  1. YUK!!! I've been cured from the liquid yogurt diet as well. Only 3 days plus today and I get SOLIDS. Yours is soon too isn't it Jann?
  2. julieburns

    OMG I have a blog!

Very cute card, arn't kids always so honest!!
  3. You are so cute and candid with your posts and pics. I am motivated by you always. I want to start more than walking but have 4 more days to go...not counting for the exercise part but you know already for the SOLID foods that come with it!!! Thanks for being you
  4. I started a huge project actually yesterday. Cleaning out my basement aka...The Dark Whole. Since we moved in 1 1/2 year ago I have not unpacked about 100(just guessing) or so boxes of "stuff" I previously had in a storage unit. Yes I know if you havn't used it in a year you should toss it but this stuff is intermixed with stuff from my mom when she passed away. I have to go through everything and sort through it but I do hope to get rid of about 75% of the stuff. I am limited though because of my health issues and actually overdid it yesterday and had to literally spend the day in bed/on the couch today because of it. I need to learn moderation in all aspects of my life and this is a good reminder. I hope to tackle some more tomorrow but NOT overdo it. Realistically it's going to take several weeks of a few hours here and a few hours there. I am so glad I have started it though I already feel better and like it is possible to do. A few boxes at a time just like a few pounds at a time!!
  5. I love these desserts. My problem (prior to banding) is not eating too many of them. Thanks for the great idea for a satisfying sweet thing. I love my sweets and know I cannot succeed without having options like these to satisfy my sweet cravings.
  6. I had asked for help in doing this but actually figured it out myself. One small step for julieburns..... =D>
  7. Erin: Congratulations on now being on the other side. I do like your description and thanks for that nice long post. I like to relive my little trip down there through others who post like you did because it really was a life changing trip. tend to agree with Jann though and it did feel assemble line. I also agree it is a state of the art facility and all the care providers are top notch..no real complaints just not much personal time spent on just me. Which I must remember it's not always just about me but I can only wish. Anyway Erin enjoy you're time there and do go shopping if you feel like it. I didn't and wish I would have now in retrospect. Take care and have a great flight home.
  8. Stay tough Kimmie, and don't beat yourself up too badly. We've all had our weak moments. You have made it this far and will go on!!!
  9. Now that you mention it yes. I didn't have a period for a few months (had been regualr) and then 2 weeks after my surgery TOM cam visiting. I'll have to ask my fellow OB/Gyn folks if there is some relationship I can't think of right now. I'll repost if I find something out.
  10. Hey Cathy Hang in there you can do it. I am feeling exactly the same way. I'd give anything to chew, chew and chew more. I'm not sure what the fix is but if you figure it out let me know. I've got 6 days until solids, Yippee. Let's knock out these last days together. I too promise not to cheat. Although does chip licking count as cheating?????
  11. Yahoo for you...You won't regret I promise you. I went to the OCC by myself from home and NEVER felt unsafe or at all uneasy. I met some wonderful people the morning of my surgery whom I hope to be friends with for a long time to come. There is an instant feeling of bonding with others who "banding" also!!! I am only 15 days post-op so it's still quite new to me. I didn't even stay overnight at the clinic I felt able to go back to the hotel that night. I even changed my plane trip to come home the next day instead of staying 1 more day. I am a very big WIMP when it comes to any sort stuff that might hurt. So to say the least I was pleasantly surprised with my recovery. Welcome to this forum and just read everything you can on it and all your questions will probably be answered, if not just ask. Good luck on your new journey ahead. =D>
  12. =D> Congratulations. Isn't it great when someone like you said notices. I have just lost about 12 since my surgery and I keep waiting for someone to notice. I have lost about 40 since last summer alltogether and I do feel so much better already. Keep up the great work Alana!!
  13. 6 DAYS UNTIL SOLIDS FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am also quite sick of creamy soup and cream of wheat soup. I almost would rather not eat than eat it. I am having some bouts of almost daily BAD, BAD what I am fairly sure is gas pain. OMG it doubles me over. I walk, take tums, beano and walk some more. It's so bad when it happens at work because it does almost incapacitate me. Does that sound normal at this point, I'm at day 15. I didn't think I'd have so much PAIN even if it is gas. Anyway thanks for all the input.
  14. You are so right Alli....you are worth it!! I too had a similar meltdown and am only 2 days ahead of you in being banded. If you look back on the posts you will read the havoc it created on this site so consider yourself lucky no one is being mean and blowing your situation out of proportion!!! You did the right thing by reaching out and although certainly not enabling you we who give you support only want what is best for you. I think a woman who has struggled with weight for any part of their life is so vulnerable and in no way needs negative feedback at any cost. We need to nurture each other and I give you that. Please read and reread the supportive statements posted and throw out anything that doesn't help you. Hang in ther but I know exactly how you feel ...I feel so deprived. Yesterday and last Friday at work they were celebrating a milestone for our department and catered in these beautiful subway 6 foot sandwiches with all the trimmings. I couldn't even go into the breakroom but had to pass through it a few times. It was torture and really made me cranky. I did suck on a pickle and boy did it make me sick!!!I sure won't do that again. Anyway we alll are only human and let's keep the focus and our goals in sight. We CAN DO THIS
  15. I'm glad this topic came up. I havn't been taking any vitamins since my surgery. Prior to surgery I took Juice Plus regularly which is a complete product with organic dehydrated foods full of antioxidants and natural vitamins....17,18 fruits and veggies and berries in each capsule and they're proven by several actual research studies published in medical journals etc...very healthy and organic and real foods instead of simulated vitamins in a lab. Anyway they are capsules and I am scared to restart taking them because of their size. I have been taking my regular pills though and they don't bother me. Maybe I better add this to my list of to do's. I am at day 13 post-op today and the scale is stuck at 10#...agggghhhhh!! ( I seemed to stop losing as soon as I hit the creamy soup/yogurt phase. I am trying not to be too frustrated because I also got my monthly visitor.,...TOM as it's been referred to before in this forum so I should be happy I havn't gained.
