Speaking of technical support, is anyone a pro with tickers?? I am trying to update my ticker and it keeps giving me the following error message: Sorry, dynamic pages in the tags are not allowed Anyone know what I am doing wrong? I have a ticker on there now and i'm basically trying just to replace it with the new updated info. Thanks in advance for your help! Shelby -
That is so fantastic! When you can actually see the changes on yourself that is when you know you are really making progress! Congrats!!!!!!

Yeah, i've been doing the same thing but i've been telling myself not to go nuts on it. I have to lose a certain amount before I go so I don't want to put more work on myself. So i've been hitting my favorite places, but trying not to eat everything in site! I haven't been on here for too terribly long, but you figure it out eventually. Everyone on here is great and is a big help. I had some fears before but now i'm just ready to go!!!! -

I'm learning all the lingo, but not looking forward to experiencing it! The thought of PB'ing makes me gag already!! But it will be so worth it! The only thing I have to figure out is I am in one of my best friends weddings in May and so I am worried about how to tackle the dress fittings and what not. Hopefully i'll really be dropping weight by that time. But I guess that it is a good problem to have huh! I see a lot of people have nicknames depending on what month they were banded in. We need a clever name! If you have any ideas let me know and i'll try to get creative too. Can't wait!!! Shelby

Yea you are the same day as me!! I've told very few people as well. I have 3 other people I am definitely telling (have only told one friend and the parents so far) but there just hasn't been a good moment to bring it up yet. But I have time. I'm excited to hear about all the October folks! It is gonna be tough navigating through the holidays, but I know we can do it! Welcome to the group!!!! You will get a lot of great ideas/advice here. I don't travel until the 23rd and surgery on the 24th, but like you said it will be here before we know it! I'm working on the weight I need to lose before surgery now and it actually hasn't been as hard as I thought it would. Had to go out of town today and I took my protein water and a shake with me and it wasn't bad at all. Have a great weekend! Shelby

3 Months Post Op (Well almost)

What a difference!!! Thanks so much for sharing and great job!!! -
Oh I would lose it with a cheese store right by me! Maybe I can do a little laughing cow cheese here and there but keep it really small. That will take a lot of willpower on my end though. Phoenix that is a riot! That is how my niece is but with french fries and chicken mcnuggets! That is all she wants but I only take her now and then - she's got some of my genes (looks just like me) so she doesn't need to get in those habits.
-
What a great milestone....congrats!!!! Your hard work is showing!!!

Awww....I might have to have a memorial service or something for losing my friend cheese, but i will do it! I had a former student that used to call me cheese b/c she thought I ate it so much! When I do my last hoorah at my favorite mexican place i'll just go all out on the cheese and call that the end. Thanks!

It is sad how many of us have the same situation. My uncle took his life this winter. We know he was struggling with depression and things for years, but we actually thought he was in a good place at the time so it is very hard. So I understand and my thoughts are with you! And congrats on the dress! Awesome!

Great job! And I love when you all post pics...it shows me that this is possible. Just wish my date was here like yesterday! Congrats on your success!

They didn't tell me any in particular shakes to drink, but I did try to find one that had less carbs, but the one that had the least carbs I heard just weren't even drinkable (optifast). I know a lot of folks have done slimfast which has more sugar and carbs than the Atkins ones so I didn't know what their experience has been. I'll see what the results are on Monday, but I want to make sure i'm doing this right.
-
Yeah, I guess that is where my concern is. All these protein drinks seem to have a lot of carbs in them! And when that is all you have for breakfast and lunch then the large part of your food each day comes from carbs. I'm not going to weigh myself until Monday, but it just doesn't seem like I will lose a lot this way. But i'm going to give it a shot. Suprisingly the shakes haven't been too bad! Although sometimes my brain function doesn't seem to be where it should. But the protein water seems to help a lot and they are really good. Tastes like kool aid!
-
Congrats I am glad it all went well! I can't wait to join the club!
-
Congrats is sounds like it all went pretty well! Im sure you will feel better and better every day. Congrats!!!

OK, so i'm doing a modified version of the pre op diet to get some weight off before I really start the pre-op in October. I'm doing 2 Atkins shakes a day then a sensible dinner and some healthy snacks. I also started doing fitday.com which I LOVE! I love the chart that shows you exactly how many calories you have eaten and the graph showing how many carbs/proteins/fat you have had. But here is my question - on this pre-op diet I feel I am getting WAY too many carbs - am I just looking at it wrong? When I bought the shakes I made sure and got the ones that had a lower amount of carbs in them too. That is why I went with Atkins. But it still shows me as having like 25-30 percent of my diet each day being carbs. Is this OK? Just seems like a lot to me. I know this is what they recommend so am I just being paranoid?! I want to make sure and lose enough weight before my procedure and I just don't see how i'm going to with that many carbs in my diet. I have to lose at least 10lbs before the surgery. Thanks!!! Shelby

I'm gonna get me some tonight
jhawkchick75 replied to OICU812's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
My brain was completely in the gutter too!!! No idea what I would have for my first meal. I'd want it to be something really good, but something that isn't gonna get stuck. I don't need to PB on my first meal!! Argh!! I'd probably have to go with a cheeseburger too, but maybe no bun. Whatever it is - eat slow and really enjoy it!!! -
Ditto on the K20 water - I had one today and I LOVED it! I really didn't think I would like it that much but it is really great! And it did help curb my appetite. Was a great snack.
-
I do have a question in regards to cheese. I've heard you shouldn't eat it bu then some folks say they eat it all the time. Cheese is one of my vices and I LOVE IT!!!!! So what have been your experiences - should I just give it up now or will I be able to eat it? Thanks!!!!

OCTOBER SURGERIES AND FILLS
jhawkchick75 replied to Dolittle's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Definitely look for me! I started my pre-pre op diet today and so far it hasn't been too bad! I am doing protein shakes for breakfast and lunch then having whatever I want for dinner, but that is not a free pass to eat everything in sight! In moderation on the dinner, but not just lean cuizine or WW meals. I still want to hit a few places for my last hoorah before the real pre op diet starts. I bet as Sept gets rolling we see a lot more folks with Oct appts. I had to schedule mine way in advance b/c that was the first time I could take time off work. But it will be here before we know it! Yea! Shelby -
TLC-Fattest Man/Fattest Woman

I didn't get to see that show, but I do watch the Brookhaven show as well as Big Medicine and it is totally understandable how it happens to them. I used to be the same way...wondering how they could let it get that far, but I always said I would never let myself get over 175...then it was never shop at a store like Lane Bryant, then it was 200...you all get the picture! It sneaks up on you. But i'm glad i'm dealing with it now before it gets really out of control. My insurance won't help either (argh!) but i've figured out other plans to pay for it. Funny their only rationale was that I hadn't worked there over 3 years and they said they don't want to pay for something that expensive and then someone leave their job. Like I would work there only for the surgery and then quit. What a silly rationale! Gotta love our health care system in the US - but that is a whole different topic I won't start rambling about politics! -
wearing old clothes.
jhawkchick75 replied to momonamission's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
My first goal is to fit into some clothes that fit me just a year ago spring - then when they don't fit any more i'll be really excited! Congrats that is a great milestone!
