I've been wondering where you have been....glad to have you back! Sounds like things are going great!

Completely agree with Julie. Obviously there are some real insecurities on their parts if they are going to act like that. I would only be interacting with them when you have to for work and beyond that forget it! I don't have time or energy for people like that in my life. As hard as we try to be nice to others sometimes they just don't reciprocate and that is their loss because we are cool ass people! I know it is easier said than done, but don't let her get to you. Keep your chin up! Shelby

Wow! What a fantastic accomplishment! That is so amazing and ditto to what others said definitely be sure and put up some progress pics! Congrats and I hope your mom has a speedy recovery! Shelby

I am so glad to hear that your experience went so well! Congrats and I can't wait to hear about your progress!!! Shelby -
Sounds like you have made the best decision for yourself and that is fantastic! As long as you and your ex have a good relationship around the kids then everything will be fine. My parents always talked so badly about each other in front of me and it had a major impact on me. They wonder why i'm still single now! My brother lives with me and his daughter is here part time and I always tell him no matter what have a good relationship with her mother because the only person it hurts is that little girl. So i'm glad to hear this has strengthened the relationship b/t you and him as well as the kids. I hope you are able to take good care of yourself and focus on what is best for you. Best of luck and I hope this transition can go smoothly (or as smoothly as expected i'd say). Anytime you need to vent we are all here!!!! Shelby

OCTOBER SURGERIES AND FILLS

Our flight gets in at 6:15 on Wednesday night we are flying American. My mom and I are staying at another hotel Wed night and then heading over to the Lucerna for the rest. We go back on Sunday morning. That would be fine with me if they ask me to go ahead and have surgery on Thursday. That would be one more day i'm there after surgery which makes me feel better since when I go home i'm basically on my own. I can't wait! I still can't believe it is almost here! I feel like i've been waiting forever! -
Ditto! Good for you to be able to keep your weight loss up during all that! That is so wonderful of you to take her in. That is a big responsibility but it sounds like it is going well. Congrats on your success! I hope to have the same results! Shelby

Yea! I just did the same last night so I totally know how you are feeling! Congrats and good luck! =D>

Thanks everyone! It is gonna be tough, but I am soooo excited! It feels like forever ago that I made the decision to do it. Because of work this was th earliest I could do it, but I made the decision in June. Since i've watched people come and go before me and been a bit jealous, but my time will come! Yea! =D> I think my mom is more excited than me, but that is because she gets a vacation out of it. But she is really excited for me too. And I am cracking up jodbug65!!! Yes we are gonna be so hot!!! It's like Mary Murphy says on "So You Think You Can Dance"...we are getting tickets for the Hot Tamale Train!!!!! Although I must say I did get hit on at the gas station this morning, but I wouldn't consider him marriage material. Anyone who whistles and yells "someones lookn' sexy today" at you at the Shell station isn't quite what I see in a future husband!!! Thanks again everyone!!! Have a fantastic weekend!!! Shelby -
Help! Contemplating The Band...

Best of luck on your trip I hope all goes well!! I can't wait to hear all about it!!!! Good Luck!!!!! Shelby -
So a real moment for me...I just paid for my procedure! It's exciting, but it is really sinking in now. This is the best decision i've ever made and i'm super excited, but i'm also very aware of how hard it is going to be. I know this may sound corny, but I feel like I am losing a major part of myself. Food is such a major part of my life - sometimes as soon as I am done eating I start thinking about what i'm going to eat next - it's such a part of me and is what I think about probably 75 percent of my day. But seeing everyone on here and your success makes me so excited for the future. Thank you all soooo much for that I can't tell you how important that is!! Pre-op is gonna be tough b/c for 5 days of it I am at a conference with 13 students who don't know what is going on and won't understand why i'm drinking shakes. I'm excited, but WOW that was a large amount to drop! Didn't even put that big of a down payment on my house! Looking forward to the "other side"! I leave for San Diego in 20 days!!!!

What a great milestone! That is so fantastic to be under 100 to go! Congrats!!!!!! -
ARGH!!!! I am so sorry you are suffering like that!!!! My mom has fibromyalgia (sp?) and all kinds of other health problems and is in constant pain and I just can't imagine that. I hope you are able to get some relief. One thing I have learned is that you have to be really firm with doctors and if they can't help you don't feel bad about finding another one. I say that, but i'm not gonna lie i'm not the best at taking my own advice! Take care and I sincerely hope you get to feeling better soon! Happy thoughts from down the road! Shelby

I haven't been banded yet, but I already just on pre-op have noticed how much money I am saving! I was eating out usually 1-2 times a day. The other day I was worried I hadn't paid a bill b/c I felt like I had too much money in my account so I looked and it was because of the not eating out every day. I was spending around $300/month and that is just when I used my debit card - no idea how much more if you count up when I used cash! I am single too and so I always ate out b/c of convenience - was always silly to make all that food it would go bad before I ate it. But doing the pre-op with lean cuizines has helped a lot. I agree i'm excited to use the extra cash on cute new clothes! Healthier foods definitely cost more, but in the end it will really be cheaper for me.

CONGRATS!!!! I hope everything went smoothly!!!!!

OCTOBER SURGERIES AND FILLS
jhawkchick75 replied to Dolittle's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I'm having my surgery that day....yea!!! I'll see you all then!!!! We are heading down Wed and staying at another hotel for a day first and then coming back home on Sunday. I say it's never too early to start. I have to lose around 10 lbs before so I have been doing shakes for breakfast and lunch already. I only lost three so far, but I had a bit of a setback on my birthday weekend! But i'm back on track now. I'm going full on the pre op diet on the 10th. I just emailed Dr. Miranda today to see exactly what I need to be doing. I can't believe it is finally here - OUR month! It will be here before we know it!!!!! Shelby -
That is such an amazing accomplishment congrats!!!! You all are such inspirations I agree I wish I had my band yesterday! I am now countdown minus one month. About 25 days to go!!! Thanks for sharing your good news!!!
-
I'm so sorry i'm not banded yet either so i'm not much help. But I know that when I was on WW and I wasn't losing the first thing they asked is if I was getting my water in. I never had this issue, but many people who were having trouble losing also found they weren't eating all their points. So I would make sure and check and make sure you are eating enough. I'm not sure what the magic number is, but I would think like 1,000 would be good. Also, mix up how many calories you eat each day - eat a bit more on some days and less on another, but do it where over the course of a week you eat the right amount. Good luck and I hope you can break the plateau!!!!

51 POUNDS GONE FOR GOOD!!
jhawkchick75 replied to Kittycat's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Wow...I go out of town for 4 days and there is so much going on! I hate missing out! Congrats on your success...50 lbs that is HUGE and you should be sooo proud!!! I hope you did something fantastic to treat yourself. I'd have to use that as a prime time for a massage or something!!! Congrats again!!! Shelby -
I was approved through some medical loan places too and the interest rates were insane! When my dad heard those he luckily offered to take some money out and i am paying him back interest free. It was funny though, I called the medical loan folks and told them I wouldn't need it after I was approved. Then, like 3 weeks later they tried to come back around and tell me I was now denied! What!? I was so confused it was like hey buddy....I rejected YOU!!! I'm glad to hear it is all going to work out. Funny, fate has it's way of doing that it always works out as it should.

Oh I get all teared up too! I was in the grocery store one day and they were playing that theme song over the intercom. I'd love to see if I could find it and put it on my MP3 player. When I can work out again that song would be good motivation! I was so proud of the yellow team last night when she had to do the hill challenge all by herself...she lasted a LONG time! I like them, but I was suprised when they went for the money and they are really lucky they didn't get booted. And it was really nice for them to give a phone call to the family with the autistic child. He was so cute with his Charlie Brown thing. As far as replays go, sometimes the TV stations have it where you can watch old episodes online not sure if they do (NBC I think it is?) but it is worth checking their website. Sadly, I used to watch this show and stuff my face - this time it will be very different! I'm always amazed at how much they lose, but then remind myself that all they are doing all day is working out. No TV, no computers and most important no distractions! But it is still an amazing amount in a week!