  16. Yummy!!!!!!! I can't wait to try this. Thank for the great recipe that seems like such a sinful dessert but is actually not
  17. I'll try to answer your question but I am not a doctor. I am an RN with lots of experience in the OR doing abdominal surgeries (c/sections actually). Any area that you have had surgery in will develop scar tissue and also what's called "adhesions". This is where the tissue actually adheres to the bowel as it heals. Anyway if you were having another cesarean section each one tends to be potentially more tedious because of this scarring. Everyone heals differently though and some people have no problems of any type from previous surgeries. So Erin because of the type of surgery and the area where the incision was is so far below where Dr. Ortiz will be working I think you'll be fine as I reiterate it's almost a totally different area with different areas of the body affected. For you Sandy it depends of what type of abdominal surgeries you've had i.e. what areas of your belly? Where are the incisions and what were they working on or what type of procedure was it? I refer both of you to speak at length with your Doctor's of course but I hope this gives you a little better idea of what's involved. Good luck.
  18. Hey kittycat I love your new ticker and slogan. I'm hopping in that cute little car with you so now you've got company!!! Even if gas prices are sky high we can take turns pushing the car for added workout!!!LOL
  19. I've been trying to think of some type of "exercise" thing that would work for me. I decided the new WII Fit looked like it had enough variety and some friends have it and love it. I actually got mine at Costco for only $80.00 which is about $20 off prices at other places. Anyway my husband set it all up because as you all know , or maybe don't, I am to put it mildly "technically challenged" when it comes to electronic/computer stuff. Since I am only 10 days post-op I knew I shouldn't do much of anything on it but wanted to see how it worked and what the heck it was all about. I happily created my own little WII replica of myself. You get to choose each part of your face etc. to make you're little person you see on the screen who represents you. I checked out the different things one of my favorites is the step program. Again I want to emphasize so as not to start a frenzy that I did nothing physical except pseudo stepping which is like walking which is allowed. Anyway I ended up looking at the Yoga program and thought to myself how great that would be because I am so stiff and out of shape and balance and it's something I've wanted to try for years. Well to make a long story a little shorter I only attempted the first pose called half moon (I think) 1 time each side and was barely able to bend over to my side with my arms all the way up in the air and I was trying to hold it and swaying all over the place and really only held the pose maybe 5-6 seconds while trying to coordinate the breathing. Meanwhile my husband is laughing so loud, rolling on the couch and almost peeing himself and the cat and the dog are trying to join in with me. To finish up here I stopped because I started feeling a muscle spasm in my mid back and it just wouldn't go away. It got worse before it got better. This morning it still hurts and my stomach also hurts more. So here's my lesson that I hope you all just take it from me and don't push your limits....I AM SO OUT OF SHAPE I MUST START WITH NEONATAL(baby still inside) steps. I need to modify this stuff to make it at my speed which is about -8 right now!!! All I can do is learn from this and know that I must be careful. I do want to add that the programs I did see look like alot of fun and I can't wait for my 3 weeks to be up to try out some of the things. It really is a motivator for me right now and maybe anyone reading this will want to try it too!!
  20. What a great idea of putting them in your trunk....unless you sneak out in the middle of the night and have your trunk open and the neighborhood police roll by and ask what your doing in your nightie clothes(which might be not much) lurking around the trunk so no one will see you.....Think about it!!!!
  21. Yippee Yahoo for you!!!!! I'm with you on needing to get more water in. I lost 10#quick the first week or so after surgery and now havn't lost anything for 4-5 days. I know that's not a very long time but when you're only eating full liquids it's actually pissing me off a little. I think I need to make better choices also on what I actually eat. I have been just drinking the Glucerna brand shakes which are really good to me and good for my diabetes but some of my coup choices have been higher in calories. Anyway enough about me and I congratulate you again. Thank for posting so much I always look forward to reading your comments and seeing your beautiful smile. Thank also for that new website. I havn't done one yet because I am computer techie challenged with adding photos and such but maybe someday. I FINALLY was able to get my ticker to post...with a little help (well maybe alot) from my husband. Who knows if I'll ever be able to update it but by golly I have ticker......YEAH!! =D> Once again I think you are an awesome role model and keep up the good work.
  22. I bet you're getting excited. My only suggestion is to maybe start this weekend (only if you can with the holiday and all) either the pre-op diet plus snacks or just cutting down your portions or some sort of start to your pre-op diet. I myself and many others have felt sort of panicked as those few last days go by and so make it a little easier on yourself and start it a few days earlier by just modifying things a little. I'm not going against what Dr. Miranda says to do but I think a few more days of watching what you eat gets you ready for the "biggie" and also on your way a little sooner. And by the way I have been trying and trying and trying for the life of me but can't figure out what your picture you have posted is. 3 little fuzzy somethings but what oh what?
  23. Hey Angela: What is this great tortilla soup recipe? I need some other sort of something to eat!!! Hope you're doing well and say hi to your mom and dad
