  1. The previous posters have mentioned the thing about the liver. Don't worry about not losing the weight, just stress how you followed the eating plan without deviation. I'm excited for you and this wonderful journey you are about to begin. Blessings to you!!
  2. Glad you got the protein drinks. My stomach started growling on day 2 really loudly and constantly. the funny thing was at that time I didn't "feel" hungry. My stomach seemed full. So I just let it growl. I also then had the growls and started to be so hungry I wanted to eat a horse and chase the rider, but of course didn't. I then just focused on keeping the liquids going. This phase is for healing, not weight loss, so one thing I did was take my protein shakes and freeze them, or blend them with ice to have a "shake". I also added benefiber to most my liquids to help keep me full. You will get through this. Just focus on the goal and try not to eat what you shouldn't have too soon. The guilt is not worth it. I tried thinned mashed potatoes on the creamy soup phase, it was really just milk and mashed potatoes so thin I could have used a straw so I thought that was ok at that time.
  3. So glad Meredith is OK. I do hope as you said no one gets worried that this too can happen to them. It does sound like a 1 in a million type of thing. Praise God she is ok and maybe home already as I type this!!
  4. You go girl...... :lb10: :lb21: I really noticed the difference in your face, also you do look younger as someone else mentioned already but it NEVER hurts to hear that!!! You look Marvelous!!
  5. Any news yet? I understand your fears, I too lost a 40yo sister, then my mother. When you've had this type of loss you worry a little more. Read Paula Bee's post on "with Gratitude" and I am sure it will help, although warning, it will make you cry!!
  6. I just got these in the mail from Mona yesterday. They are PERFECT!!! I wanted to thank you for your generosity. They are brand new and I am wearing them today. They are soft and stretchy and fit great. Will be good for me for several more pounds lost as they fit on the tight side, but not too tight. It's so nice to have this exchange. I am so thankful for it and for Mona for posting such cool stuff!!
  7. Me neither, been banded since the 4th of June. I wish you well on your journey. Drive safely. Keep posting and you'll get all the support and answers you may need, even more!!
  8. No worries the hotel is very clean. I've only had 1 problem and that is with the beds. My first time I had 1 king size bed and it was as comfy as can be. The next morning a fellow bandster to be was complaining her bed was hard as a rock, she had 2 in her room. I thought she might just be a little picky. Well my bad for judging her. I had 2 beds in my room last time and OMG they both were like cement!! I switched from bed to bed all night and never slept. They even had some sort of foam thing on them but it was no help. So if you can ask for a king bed and you may have better luck than with 2 beds in 1 room , unless you need the 2 beds. Just a thought. Anyone else have this experience?
  9. :lb10: :lb24: I believe this to be true too. I am just starting on my journey but i already fel better both physically and mentally.
  10. Ok Paula now I am crying and I just got ready for work, makeup and all. This song has had a very special place in my heart since my mom's untimely death 5 years ago. I have shouted it to the mountaintops when I hear it on the radio. I can just imagine your beautiful voice singing it to me. Thank you for the beautiful moment!!! What a beautiful tribute to the good Lord!! (or whomever you may think of when you hear it!!
  11. I too have sleep apnea and type 2 diabetes, just since being fat the last 5 years. During the liquid phase I just monitored my BS alot more than usual. I did drink regular fruit juices cut in half by water. You need some sugar, or at least I did for the calories and little boost of energy. I used about half and half sugar free stuff and regular stuff. I take 1 metformin 2 times a day prior to surgery. During my liquid phase I only had to take 1 many days. Now after my 1st fill I also am only taking 1 on most days. It's amazing how quickly my body has headed back to normal. Now mind you my diabetes was never way out of control, never a sugar over 200 after eating so each person will vary. Now about the sleep apnea. I have a different kind that isn't a true apnea where I stop breathing. From all the medicine I had to take for my fibromyalgia my oxygen sats actually dropped while I slept because I didn't breathe deeply or enough. This respiratory depression is from the medication. As I have lost weight and became more active my pain is better and I am now taking far less than I did last summer when I started to lose weight. I KNOW as I lose more weight I will go in and have another sleep test to see if I need it. So the news is good for you too. These 2 things can and will most likely be helped with weight loss!!
