr. Miranda ...TODAY. She is a nutritionist and will give you the best advice to follow. Once again I hope you follow the above suggestions and get back on track, take care honey!!

terrible, terrible fill experience
julieburns replied to my_friend_amber's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
OMG you poor baby. I am so sorry you had to have such a horrific experience. No this is not normal, again. I too was fearful of the same thing happening so I was fortunate to be able to work an extra shift and save the money to go back to the OCC. How are you doing today? I bet your belly is sore, to put it mildly, and the bruising for sure!! Once again I am so sorry to hear this for you. It's the one in a million that happens like this and this doctor should be reported for lack of knowledge about how to perform this procedure effectively and safely and without TRAUMA to the patient. I mean really to have you shaking like you describe is not the norm. That happens when you are having such an adrenaline rush from pain and it's the fight or flight response kicking in. Women in labor shake uncontrollably as well as post op surgery patients, not fill patients!! Oh I am so mad I could spit nails when I hear of a Dr. continuing to practice on a patient like this. The dummy should have left the needle in after he put the fills in for safety's sake in case just what happened to you happened!!! OMG!! I pray for you to heal from this trauma and be able to trust again with your next fill. I am sure you will find an experienced Doc that is available to you closer, or even go back to the OCC...Take care sweetie!! -
Glad you found it. Yes the protein water packets I refer to are made by Special K and can be found in the diet drinks/bars sections of the store. They also make actual premade bottles of the "protein water" which are great too but not easy to transport. I had no problems with any of the items in powdered form I took. Neither airport security or the border patrol took a second look at my "powders" Hope this helps.

Dr. Miranda wrote on my instructions that on day 4 you could have liquid yogurt if you needed it, which I did. At day 7 you can start the full liquid phase which consists of creamy soups, ice cream type things, yogurt, puddings, and whatever else you can think of. These things need to have no chunks...period. Stop freaking out you are moving past the first several days and healing is already happening. I do like my protein water. I also added benbefiber to anything liquid as it dissolves completely and there is no sign you have added it. It gives you the fiber you need to help stay full. Hope this helps.

The milkshake is fine. Many of us have "tested" out our band in the liquid stage. Don't feel like you are the only one who has done this. I know no one is perfect and we all will slip in some way or another. The important thing to do is dust yourself off and start all over again. Each day or even each hour is a new beginning!! Take care and be healthy!!

Yesterday while I was at the store I came out and parked a few cars down was a land cruiser with a beautiful yellow lab in it. It was about 80 degrees and he did have the back windows open about 8 inches but I was so mad. The dog had it's head out the window and was panting and I was boiling mad!! I went into the store with the license plate number and had them announce to the owner to come to the car immediately. After about 10 minutes this guy came out, late 20's mid 30's, and I was watching him go up to his car from a distance. As he put his groceries into the car I walked up to him and told him how hot it can get in a vehicle even on a relatively cool day. He said nothing in response which was fine. I told him he didn't deserve a pet. He walked over to put his cart away and all he could say to me was.."Why don't you go on a diet!!" My heart sank. I never expected that type of answer but can see how I was an easy target and that's all he could come up with quickly to hurt my feelings. What a jerk. I guess I did take a risk but I am an animal advocate through and through. I walked away and said nothing after that. As he drove away his lab looked at me like he was smiling and trying to apologize for his horrible owner. Boy if I could have gotten that dog out the window I would have. Better yet I thought later I should have cooled the dog down by pouring one of my bottled waters on it, while in the back seat of the guys car!! I know it wasn't scorchingly hot but I just had to say something. It certainly made me aware of how the world sees me though....as a fat person!! I know he was a jerk and all but it still hurt. It took me back to grade school and I was teased for being overweight. It still stings!! But yes I do know he is a jerk and to consider the source.

