It's too early for green bean caserole
jhawkchick75 replied to robbynnoel's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Ohhh green bean casserole how I love thee!! Thankfully nobody made it this year, but there was cheesy potato casserole I had to deal with. Since my unfill I can eat anything and did have a roll but really tried to be good. You know though, I guarantee you all that we all ate wayyy less than we would have before! I know I would eat until I was sick and this year I felt like I ate too much, but when I look back it really wasn't that terrible. We will see on Wed when I weigh in, but I don't think I did too bad. -
I had a lot more pain than others described so I understand what you are going through. LIke others said, a lot of that is gas pain and all you can really do is walk a lot and do the gas x. As far as being shaky I was too. It never totally went away, but drinking special k20 water and gatorade helped quite a bit. I couldn't stomach the chicken and beef broth and what not, so I took regular soup and drained the heck out of it. Tasted soo much better until I could get on regular soups. Once you can get past day 7 it gets a lot better. More food choices and you just start feeling a lot better pain wise. I was also stubborn and didn't call the doctor and just toughed it out (as well as pissed and moaned a lot!! Makes you feel better!!) but if it would make you feel better I say call the doctor so you have some peace of mind. Good luck! Definitely don't overdo it - I did that and I felt it for sure!

My thoughts on too tight bands
jhawkchick75 replied to ValleyGirl's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I had to get an unfill (not totally, but it feels like it) about a month ago due to stress. I go back this week and cannot wait to feel restriction again hopefully! I totally agree with you all on the too tight. Im gonna get a fill again, but I don't think i'll go back to as tight as I was. Most things went down fine, but I honestly don't think I was eating enough and that was why I was not losing much. You know, for me i've never been too tight except for when my brother got in this accident and stress became a factor, so I don't know when you can tell if you are too tight. Once you get a fill, you are swollen a bit so they always tell me if it doesn't feel too tight to give it a day or two on liquids and mushies and then after the swelling is gone if you still are too tight then I say get in ASAP! Being too tight scares the hell out of me and I never want to be there. -

Thanks!!! It already makes me feel a lot better doing it even though it is the holidays and so it's making it really hard to track. Just not sure what everything is made with so it makes it hard. We do a lot more for Thanksgiving than we do Xmas so once I get past this weekend it is all smooth sailing from here!

Got my WW stuff out and am ready to start tracking my pts! Figured it up and I get only about 21-22 - ouch! B: 1 pc of Orowheat double fiber bread w/ ICBINB spray and a handful of Kashi cinna raisin crunch cereal 5pts L: Car Budding ham dipped in miracle whip and chips and salsa 8pts D: Another Thanksgiving dinner: Hummus and pita crackers, cheese cubes, sliced turkey, potato casserole, 1 roll, 1/2 cookie w/ m&m's. NO idea on the points I tried to look things up but i'm just not sure what everything was made with. But wanted to journal anyway! S: Chips and dip & wine Calories so far: 600 Points to far: 13

Ditto I hope everyone had a fantastic day! I ate more than I should, but nothing like I would have years back so i'm really pleased w/ that. I didnt work out this morning like I hoped, but I have a couple days off so I'll get my rear in gear and get to the gym. Felt so good today to be content w/ what I ate, but not have that i'm so full I think I might explode feeling. Didn't need the stretchy pants this year!
-
I'm glad to see us journaling even on Thanksgiving! Mine looks bad, but my portions were small so I don't feel so bad about it. Much better than years past and even though I can eat them now I avoided the rolls - twice! Had two celebrations to go to so that was hard. I hope you all had a fantastic day!!! B: 1/2 slice of Orowheat double fiber bread w/ I can't believe it's not butter spray and low sugar fruit spread. Handfull of Kashi cinna raisin crunch - felt a small amount of restriction I was excited! L: turkey, corn, green beans, deviled eggs, mashed potatoes, stuffing S: two glasses of wine and 1/2 small sugar cookie S: chips and cheese and about 5 lil smokies

