This is a fun one. How about ...Lady for you anything, you name price! -
Simply....maybe not!! I've heard though much farther out like 6 months or 1 year people have some pop/beer if they are careful with it. Maybe there's hope for you

Home from 1st fill trip
julieburns replied to julieburns's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Oh and one thing I forgot to mention......Since the fill I have been soooo well shall we say "gassy" Even with the beano and gas-x. And the terrible thing was on the plane, OMG I thought I was going to die. Nothing let loose out loud but occasionally I couldn't help myself. Luckily there were 2 kids sitting behind me that could be the culprits if people tried to figure it out. I know I'm bad. Has anyone else had this happen. It's mostly the basement type. -
I think you drinking the water 1 hour after as instructed is just fine. It's actually great you get so much in. I have to cut my water off about 2-3 hours before bedtime or I'm up all night peeing!! Maybe a few sips but no big glasses full.

Home from 1st fill trip
julieburns replied to julieburns's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Yeah I am sure the fill amount is what it should be. Today I've just had my liquids and been feeling "full" all day for the most part. So there must be swelling because I know the liquids go through. My stomach is growling tonight but I don't feel like I need to eat. Now on the other hand my head is telling me to "EAT,EAT" Your stomach's growling you are hungry. My husband is BBQ'ing lovely steaks and fresh veggies on the grill as I type this. OH it smells so good when he opens the back door. I will not eat any of it though because I can have that all too soon and I don't want to screw anything up. So knows he's in the living room eating his lovely steak and veggies and all I did was smelll them as he went by. Yummy I just dranka little thing of liquid probiotic Dannon yogurt...Does it compare?? NOT!! -
Kind of makes sense but if we used that logic we wouldn't drink for 3-4 hours after meals. Interesting point.

To Cathy: Wow what a lucky woman you are with restriction still after 6 weekis. Maybe that's the advantage you have over us "mexican"bandits.... :girl_sigh: Glad you are doing well. Now to Paula: I am so glad I am not alone. I almost didn't even post that I went back because I was so embarrassed of myself even at the Dr.s office. I now know I am not the only one who wants the best bang for our buck to to speak. So I guess I have to wait it out. Dr. Acosta said to email him in 5 days to let him know how I was doing. You bet I will. -
Tristessa; glad you came to the forum before your surgery. By the time Nov. rolls around you'll know all youneed to know, and probably even way more. I just got back from the OCC last night for my 1st fill. I wish I would have spent some extra days in San Diego like you are planning. And about this forum, Don't be shy, come and play everyday!!

Lynn you have such awesome legs!!! They look smaller than my upper arm!! The rest of you look pretty hot too!! Not knowing you I can see a huge difference in your pics. Your tummy is almost flat now and oh those legs!! Did I mention I am jealous of your legs? Hope this cheers you up. I read all the time of your adventures in exercising so yes you do work hard. It will pay off, like you said just maybe not as quickly as you'd like. Also the age thing (although you are still nice and young) does play into how easy it is to lose weight. Keep your chin up cutie, you can see a huge difference from my standpoint.

What a great tool. Eating this much was no problem for me the last 2 weeks. I'll be curious to see now after my fill.

Body Contouring Slideshow
julieburns replied to bandgroupie's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I worked briefly in the plastic surgery day surgery area. We did bobs, tummies, lipo, eyes, faces, everything. I am not so sure I can stand to have anything done except maybe my boobs. I know I'll need a reduction because as big as they are now I can't imagine the empty sacks they'll be hanging after I lose my weight!! OK maybe TMI. -
Need encouragement and advice
julieburns replied to cherb's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
The way you describe your "pbing" it sounds like you need to have your Dr. check it out. This isnt normal without even a first fill and so many months out from surgery. I urge you to get to your Dr. asap. With this stuff going on the last thing yo need is a fill. I think you should go on liquids for a few days to try and calm your tummy down a little especially if you can't see the Dr. for a few days as it's the weekend. Yes it will be tough but your health depends on it. You have had such great weight loss without a fill already. Please try the liquids for a few days to help know if things will calm down on liquids alone. then gradually add it soft mushy food and chew it well. Keep us posted. -
Yes I was told by Dr. Miranda at the OCC to try to stay under 1200 calories a day. For me so far, since I just got my first fill yesterday, my problem is trying to not overeat. It had been sheer will power for me and I'll admit at times I have not been so great. I pray now for some restriction for even a few days to stay on the right track.

I love how all the guys are coming out of the woodwork. Welcome Cujo and what a :lb23: to get your band. I was at the OCC yesterday and there were 2 men getting banded that day. It's great to have a partner in this lifestyle too!!

