  1. Hi there! I rode with you all back in the van to the airport to go home. Glad you are joining the challenge!! =D>
  2. So, first snaffoo with my pedometer. So I followed the instructions and set it, but I must have set it wrong. It says at midnight it resets, but mine reset at noon! ARGH! That is OK, it tracks your steps for a week, so I can look at "yesterday" AKA before noon today and figure it out. I'll play with it tonight and figure out how to reset it. But I have it on!!
  3. I was banded on the 23rd and he told me about it when he came in to do my little pre-surgery talk. I have my DVR set too so I don't miss it. Exciting!
  4. That is so fantastic! I can see where your relatives would not recognize you!! Great job!!
  5. Keep in mind you are bloated and swollen from surgery. Once that goes away and you are healed you will be albe to have a much better read on your weight. 5 days post op it was saying I had gained 5 lbs so don't worry! I'm weighing in once a week to keep track, but right now i'm not going to stress too much until i'm on solids. Good luck!
  6. I bought liquid Centrum...doesn't taste the best, but isn't terrible either. I'd like to get some additional stuff in to so any ideas are appreciated. I used to take a women's mutivitamin as well as additional vitamin C and a suppliment that I got at a health food store that had some additional nutrients in it. Anything to ensure i'm keeping my nutrients up!
  7. Quick question for you all. Did you all have a plateau week 2 of post op? I lost 10lbs the first week on clear liquids, but this week I stayed exactly the same - go gain and no loss. I hope I am doing everything right - I am eating everything they tell us to. I had one scoop of ice cream but that is really the only fattening thing I ate. My guess is it is b/c my body is in shock from that first week weight loss. What do you all think? I'm just really worried about the weight loss picking back up. I know we aren't supposed to be worried about weight loss during this stage, but come on...we all do! Advice??
  8. You know, I was a nervous wreck until I arrived in TJ then all of the sudden this wave came over me and I was ready to go! I think a lot of it is because I had done so much research and talking in here. I think it was more the anticipation of the event and when it actually arrived I was ready. You know, i've been on so many diets. My mom took me to a nutritionist in like 5th grade and i've been off and on since. AFter a while, I think as I started each one I had such a self-destructive attitude and sabatoged it from the get go. I had failed so many times I just didn't see how another one could work. But this time just feels so different and i'm taking a very different attitude about it. I see so many people in here being successful and it shows me it can be done. I'm not gonna lie...I have about the same willpower as my goofy dog KC who took my brother's dinner off his plate right in front of him tonight! But I know most of it is willpower and attitude so i'm working really hard on that. I am visualizing myself 6 months from now and where I could be and also telling myself that I DESERVE it, which I haven't done a good job of doing in the past. Hope this helps! As you get closer to your date you will get even more nervous, but use this group!
  9. OK I got my pedometer tonight! had to go to two different places and unfortunately they only had two options but I think the one I got will be good. I'll get it out of the box and check it out tonight. I'll start the challenge tomorrow! I'll be interested to see how many steps I normally take in a day. I'm excited!!!
  10. Hi there! I'm on day 12 right now. I'm not gonna lie, it's been tough but I agree with what everyone else has said. I just think of if I were just to eat one bite and cause my band to slip and it's just not worth the risk! Weekends are tough for me b/c i'm just relaxing at home, but while i'm busy at work it takes my mind off it. Although today in a meeting I was in they had a cheese and cracker tray and I was drooling! But the scale has been going down so that is a good motivator. In the first week I lost 10 lbs! This week I stayed the same, but I think that is because my body is getting used to that large weight loss from last week so I think it will kick back up again this week. Kind of like on the Biggest Loser when none of them lose any weight on week 2. You just need to search around and find some foods that you like. Towards the end of the first 7 days the smell of broth made me gag - so I took regular soups and strained everything out. I also did the drinkable yogurt and still do. I don't totally like it, but it's not bad. I do those for breakfast. I think the key is mixing it up and making sure you don't get bored. That got tough towards the end of the first 7 days, but now being on phase 2 it isn't as bad. Still tough, but I know I can do it!!!! Good luck and know we are here to help!!
  11. Welcome to the group and I am so sorry to hear about your situation! If they get your money back then you are good to go because you will get nothing but first class treatment at OCC. And of course we are all here to answer any questions you have. Good luck and keep us up to date on what you find out!!
  12. What an accomplishment you look fantastic!! Congrats!!
  13. Woo Hooo congrats!!! What a great feeling!!! No NSV's for me yet - well I guess the swelling is going down from the surgery does that count! But I was proud of myself I went through all my pants yesterday and put them in the closet in order of size. This way, as I move along in this journey i'm ready to move down the rack just like at the store. It's sad but also a good thing - because of all the times i've gained and lost I have the next three sizes down already in my closet so I won't have to buy as many work pants!
  14. I almost got my picture taken on that exact one!!!
  15. Let me know if your breath situation changes. I sure hope so - i'm single and I don't need that against me! Some good news though, I just realized today that I am halfway through my post-op diet! I am on day 11...only 10 more to go! I was getting a little crabby and thinking it would never end, but that made me hopeful for an end! I treated myself to a bit of ice cream today to celebrate. Not going to make it a regular thing, but you need to splurge a little bit every now and again.
  16. Agreed...a lot of people might not be on here much considering it was Halloween and on Sundays it seems a bit quieter in here. I'll try to walk as much as I can at work, but unfortunately most days I don't get a lunch break and just eat at my desk while working. But once i'm feeling a bit better (port is still really sore) i'm going to get on my treadmill and start walking. It has a TV right in front of it so I have no excuse. I can watch my TV shows and walk. Although I have to be careful, watching sports and walking on a treadmill has almost caused me to fall off my treadmill a couple times!
  17. Same here...I would love to go back to TJ, but it's just too expensive from here. There is a place only about 20 min from my house i'll be going to and he is well known in the area. It makes me feel safe in case it was over-filled or something. But I think each person needs to make the decision for themselves. Good luck!!
  18. Same here on the breath! It is driving me nuts! What is that about! I bought a bag of mints at the grocery store last night b/c i've blown through all the ones I had in my purse. Does that go away hopefully?
  19. Thanks! She was too funny...on the way home she asked me if she did good!
  20. Fantastic! There is a Walgreens on my way home from work so i'll see what they have. They should have a decent selection. I also have a desk job and don't move around a lot except going to meetings, but once i'm feeling better i'm going to take the boxes of my treadmill and start using it!
  21. Glad you decided to join the group! Welcome to the group!
  22. I didn't dress up, but here is my cutie patootie niece in her penguin costume. Hopefully this works i've never posted pics in here before. I'll also post a link to a video. You can't see her very well, but I had to post it so you can hear what she says. To make a long story short, we decided to take her back to the neighborhood where we grew up so we could let our old neighbors see her. This video is actually at our old place. She must have known that and felt comfortable b/c she asked if she could come in! http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d59/shel...nt=MOV01159.flv
  23. Hi there!!!!! Hope you are surviving the post op OK. I've lost about the same you have and it sure feels great! I know totally what you are saying about shoulder pain. I didn't get it until this last week, but I was in a meeting and I kept trying to move my arm around hoping it would help - I got a couple weird looks on that one!
  24. That is absolutely fantastic you should be so proud of your accomplishments! And yes...pictures pictures pictures!!!!
  25. Welcome to the group! If you can get your hubby to go to your consult I think he will be much more comfortable with it. As has been said, the place is top notch as well as Dr. Ortiz. Plus, I can see him being very convincing! Good luck!! Let us know how it goes!!