  12. I love reading stuff like this. I can only second everything they all have said. I went alone and had a great time. I looked at it as a little getaway just for me. My husband would have gone had I thought I needed him but I just knew I would be fine after reading my eyes out on this forum. I second the point made though to leave your travel data and the clinics number with someone you trust dearly to keep your secret, there must be one person. You really don't have to tell them anything about the surgery just where you are staying and the number they can reach you at, that being the OCC. I hope after reading all this you have a sense of calmness about the procedure and your decision. No you are not crazy you are doing the right thing for you!!
  13. :lb21: :lb24: :lb10: Sometimes the NSV's are just what we need to keep us motivated.
  14. So glad you felt comfortable enough with us to post your pic. I think it personalizes this forum for you as well as us to see who we actually are behind our names. Welcome with open arms!!
  15. That's cool. This is such a small world when it all comes down to it. Nice avatar!! Do you play? Or just listen with enthusiasm?
  16. Oh you are too cute! I had the same feelings. Imagine though for me when I had to cancel my first surgery and lose the plane tickets and thought I'd never get it done and had just also lost the deposit. I waited another 3 months before I got approval. Again :lb10: What's hubby's level of happiness? Excited, nervous? down right scared? All of the above? You guys will do great and especially because you have each other. Now just trust this will happen smoothly and safely as it did for all of us!!
  17. I used the website"Cheaptickets". I watched it for a number of days and then finally bought when the prices dipped. I did not check directly through the airlines as I have always just used this site. It's the easiest one for me. There are a number of others you just google "airline tickets" and they all come up. I warn you though many of them show a cheap price and then the taxes make up the price to what the cheaptickets sight is. Good luck on you tickets
  18. :lb10: :lb21: Yippee for you Kim and hubbie. Can't wait for your surgery. Yes this will happen. I remember when I got the ok on my financing I called the OCC first thing. No hesitation at all. And I had the double thinking like you have right now. So now you can really Believe!!! He does make things happen!!
  19. Isn't it nice to have the friends from you banding day? Happygirl02 I was glad to see your post. Sounds like you had a great bunch that day. I wish you all a quick road to recovery if you're not there already!! And I know about the liquids once again. I am relying them afer my 1st fill for the most part. I wish I had the time to make homemade chicken stock, Yummy!! Take care to all of you and best wishes in the weeks ahead.
  20. :lb21: :lb10: :lb24: So happy for you! You look marvelous!!
  21. I hope she's ok. I'll say a prayer for her. Keep us posted. Poor thing, she must be miserable. Hopefully they are giving her some good pain drugs!! And hopefully they work for her!!
  22. I tried wearing one at work and it kept falling off or bothering me at the waist of my pants. It clicked with each step and tha drove me nuts. Sort of like a time bomb ticking away in my pocket. I used a cheap one fro Kaiser so maybe I need to get a different one if I get one. Do others hear the ticking noise or was it just my freebie from kaiser? The few days I wore it I got over 15,000 step each day at only work!! I knew I walked alot at work. :lb25: Since my fill I havn't had any energy and havn't done any extra exercise. My bad!! I just feel like "CRAP" also because Aunt Flo is 10 days late.......no I'm not pregnant just menapausal and it sucks!! I'm going to try my Wiifit today just to do something light and get me moving.
  23. Well we can get through this together then. I just did it again with potato soup. 2 bites and WHAM....pain!! I chewed it and everything but oh I feel it still as it is sloooooowwwllly going down. Can't stand this. But yes we will survive and come out that much thinner for it!! Take it easy BeBe
