How much excess skin do you really have?
readysetgo replied to BrooklynIrish59's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Kevin -- great link.. I've read that article before, and it does make sense to be honest. Unfortunately, I have a friend who had gastric bypass surgery, who weighed 300lbs, after surgery she's down to about 170ish... but she's still the same shape as she was at 300. Just a smaller version of it. She refuses to exercise, and gets frustrated why her body isn't "toning" up as she loses weight. You need to build muscle to work on that form. Thanks again for the link! -
I love the outfit on you soooo much! congrats again, you definitely deserve it

**laugh -- I know what you mean Kim... Or like after you think you did pretty good... it tells you you're a couch potato, and you get 0 points. maybe that's just me! My favs are the balance ones, aerobics too - Do you guys use the male or female trainer?

pb-ing, stands for Productive Burping as lovely as it is. "A commonly reported occurrence for banded patients is regurgitation of non-acidic swallowed food from the upper pouch, commonly known as Productive Burping (PBing).[citation needed] Productive Burping is not to be considered normal. The patient should consider eating less, eating more slowly, or chewing their food more thoroughly. Occasionally, the narrow passage into the larger / lower part of the stomach may become blocked by a large portion of unchewed or unsuitable foodstuff" -- good ol wikipedia...

Hi -- I was curious if anyone had some favorite recipe books featuring healthy recipes or any websites you guys usually use.. For myself, I'm a huge fan of the clean eating cookbook by tosca reno (oxygen mag) oh -- and Cooking Light. I have the book of all the recipes they usually have in their magazine. It comes out in a yearly edition. for websites - I love using http://www.allrecipes.com - because you can type in the ingredients you want to use, and can find recipes from there. Of course, you can then make the healthy substitutions and cross your fingers it still tastes good Also - I love watching the food network, so of course I love their website for recipes. http://www.foodnetwork.com Lastly, I usually browse http://www.epicurious.com They have tons of "different" stuff I get to move to solid foods in 2 days, so I figured I'd start looking up healthy recipes. ps. How does brown rice work with the band? I'm hoping grains are easily broken up. thanks for sharing your suggestions

Yeah -- I ended up paying $120 for the wii fit though ebay, even though normally in the stores it's $89.99. Oh well, I figure the extra $30, includes free shipping - and stops me from obsessing over trying to find it in the stores I'll keep you posted when it comes in, how great it is

Hi Kim! I just got my wii console yesterday! We (me and my bf) love it so far. After 3 weeks of trying to find a Wii Fit in stock at a store, I broke down and payed a little bit extra through ebay. oh well! I've heard so many good things about the wii fit. Plus flan (heidi) loves her wii fit too. It let's you do so much! It's really neat. We played boxing game yesterday against each other, and my arms are sore today. It's great!

How do you tell mental hunger from real hunger?
readysetgo replied to bubs's topic in Diet and Nutrition
Hi Pam! Glad to hear your coping I'm going to start the liquid yogurt tomorrow. Do that 2 days hopefully, and then start the creamy soup stage. I think my mental hunger kicks in sometimes, when I'm cooking dinner for my bf, and im looking through the fridge or the cupboards... and when I get bored, or am trying to procrastinate against doing something I'm supposed to (online course work ) It really was a habit. Watch a movie -- gotta have popcorn... friday night's - go out for dinner... sunday night is usually steak night? I really love to cook, and find it's even hard to do that without "tasting" for proper seasoning. This band is asking for some definite lifestyle adjustments Funny thing is - I don't really have a problem watching the Food Network. (I love that channel) - ps.. My tummy has been making growly noises / gurgling lately too. But, I feed it a popsicle, and it seems happier then. take care, -
thanks for the quick responses, I have never been pregnant, but lately i "feel" like it.. .**laugh... The way I've been lying in bed with pillows as you've described, or the way I hold my tummy when I'm preparing to bend over, the way I get up from the couch, or even the fact that I swear I could have rested my cup of tea on my tummy while watching tv last night - made me laugh so hard! It's like the band is my "new baby" and I'm trying to protect it -- too weird!!! (I don't talk to it yet... so don't call the loony bin quite yet) he he

Hi guys, Seeking your wonderful knowledgeable advice again I had my surgery on the 21st, and I am still wearing comfy clothes (stretchy ones) -- I feel like my tummy is still swollen from the surgery? Is this normal? Maybe it's because of all the extra salt im taking in? Gatorade/ broth / etc... When did your tummy go back down to normal size? Maybe it is normal size, I just have no desire to "suck" my tummy in as I may have done before??? **laugh Thanks in advance,

Finally feel somewhat alive today...
readysetgo replied to readysetgo's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Teri sent me an email the other day, apparently she had to change her flights and such - because she had to go back to the hospital for another day. She was so dehydrated, she couldn't stop vomitting. She told me that the dr's did an immediate unfill? and she has no restriction at all right now. I didn't know we had any fill in us at surgery time? Plus - I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm sooo not hungry. (Just metal hunger comes in once in a while - eg) after making my boyfriend "real popcorn" - it smelt good, but it's funny how easy to imagine my band trying to suck past this one piece of popcorn, and slipping I imagine it like a cartoon less guts and fat **laughing -
Finally feel somewhat alive today...
readysetgo replied to readysetgo's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Thanks Julie, Yeah, the chest pains are slowly dissapearing, but I still have this feeling of a big burp stuck in me. I've been trying to make sure I'm drinking lots, I don't want to risk getting dehydrated. Glad to hear you're doing well - I'm back in town mid August I think (real food time) - we'll have to get together -
((( BIG HUG ))) I'm in the same boat Pam, you're not alone. I've made some homemade chicken stock which seems to be doing well. Gatorade has lost it's appeal too already, but Im still forcing it down. I find slushees and popsicles easy to eat. This is day 3 Pam, we can do it!!! take care,
