Keep up the great work. You are losing weight at a very fast rate the last few weeks. It's great but be careful not to go too fast with it. Again :lb10:

I love the shopping cart full of sugar idea!! What a great visual and mental reminder of where we've been. I too am planning on 10 pound litlte "rewards" for myself. My first mini-goal of getting under 200 which is about 30 more pounds I am going to really treat myself and get my eyebrows permanently tattoo'd on, again. I had it done about 10 years ago and the pigment is all gone. I loved it when I had it because my eyebrows are very weird and have areas that grow no hair. So that's my first big "treat" when I reach 199!!

I did know this and am so glad you posted it to remind me to save my receipts.

I know exactly what you are talking about. In my head I am feeling slighted because I can't eat like a bottomless pit. I know I really don't want to nor will I do that but it's is a weird head thing. I also need to chew more and can only still eat maybe 2 bites of anything solid. I too have done my share of Pbing because I don't go slow enough and chew and also may have chosen some food that just won't work for my band. I just chalk it up to learning a whole new way of eating and it may take a time to adjust to this and get it down .

Liquid Diet Before or After a Fill?
julieburns replied to 1jmk's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
After a fill the OCC instructs us to be on liquids for 3 days, at least that's what Dr. So had me do. Before your fill you should have no food for 4 hours but can sip liquids. 1 hour before no liquids especially anything cold. Ask your doctor is you are not going to the OCC for their instructions though. -
Works to help the stuff go down or come back up?
-
Absolutely!! All are welcome from this forum from anywhere around our area or not. I just want to plan a fun get together for us to meet our forum buddies!! You may even be banded by then!! Keep up the positive attitude and my prayers are also with you.

Cannot get this outta my head

Too funny. I guess from the mens point of view this is a little overkill. Now the women are very sweet and super great at what they do but since I am a woman I will let you form your own opinions about this. -
Good for you. I'll be curious how this goes for you. The fluoro will make it easy even for "training" so no worries!! I'm on the fly now to work but will start a thread soon about some sort of local get together. Perhaps this fall after school starts but before the holiday season begins as I know people get busy. :good3:

Thanks. I got 1.8 cc in a 4 cc band. I went to the OCC and they use fluoro, that's why I went. I have heard good things about Dr. Fitzpatrick also and she does NOT use fluoro. If $$$$ is an issue for me next fill I may try her. My friend goes to her and is very happy. She always has hit her port 1st poke and is very available if you have problems. Are you in PDX or close? I was thinking the PDX and surrounding bandsters should have a get together. Anyone interested? Maybe I'll post a new thread and inquire if anyone is interested. I'd love to actually meet some other people here in town to use as another support system.

I am curious about the Isopure powder you guys ordered. I am picky about flavors so please post and let us all know how you like this when you get it. Thanks for being the testers!! -
I'm finally here and sooooo ready

Hey Trudy are you done yet? I can't wait to hear from you and know you are done and feeling well. Alana I think the no shopping thing is just so we take it easy and relax. Walking around in the heat can be exhausting to someone who may not be used to it as well as dehydrating. It's important to get a good nights rest if you can, by just being "quiet" in your hotel room. -
The Oregonian says. Police officer may be fired

I saw that article too in the paper and wanted to post it. I'm just not smart enough to figure out how to do it. My husband pointed it out to me in the paper with a smile. Not a mean one but one that said "How crazy was she?" To accept money from donations for that purpose was just wrong, especially when she was not truthful about it to the EAP folks. They are held to being confidential. Anyway what a scandal in our little hometown!! -
As many of the others doctors there are too!!! Great eye candy especially when on drugs!!

Thanks all for your well wishes. By last night I was doing better. I drank a fair amount of gatorade and protein water. I had soup and some watermelon for late dinner. Just about 1/2 cup total was all though and I was full for sure. I think I may be like some of you who's band is tighter in the AM and eases by the evening. I hope this restriction lasts now that I feel better. This Am I took my pills with a few sips of juice and still feel them almost 1 hour later. It's so weird. It didn't hurt though I just feel full!! So I think I am going to be ok, just must be very careful. Now is when the food choices are extremely important so I get some energy back. I am so tired!! I can't take my usual vitamins and never did try any liquid ones. Hopefully a few more days and I'll be able to try them. If not I may have to resort to some liquids though.

Try taking off about $9 or $10 grand from what they've quoted you and that's the approx. price at the OCC. Yes you could save around 8-9 thousand dollars after you airfare, again this is just approximate and I don't want to quote prices as they are a private matter and I respect the OCC and that they should be the ones to give you exact numbers. So if insurance doesn't cover it then Dr. Ortiz would be my next option.

Hi guys and gals: Just a quick post to update you on my 1st fill. Today is day 4 or 5 however you look at it since on last thursday and friday they checked and filled my port. Anyway I know I probably have swelling and was told to stay on liquids for 3 days or until after Sunday. Yesterday I tried to eat 1-2 bites of some soft chicken and it hurt all the way. Started to PB at work. YUK!! I waited for about 4 hours and then ate 3 cherries. Yes I chewed them up very well but again the Pbing started. Not radical but enough to not feel good and be in the bathroom for about 10-15 minutes. I havn't had much water the last few days and feel like I am getting dehydrated. I have a headache, my blood sugar is suprisingly HIGH (usually happens with illness, stress stec) and I have to go to work in an hour!! I am hoping its just some extra swelling and am going to say on liquids only today for sure. I've got to get more fluid in but it also hurts now going down. AAAAAGGGH! Just wanted to whine a little, now I feel better. It's so funny how we all want this "restriction" but then at first when we have it it's very difficult, at least for me, to be ok with it. Any Ideas or suggestions as to how to get the fluids in besides going in the bathroom at work and starting my own IV? Just kidding , there's no way I could hit my own tiny veins anyway if I tried!! I think I am still ok but just need to start sipping on the gatorade as much as I can.

Anyone still eating lean cuisine
julieburns replied to lock27's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I think I will rely on these lovely little convenience foods when I start eating solids again. I find them very convenient for lunch and my dinner since I work swing shift. With all the new brands and variety's they have now you can get some really good ones with just the exact amounts of carbs and protein you want. But if you don't like them or want to use them I'm sure there are many other options. Numerous recipe books are out there with healthy eating. Also just look online for some great recipes that can be made quickly, easily cheaply and go all the way up to as gourmet as you like. For some variety is the way to go and others like the same structure in their diet. Only you can determine this so try something different to figure out what you like. Hope this helps -
I'm upset, I dont know what is going on
julieburns replied to stormy's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Oh Stormy....maybe you need to change your screen name. Seems like this ordeal of getting financing is more than just Stormy!! I so feel for you. I actually had to cancel my first scheduled surgery date and lost the plane ticket because of the #*#!*#* financing people. I know how this sucks. I am fairly religious and do believe God will provide for you, but it maybe in His timing. That's the hard one to wrap yourself around sometimes. I will ramp up my prayers for you Kim. This is a stressful time for you so whatever it takes try and do something to get your mind off of it. Yes easier said than done but try. Especially if IBS may be a diagnosis. Again I will keep you in my prayers. Hugs to you -
You're doing great Trina.

julieburns replied to Kim2BSlim's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Good for you Kimmy....play the game to get what you want. I sure hope this fill helps you have the restriction you need. -
Good for you!!! HOw did you find this doc? If I may ask approx. what does he charge? Just tell me if it's none of my business. I hope to get some "work" done when I get to goal so I am starting now to do my homework. Thanks and I'm sure someone here will fill you in about him.