I thought that was the case. I cringe when I see the phentermine words next to the stars. Yes I too used this POISEN to lose weight. Made me crazy, literally!. I not only lost weight but lost my first husband too because of the effects it had on me mentally. I did crazy things I would have never done if I wasn't on it. Bad news and really it's not worth it. Of course I gained all the weight back and more to get me where I am today. If anyone is reading this and is considering using this please DON'T. I'd be happy to talk to anyone about my experience. Anyway I know we bandsters are not using it but just in case there is anyone reading this for information prior to banding or another weight loss attempt.

Lap Band Storyline on a Soap Opera
julieburns replied to MamaMichelle's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
What an interesting thread. I am a die hard General Hospital fan and have never watched any other soap. I think it's great GL is doing the story line and it's real!! -
So I'm back!!! I got home late last night, couldn't wait to get into my own bed. This morning I don't feel too well, not all band related though. My fibromyalgia has kicked in. It does this whenever I get out of my normal routine of life. I just lain hurt all over from my head to my toes. Also I have a slight sore throat and am stuffed up with sinus stuff. Yippee!! I know al of you really just want to hear about my fill experience so here goes. Dr. So did it and was both so easy on the eyes and on my port. It did pinch a little when he put the needle in but that was it. He then sat me up and had me drink a series of sips of barium (not bad to sip) and watched it flow from my esophagus to my pouch and then on into my old stomach. It's neat to watch. He injected a small amount of saline and then would have me swallow again and again until he saw restriction of some sort on the screen. It's very subtle. At 1.8 cc he said that was enough. I then drank a small bottle of water before I went back to the hotel. Overnight I had soup and kept thinking about why only 1.8cc's instead of 2. He had done a fine explanation of the reasoning and how each person is different and this is a slow, slow, steady process that requires alot of patience. Since people fly in and out for fill they are over cautious about overfilling for the simple fact of patient safety and the ability to come back if it is too tight. Yes I heard all this and I fully understood this but somehow I felt I was shorted that extra .2cc that I could have gotten to make it a full 2 cc. To make a long story shorter I went back the next morning to have it checked. The charming Dr. Acosta was very patient and kind with me. I know I was questioning Dr. So's professional judgement but it didn't matter to me until I got there. Then I started to feel really bad(emotionally, not physically) about even going back. The patient Dr. Acosta took time with me and did check to see if anymore would go in. This time when he put the needle in I didn't even feel it!!! That was so nice. Anyway as I thought before he even did the testing he stuck with the 1.8 cc. I was embarrassed throughout the whole time I was there that I had even gone there. What got into me? I even cried. I guess that desire to get the most for my money and flight down there overcame by own sensibility. Anyway after that I went back to the hotel, had some broth and apple juice with no problems at all and caught the shuttle to the airport. I actually felt like crap the whole day because I hadn't slept well because of a rock hard bed and had a throbbing almost migraine type headache. I couldn't wait for the 4 hours I had to kill at the airport to pass. At one point I found an empty gate sort of by itself and went to the very back and actually just layed down on the carpeted floor for about 45 minutes. I just had to lie down and the airport has nowhere for that. I got up feeling a little better. And the time finally came to board the plane. Today I got up as usual and took my morning meds, only 2 pills to start with with a few sips of water. Oh man could I feel them go down the whole way and then stick in my pouch area for awhile. The water felt like it was in my throat for minutes but it passed. I guess I now must have some swelling and as people say the morning thing about the band being tighter in the Am have kicked in. I will be very careful over the next few days to baby it and just sip on the liquids for another 2 days. Sorry this is so long, but I wanted to update all of you. Have a nice weekend to each of you!!

Cathy you are so smart!!
-
Sorry you are ill. Yes you can take OTC meds or any RX they prescribe to you. Just get liquuid or crush the pills or open the capsules and mix it with some liquid yogurt to take. Yes even though it's only day 5, to take meds this way at this point is reasonable.

I just a few minutes or less to type. I am at the hotel Lucerna, post-fill and waiting for Francisco to pick me up to go to the airport. I am doing gret. I actually went back this morning after being filled yesterdayto have it checked. No problems just thought I had not enough put in. Anyway I''ll type more later, probably late tonight or tomorrow about all of this. I slept awful. My bed last time was a king and soo comfortable. This time I had 2 beds in the room, doubles or queens and both you hard as ROCKS!! So painful with my fibromyalgia today from this. I was up almost every hour and just couldn't get comfortable. They did have some sort of foam mattress on top of the main mattress but it was very broken down and did no good at all. My advice to all if possible ask for the king size beds, not the 2 in 1 room. I remember when I was here for surgery sopmeone was complaining about her bed and I thought she was just too picky. Well she had the 2 beds in 1 room also and so I think it's just the smaller beds, maybe. I had great shrimp bisque for dinner and this AM had just clear liquids, applejuice, jello and broth. I also have a crashing headache and must sit at the airport until 5:30 for my plane to leave ( OK I am done whining. No ride yet so I'll read a few more posts Thanks to all for the well wishes. I do love this forum for the people!!