Oh yeah normally mine does that same thing too. Can eat the same thing two days in a row and one day fine, next day stuck city! Sadly since I had an unfill i'm back to where I was this time last year - ugh! I can eat literally anything even bread. So i'm trying to be good w/ it and am trying to go high fiber and protein to keep myself full. I got some Orowheat double fiber bread so that for now I can take advantage of having bread again but also keeping it healthy and getting the much needed fiber. I'm having some issues in the bathroom dept so hopefully that will help. I'm gonna get up in the morning and get a good workout in before heading to two holiday gatherings. My family tries to be good, but their idea of vegetables is corn so i'm gonna have to just try to portion it out and count my calories and be done. I'll have my niece w/ me so alcohol is out which is good too. I can get a fill on the 2nd, but they warned me that can't put it all back in at once, so I still won't be where I was, but hopefully it will at least help. I can eat anything right now and don't like that feeling. My weakness is bread so I don't need to be taking advantage of that! Have a good turkey day!

Thanks so much! I've done WW several times in the past and it has always done me well so I am confident this will get me going again. I'm so glad you post your journal and points on here i'm always looking for new ideas! My cousin is at goal and works the front desk and confirmed for me that the slide tracker I have is up to date, but that my books might not be so i'll just rely on the tracker I don't mind it's easier than carting around all the stuff. I still have a lot of my "regular" foods memorized anyway. I'll start posting mine too on Fri! Yea!

I agree it is so great that you came in here. Best first step you can take!!!! Don't beat yourself up - if it were that easy we wouldn't need the band and even it isn't a fix all. Keep coming in here and just get back to basics and you will get back on track. Due to a lot of stressful things going on w/ me I had to get a partial unfill and it is really kicking my butt! I am a stress eater and the stress is still there, so my eating has not been good. I'm just taking it one day at a time and trying not to get down as that will cause me to eat even more. I'm also hitting the 5 day pouch test on Friday to try to get my rear in gear. Can't get a fill until the 1st week of Dec and even that won't put me back up to where I was so I need to deal for at least two months. Keep your chin up!

Finally beat the plateau!
jhawkchick75 replied to LisaLaw's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
So very true! We all lose at different rates and that does not mean we are failing. I lost maybe 10 lbs from May until now, but I've been still working hard and working out and I don't feel bad about it at all. You cannot compare yourself to others and must be proud of your accomplishments. I say take it 1,5, 10 lbs at a time whatever works for you and appreciate all you have accomplished. Enjoy all of it!! -
where to get previous Biggest Loser seasons
jhawkchick75 replied to ValleyGirl's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hmmmm not sure. Have you looked on NBC.com? On there they have past episodes, but I don't know how far they go back. -
Welcome and congrats on taking this next step! You won't regret it for one minute!!!!! The best advice I can give you is to read as much on this board as you can. I literally spent hours and days just reading back months of old posts. It helped me sooo much and made me feel comfortable and ready to rock once it was time. Good luck and can't wait to see your progress!!!

An Update on ME...
jhawkchick75 replied to MamaMichelle's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hey Michelle...so glad you are back!!!!!!!! There are a few of you that have been gone for a while that I wondered where you all were and how you were doing!!! Sounds like things are going great for you!!!!! I've been slacking on my working out and really need to get my rear in gear. As I get close to my goal I think that is what it's gonna take now is to get some of that loose skin tightened up as much as I can. -
I can totally relate! I did Weight Watchers ohhh...about 6 times! And every time for some reason i'd hit about 20 lbs lost and would quit. I never knew why but now after some soul searching I really think it was because that was about the time folks would start to notice. I've never done well with compliments or attention from men, so that also contributed to it. Now, this time around I did it a lot more for health reasons. Before I wasn't as heavy and was younger so I didn't really think about the health aspects of it, just the looks. So for me I have a little different focus this time. I still don't do well at all with the compliments but i'm working on that. For me, my issue now is I have this fear that it is all a big dream and that i'm gonna wake up one morning right back where I was. I know that sounds stupid, but that is what I do. I had to get a partial unfill recently and so I can eat really anything I want which really scares me. Can't wait to get some of my fill back! Just taking it a day at a time. Good luck and always know you can post whatever in here!!!
-
Thanks Anne! And BogiesMom, you are right - can't hurt to do both! I always had good luck w/ WW but it was always short term. Hopefully it can get me by until I get my fills back.
-
Welp, gained back the lb I lost last week - ugh! Can't get a fill until after Thanksgiving so just trying my best. Hoping I can not gain too much - just taking it one day at a time.
