I'm not so sure putting super glue on it is a good idea. The chemicals in it are very different than the "glue" they use at the clinic. It's done now but I wouldn't suggest it to any others who are reading this. If you simply covered the "glue"that's already there it's probably ok. Just wouldn't recommend putting superglue on the skin especially over a fresh incision. What is used at the clinic is a special type of adhesive created for medical use to be compatible with skin, special ingredients that arn't harmful. I would call the clinic to make sure you shouldn't just remove the whole thing now. Not meaning to scare you but it should be checked out by the clinic. Don't over stress because what's done is done, just call the clinic and tell them you did this.

My best bandster tips!!
julieburns replied to MamaMichelle's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Once again thanks Michelle for the great tips. You have been successful so it makes sense to use some of your tips. -
Hey Lynzz what a great milestone!! You did IT!!! Yes the time is going sort of quickly for me. I'll be flying off to have my first fill next week. I am not losing anymore since I started solids and it's sort of depressing but I've also not made the best choices. Anyway this is about you an dYOU DID IT!! WTG girl, Keep it up!!

I think that's a great idea. Too many people are slaves to the scales and it does produce much unneeded anxiety and upset. I have been told to weigh once a week or less, even once a month, to not be such a slave. I've started to do this and each time I've been pleased. Try it!!

What a great idea to add in some extra fun while getting a fill. Seaworld is but a distant memory for me as a child of about 11 when I visited with my family. I still remember Shamu the whale show and getting splashed when he did some tricks. I was so thrilled!! Have fun Erin!!

Glad you got your fill with no problems. Mine's coming up on the 17th. I wish you great restriction that lasts and last and lasts!

Lump in my throat....help please
julieburns replied to C1BandedBabe's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I'm sorry you have this feeling. It seems like you are not alone though. Others posted have had this similiar feeling. I am thankful I didn't. Hope it goes away asap! -
Where do you live? We have a family cabin in Newport and I love to visit the coast. I live in Portland and it's a bit of a drive now so we don't go too often, especially with the price of gas!! Great job on venting here. I urge you to go through with your surgery, it's a wonderful tool to help lose weight for ever as long as you follow the guidlines. You won't be sorry.

Thanks to all who responded to this post. I am having my fill on the 17th at OCC and although I can't wait for some restriction (hopefully) I hate needles and am a huge chicken. Thanks for easing my mind.

JULY SURGERIES AND FILLS
julieburns replied to Dolittle's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Absolutely it's ok to travel alone. I did and many others have that I've read about on this forum. Just pack very very light so you don't have anything too heavy to carry around on your own. You will meet other people being banded the day you get off the plane when you get your ride from the OCC back to the hotel and clinic. At least I did. If not you'll meet people at the clinic are even at the hotel who are patients of Dr. Ortiz's. I felt completely safe and comfortable traveling alone. It was kind of my little get away just for me. My only advice and you'll see others post this is to not go out at night and be sure if you are out in the late afternoon early evening you are in by dark. Best of luck to you and congrats on your great decision. Anymore questions, just ask. -
What do you mean by this? Thanks PS: I've been told It's best to give up the beer, and/or any carbonated beverages for at least 6 months and even longer.

I had a Lemon Drop just yesterday. I am not by any stretch a regular drinker, maybe 3-4 times a year but I tolerated it fine. I know the calories are empty so I've been good all day today.

Dear Dawm: How good of you to be able to honestly post what you went through today. You are in the most difficult time of your life right now and so go easy on yourself. Spend time with your mom as much as you can and just have a small amount of ice cream if you choose to. Don't beat yourself up, you don't need that on top of your stress. I truly care about you from the day I met you I saw a spark in your eye that made me think "What a strong woman"...

Awesome photos. Your kids are darling. Hubby's pretty cute too! Who was that skinny gal next to him?? Thanks for sharing your holiday with us.

trying to put my affairs in order

I hope you are able to find a place close and affordable to you. It is sort of a predicament as to where to go for fills with the price of airfare and gas. I am going to the OCC on 7/17 for my 1st fill. After watching the airfare prices for a few weeks I got a cheap ticket for $260, from my hometown in Portland, OR and actually the cost of staying overnight and the fill ended up being only about $350 more than getting it done here at home. The Dr. here doesn't use fluoro and charges $200 for the first and then $180. I just want to be sure to have it done right so that's why I am going to TJ. Maybe I'll stay home for the next one, we'll see. Anyway good luck on getting everything figured out and if you have any more questions remember to just ask!! We're all here for each other. Happy 4th!! -
Today is independence day and..........

Good for you on treating yourself for changing your lifestyle. yes the band will be a new beginning for you as it was for myself too. I am trying to look at my weight loss in increments of 10# and with each 10 gone I will treat myself in some way as you have done. I hope to not buy too many/any clothes until I am very close to my goal. Congratulations on making this life changing decision, you won't be sorry. Happy 4th!! Just ask if you have any questions you can't find the answer to. One tip I have for you is to not wait until the last 2 weeks to start losing you weight before surgery. It makes it a whole lot easier and less pressure to start sooner. I didn't but wish I did as it was a very stressful time trying to lose in such a hurry. If you havn't already take a look at the posts in the Questions section and there's lots of answers there for pre-bandsters. :lb11: with your pre-op weight loss....Welcome to this forum!! -
Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger Recipe

Sounds delicious..Thanks Cathy -
Take advantage of the full feeling now because it goes away all too soon. I am 1 month out and have no restriction (which is how it starts out until a fill) and when I don't chew my food enough I do feel it passing through my band. It reminds me it's there so that's good.

I loved the Shallow Hal movie. It is hard to change our inner feelings about ourselves that we've had so long, for some of us a lifetime. Enjoy the new you looking back at you!!

Hi Lee and welcome to bandland!!! So sorry to hear you are in so much pain.. Like Caroline said if you can take a walk or just walk around the house. Everyone has their own healing process so I am not sure why your are hurting so much. Take a nice warm bath or shower to help your muscles relax. Sip on that gatorade and water. I hope you feel better soon, :lb4:

:lb9: Dawn: I am not from Kansas but I'm sure someone on the forum is and will be answering your questions specific to Kansas very soon. It's the holiday weekend so it's a little slower on here than usual. Anyway I'm glad you found this forum. I think it's one of the best and sooo informative. The people here come from all areas of the US and Canada and all walks of life. I have been banded 1 month now and will never regret my decision. Take a look at the threads for pre-op patients, the questions section, and also the testimonials to begin with. If you can't find the answer to a question here just ask it and someone will answer it. We are all here for each other and you'll find as much support as you want. Cheers to you for starting the process of a wonderful, yet challenging new journey.

So what are your plans for the 4th of July?
julieburns replied to C1BandedBabe's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Nothing too exciting for me. My husband is working today (we own our own business and it's the busy season). I am at home doing much needed household chores. I'm happy to have today off but work this weekend bright and early at 7 am, no fireworks for me ( -