Stuff to absolutely take with me
julieburns replied to OICU812's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
See the post I just bumped up for you. It's called Suggestions of what to take to TJ... I hope others will add more to it so it's a 1 stop list for anyone that needs it. -
This list I started awhile ago. Someone was asking for it and I don't know how to just send the thread to them. Maybe we can add to this again for an even more comprehensive list. Hope this helps OICU812

Yeah it's been great for me thanks to you mona. But I think maybe people are just busy and it takes extra time to do this. It's easier to just bag it up and donate it for some. I will post stuff as I go down in weight but I havn't gone down enough to get rid of many things yet.

Worried I messed something up
julieburns replied to Mizzoupoodle's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
You most likely just pulled the muscle in the area of the port a little bit. You are still in such an early healing phase that there is alot of swelling and inflammation. So it's like you already had a bruised area and you just hit it again, sort of. Your body is healing and it's so early you most likely did not damage. It should settle down in a day or two. Perhaps an ice pack up to 48 hours and then a heating pad to settle it down a bit. -
Hi Kelsey: Havn't heard from you in a while. How is your pre-op diet going? Only 6 days until your surgery. I am so excited for you. It's cool how your mom is having it done also. That will be the best support for each of you by doing this together. I noticed you live here in the PDX area. I have lived in the Portland area for a long time and do consider it home. Hope to hear from you before your big day. If not you can post from "the other side"!!

The OCC has a package deal for your fill and the transportation to and from the airport and then a night or 2 at the hotel if you stay over. Or they just have the transportation plus the fill price. I did it this way and it was a breeze. What I think is so slick with using the OCC is that they get to use the "commercial" lane of traffic and a different line at the immigration station. It goes very quickly as opposed to standing in lines for an unpredictable amount of time. The day I was coming home was a friday afternoon around 1pm and the line to walk through on your own was endless!! I asked Francisco (the OCC driver) if there was any time that was a good time to plan on not being in line so long if you walk and he said it really is just a gamble. He goes back and forth many times every day and he says it's always different. Now yes you can split the cost with someone else who is getting a fill if you can find someone. I found the price to be well worth it just for the ease of the whole thing.

I'm not sure I've heard of this. It sure sounds nice and convenient though.

Oh Donna how scary. I am so happy your pup is alright. Those little stinkers!! And yes the band is a blessing is disguise. I can't believe the cost of vet care and how it is so inflated! For some people they can't afford this care and then the animals suffer. You are a good mommie to your baby. Hope she's continues to heal well with no more incidences like this, or even close to this!! What strength you had to maintain your emotional eating to just 1 goodie. Now that is true strength!!

Oh Vix, I am sorry but you knew he would blow a rod. You can't "fix"this. I don't mean to say mean things because I am sure he loves and cares for you well being but it sound so much like a control issue. If he would open up to being educated, perhaps talking to Dr. O then my suspicions would go down about the control thing. Try to address the issues he has and then see. Hugs and love to you sweetie, hang in there.

all I can say is OMG!! That poor desperate woman.

Don't be discouraged LadyV as you know we all lose at our own pace. It can be very frustrating when you see others numbers dropping more quickly than yours. You lost 6 pounds during a month when you are to be healing and not worry about weight loss so count this as a bonus. For some it's few giant leaps and for others it's baby steps all the way and others it's a mix. Easy to say but try and settle that in your heart so you won't be discouraged. Be proud of what YOU do!!

Fill Centers USA -Austin, TX
julieburns replied to crazycoolbutterfly's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I read everything on this forum. There sure is alot of discussion about fills. I like hearing all the different things that people have to go through to do this. It helps me to try and make an educated choice when it's time for my next fill. Butterfly your experience does not sound very good. All the things you listed made me cringe. Not just the procedure itself but the $$$$$. I hope you can have a better experience next time no matter where you go and feel like you are not being ripped off. -
Oh Stacey don't be so hard on yourself for a dab of yogurt you needed to take some meds. On the 4th day post-op liquid yogurts are ok anyway. I can't answer to the feelings you are having described as "feeling like my inside is ripping when I move". I just chalk it up to the healing process and the new band inside and the port all getting settled into your body. As you move you use your muscles and this will cause these things to shift perhaps giving you the "ripping" feeling. Give it a few more days. I hope you are feeling better. :kiss3:
