  1. What a nice thing to read others banding stories. So sorry for the Diarrhea, hope that stopped. Rest up and you should be able to go back to work on Monday.
  2. What an inspiration. Luke your patients are lucky to have you , and your sister too!!
  3. Once again Jann posts a great one. Thanks!!
  4. Hey Mona Have you ever heard of a LitterMaid? It's a cat litter box that electric)and battery) and it automatically scoops the litter out 10 mins after your cat is out of it. I LOVE mine. Just a thought
  5. Yes your left sided pain is from the port and/or whole band itself. I think you are experiencing fairly similiar feelings as most people have. I was still quite soar a week ago and now at 3.5 weeks am feeling much better. Your right to take it easy still especially if you have discomfort. Just put those feet up and let your body heal. I was rather nicely suprised because it went from fairly tender one day to all of a sudden it's not bad at all. Hope the same for you.
  6. Also read the "getting Started " post by richardsbaby Cathy outlines some great things to help.
  7. Be sure to read the "Lap Band Blueprint posted by Jann. Lots of great info.
  8. Bump Hoping to have people continue on with this list. Come on bandsters I know you're out there and all have tips of your own. Let's make this a nice one-stop spot for pre-opsters to come and get some great tips.
  9. :lb9: Cathy and Jann added some great insights. Look in the questions section and you will find a post for pre-op questions.
  10. :lb10: Carrie and Kim too!!! I just got into the 20's and it felt great. You are both an inspiration for hanging in there and letting the band work for you. Thanks to both of ya for showing perseverance!!
  11. Lisa, thank you so much for your openness and honesty. I almost had gastric bypass 1 year ago just because my insurance would pay for it and not the lapband!! Hadn't found this forum at that time and when I had to quit my job, lost my insurance etc. I thought I'd be fat forever. I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason whether we can figure it out or not they do. Best wishes for a new beginning and do keep us posted.
  12. Tanya :lb24: :lb13: :lb10: What an inspiration for all.
  13. Take a look at the new thread I started yesterday for anyone pre-op, it's in the questions section of the forum. I hope that will give you some good tips. I am hoping more people will add to it so we get a great comprehensive list for anyone pre-op. If you are traveling alone don't take a huge suitcase. There is no reason to take too much. I overpacked and only had a rolling backpack but it was stuffed. Leave yourself room for any little trinkets you can't live without. :lb9:
  14. Wow I didn't realize I would get so many great comments. :-? You are right Yorkiemommy in how you broke it down 2 ways. Yes you ate on the right day being wednesday the 25th. It doesn't matter I guess how you count it just so that you eat on the right day. Love ya both from the nurse :girl_hospital: who knows (just kidding)
  15. To my best interpretation of what the exercise "rules"were after the 3rd week you and do anything except abdominal work. For a water aerobics class you'd just have to not do anything that feels like you are using you abs. Any other thoughts on this anyone?
  16. Yeah how did it end up in recipes, sometimes I think this forum is possessed. Anyway thanks for the answer. Yes the fibromyalgia sucks big time. There is no predictability in it. I hope to God that losing weight will help this. I'll keep you posted.
  17. Thanks Jann for the awesome post. It really opened my eyes (and closed my mouth to chew chew chew!!!)
  18. Thanks folks I figured out what I needed to, just curious.
  19. Erin you've asked a loaded question. Dr. Ortiz specifically said "No Blenders" to many of us. I've also read many posts though where people have used blenders. Dr. Miranda said anything that you could suck through a straw you could have (although they don't recommend using straws. So what is the correct answer.....you'd better ask them for clarification.
  20. Ok so here's one more for the technically challenged such as myself. How do you get the quote button to work to actually highlight and box in what you want to quote from a previous post to your reply. I've tried just clicking on it and this doesn't seem to do much except put a + or - sign in front of the word quote on the button. Help!!!!!!
  21. Hey tired I am not sure what you are asking when you ask "what is up with the fee to pick you up across the boarder and take you to the Dr's office? I also wonder how soon after the first fill the OCC will do another fill. Anyone know?
