Very true! I need to milk it for all it's worth and ask my brother to do more. I just keep staring at my hardwood floors where the dog prints are on them and it's driving me nuts! I got some leaves that were along the path in a pile so i'll ask him to bag them up. I started to feel it so I quit and it freaked me out a bit. I could really care less about how the back looks, but they were really piling up along the front walk. But no amount of leaves are worth messing this up!!!

Dr. Ortiz wasn't exaggerating.

Don't even worry that is normal. My first week I dropped a lot and then 2nd week nothing. Your body gets freaked out and holds on to everything I think. Doing the same to me right now on solids, so i'm not freaking. I know it will start to even out. Just give it time and stick to the plan - you are doing it right! You are putting your body into shock of sorts and it needs time to deal. -
What a fantastic accomplishment!! You definitely deserve those boots! Enjoy!!

OK, so last night I bought my 3rd pedometer in about a week and a half! This time, I bought a 1 year warranty on this bad boy! So i'm in starting in the morning. I don't walk much at work, so this week my goal is to get on the treadmill 3-4 times this week. I have to work late both Tues and Wed night, but all the other nights i'm going to gets some walking in. Hope everyone had a great weekend!!!

I have a similar question (sort of) so i'll just post it in here. I know it says no lifting anything over 10lbs for 6 weeks, but what about other activities? Specifically cleaning (pushing a mop and broom), yardwork, etc...I own a home and I live alone basically - my brother lives here but we will just say I do most everything around here. I've been staring at my floors and yard all day and they are driving me nuts! I started to rake today but got freaked out and quit. Was scared i'd do something. What is OK?

Exactly what happened to me. Lost quite a bit week one and then nothing week 2. Don't worry, it will kick up again for week three and then once you go on solids it will stop again. Nice to look forward to huh!

Sounds like you are all set! I didn't use my laptop at OCC, but did at Lucerna b/c they had wireless and I could just relax in bed and use it. To be real honest, I took some bullion and other stuff, but I never used it. I used my protein water, but I bought broth and jello in the restaurant so now I have a brand new can of bullion in my cabinet that will probably never get used. Good luck! Have a blast on your vacation and let us know when you are out of surgery!! -
Oh thank goodness!!! I had a glass of wine last night so that freaked me out! I'm going to be seriously limiting my drinking since it's empty calories, but last night it was for business and I got asked to go so I figured I would have one.

In Tijuana -Surgery tomorrow

Yea! Glad you made it through! Man, it feels like it was just yesterday that I was there but it was over 3 weeks ago! How are you feeling now? Good I hope - hope the sick feelings are gone. The gas issues are still there for me. Had a nasty gas bubble in my shoulder today during an all day work meeting...man it hurt! But every day you feel better and better. So just remember that. Congrats!! -
They have previous episodes on their website, but when I looked the other day they were only up to three days prior, but it might be up now. I agree Dr. Stork was a jerk, but I guess one of them does need to play devil's advocate to some point. But it's obvious that he has never had a weight problem and/or has no kids. I see the things overweight kids go through in their lives and how it impacts them down the road for life and if my kids had that issue I would get them lapband in a heartbeat!!! But I agree Dr. O did a great job explaining and I was glad the other doctors were siding with him. Check The Doctors website...should be posted soon.

I thought wine was OK? Is that right? I was never a pop drinker, so that really doesn't bother me, but I do miss beer. But it's not that big of a deal. I'm surviving fine. I'd really start laying off it now so it isn't as miserable when you do.

New here and... why no pre-op forum?
jhawkchick75 replied to Amanda2008's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Welcome and congrats! I hope you are doing OK on pre-op. Just stick to the plan Dr. Miranda gave you and i'm sure you will do fine. But you can always call her and ask if you don't feel you are losing enough. Also, remember to drink lots of water, that will help you out as well. Always have a drink next to you and drink as much as you can. I'm doing it as we speak! Please feel free to post and all the folks in here are very helpful. Good luck!! -
Sooo....I booked my surgery!!

Congrats! What a great way to start the new year! Just think where you will be come summer time! -
I was at a dinner meeting tonight and my only option was pizza. I had one slice and it took me almost 45 minutes to eat because I took tiny bites and chewed really good. Really trying to get in the habit now. I do have a question though...how do you know if you are full? It's such a different feeling than what full used to be. I think I am full - does that mean having a tightness in your chest? I think i'm full, but I also don't want to be hungry two hours later. I really don't want to be eating all the time b/c I know that isn't the way we should do it. Just three major meals and a snack if needed. I know it is probably different for everyone, but please let me know how you all tell you are full.

I thought I couldn't eat solids until tomorrow so I just had soup for lunch. However I was really scared to have my first meal be breakfast then come to work in case I got sick or something, so tonight i'm going to eat something small and mushy for dinner. I'm thinking some raviolis....not the healthiest, but soft and easy. Then i'm going to have egg beaters and a piece of canadian bacon for breakast tomorrow morning - not sure what lunch will be yet. Most likely lunchmeat and some fruit and veggies.

Sadly I did not get them signed. When I first met Dr. O I already had them on so I figured signing would be slightly inappropriate and then I didn't get to see him post op because he had to leave to tape The Doctors show. I heard a lot of people say they kept theirs so I brought mine home with me, but who knows what the heck I will do with them now.

OK apparently God doesn't want me to have a pedometer! So mine was working great last night. When I went to bed I had racked up almost 9,000 steps and that was with sitting behind my desk most of the day. Then, this morning I woke up and it won't work! I have the manual at home so i'll try to bring it to work with me tomorrow and figure it all out. Damnit, i'm gonna be in this challenge!
-
Me too!!!! I can't tell you how excited I am to chew!!!! But I am kind of scared too - really don't want to overdo it and I know this means my weight loss is going to come to a screaming halt for a while. I hit 20lbs lost this morning which I am very excited about!!! 6 of that was pre-op and 14 post. I don't see a difference in my body, but the scale has definitely gone down and the clothes don't fit, so something is working! I'll have to get some pics out and look. I went to a concert last night and we have pics so i'll have to compare. Yea us for solids!!!!!!

Have to tell you the funniest story! So, I have this shoulder bag I use for work and I took it with me to TJ and had my laptop, paperwork etc...in it. So once I got back I brought the bag to work to start using it again. Today I was in a meeting and I needed a pen so I got in the front pocket to get one and instead guess what I found....my paper panties!!!! I put them in there to bring home and forgot they were in there! Thank god nobody saw them, I would have been mortified!!!! So tonight I need to take them home. Might shove them in my purse and hope to god I don't forget them in there!!! Just had to share - hope you all are having a great day!!!
