Don't stress about the # on the scale
jhawkchick75 replied to jhawkchick75's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Thanks everyone! It was funny the other day my grandma asked me how much I weigh and when I told her she said there is no way you weigh that much! Guess also depending on muscle mass and things like that the # on the scale can be very deceiving. I need a few new work outfits so i'm headed to the mall to get a couple of things. It is really nice to have options now and not see shopping as a miserable experience. I used to get frustrated and just buy shoes and accessories - but I had quite a shoe collection! -
just started solic food

Ditto to all! You might be one of the lucky ones that has restriction wit no fills. After I went on solids I could eat anything and just as much as before and it took me 3 fills before I really felt restriction. Just make sure you are chewing really really well and taking small bites. When I pb I do a protein shake or soup for the next meal and then take it easy for another day or so. It is definitely an adjustment but my guess is your band is just fine. You have just lucked out and have good restriction right away. Quite jealous! -
Ohhh I remember that soo well!!! I was never a big soup person before but man was I then!!! I just wish I would have mixed it up and tried making more soups instead of relying on canned stuff. Get in the recipe section here and experiment a bit. Good luck!

Tomorrow is my first Band Anniversary

Happy Bandiversary!!!! You have done a great job and I can't wait to see what the next year brings!!!!! -
Congrats and good luck tomorrow - i'm sure you will do great!! For me the pre op diet was much harder than the post op. The first week I wasn't hungry at all and then the 2nd week was truly boredom I didn't do a good job of mixing it up. The worst was the last two days but that was all head hunger and again the boredom. Just remember why you are doing this and if I can do it anyone can. Good luck!!!

So I learned a VERY important lesson today and wanted to share. I know it's not good to do, but I am on my scale every day and i've been getting frustrated lately because the scale never moves. Hasn't in months. It's funny because people keep saying i'm losing weight but I just chock it up to them being nice. Anyhoo, we were out the other night and my cousin was getting on to me saying that my pants don't fit and that I need new ones but since the scale hasn't moved I figured there was no way I was needing a smaller size. She is losing weight and is smaller than me so she brought me her old jeans which are a size 6 and told me I should try them on. They just sat there for a while because I thought she was nuts but I just put them on and they FIT!!! I can't believe i'm in a size 6 i'm not sure I ever have been. It's a really great feeling and makes me not stress so much about the number on the scale. This is a great lesson for us all. Don't stress so much about that # on the scale and enjoy those non scale victories! I will still get on the scale, but i'm going to use how my clothes fit more as a guide. I'm just gonna keep on keepin on and try to make good decisions each day and work out as much as I can. Hope you all are having a great day!! Shelby

I would also take a heating pad if you have one and I also took my laptop. Very few English speaking stations there and the laptop saved my life! I had a little more pain that others so I wasn't feeling like going shopping and stuff so I stayed around the hotel for the most part. We tried going shopping but i was too painful for me and I got really annoyed with the pushy vendors! Gook luck!!! I agree pack light and very loose comfy clothes. I took my make up (no idea why) but you soo don't need it just take the bare minimum.

Sorry to hear about your accident! I know how stress can really mess us up! Congrats on your bandiversary!! You have done such a rock star job i'm so happy for you! I am hoping to be at goal by my 2 year anniversary. This last 10lbs has just been a real B. Keep up the great work!!! -
That is definitely where the majority of my pain was in the port. Even now after all this time if I do too much it can get sore. Also, as you lose the weight you can feel it more. For instance if I am cleaning the bathtub it really hurts to lean over the tub b/c the fat there is gone and so it pushes down on it. Guess a good reminder that it is there!

That is awesome!!! I love hitting those goals you will be there in no time!!!

For sure! It's all stuff I know I should do I just haven't. I'm gonna stick to it as much as I can. I work 2 jobs so always eating fresh stuff gets tricky, but i'm gonna try to do it as much as I can. I also have continued to reduce my dairy intake hoping that will help. Gonna get this last 10 off!!!

Just stopped in to say Hello
jhawkchick75 replied to MyNewLife's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
After lent I went back to having dairy, but I have about 75% of what I did. I try to limit it when I can, but let myself have some now and again. It hasn't been nearly as hard as I thought it would be, but that is also because I tell myself that I can have it when I want it and so then I don't want it as much. Play mental games w/ myself. This past week I did a detox of all fresh fruits and veggies and lean meats and fish. It went really well lost 4 lbs and so I am going to try to do that as much as I can. Lay off the processed foods and stick to fresh. It's just hard b/c I work 2 jobs and so the other stuff is just so much easier, but i'm gonna try my best. This last 10lbs is really kicking my butt but i'm determined to get it off! -
B: Eggs and hash browns - got very few bites in i'm tight this morning S: Pretzels and peanut butter L: Chicken, potatoes and mac & cheese - wasn't able to finish I think this detox tightened me up but i'm not complaining! D: Chips and dip and two cocktails Calories so far: 1,000

What I have learned since being banded...
jhawkchick75 replied to skinnyagain's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
All awesome!! Another one for ya - don't get attached to a pair of pants. It won't be long until they don't fit anymore! I only buy stuff at like TJ Max and places where I can get it cheap b/c they don't last long! I'll only lose 1 more size if that so now I can go back to my other stores, but before it was getting too expensive!
