1. I sincerely hope everyone is safe and sound! My parents used to live in Houston for quite a while (moved recently to Dallas) and had to deal with a couple of hurricanes. Scary stuff!
2. NAME: Shelby (jhawkchick75) LOCATION: Kansas City, Missouri AGE: 32 (for the next 19 days anyhow) GENDER: Female BAND DATE: October 24, 2008 @ OCC FILLS: First fill already set with Dr. Malley in KC on December 3rd. Had to get it scheduled now b/c he fills up fast! Set that up weeks ago and that was the first time I could get in. HEIGHT: 5'2 1/2 (yes, that 1/2 is a big deal!!) HIGHEST WEIGHT: 208 'ish - weighing myself "officially" on Tuesday as I start to lose my pre-surgery weight. CURRENT WEIGHT: 208 'ish GOAL WEIGHT: not sure - never been at a good weight so I don't know what I'm capable of. I'm going for a 1st goal of 150 and then i'll see what I can get to comfortably from there. According to my BMI I should be b/t 115-125 and I just don't see that happening, but who knows! 130 sounds great to me, but we shall see!
3. Will they get ahold of me before hand or should I call them and ask for it. I want to hit the store before I go so that when I get home i'm all set. I won't have anyone to help me post-op so I have to make sure I have everything in line. I'm worried a bit about being on my own. I heard I can't lift anything over 10 lbs for a while and I think my purse weighs that much! Thanks!!
4. Is this similar to the diet Dr. Ortiz will give me? I have all the pre-op diet info, but have not recieved any specifics n post-op. I've got a while, but just trying to wrap my brain around what to expect early. Thanks!!!
5. Welcome to you all! I don't get banded until Oct, but I already know this is the best decision I've ever made!!!
6. When I did WW, they told us that every 1/4 lb was like losing a stick of butter. It helped when you were mad b/c you only last .5 that week - helped me to think of 2 sticks of butter being taken off my butt!
7. So glad that everything went well! I'm sure you will be feeling better in to time. Be sure to scope out the good deals - I wanna get me a couple of new purses!
8. That is so fantastic! Any advice or tips for the rest of us? You are definitely doing something right!!!!
9. I'm an October gal....yea! I will be headed down on Thursday the 23rd and having my procedure on Friday the 24. My mom is coming with for support and has already been scoping out where she will be shopping. It's gonna be here before I know it. I already scheduled my first fill too - the only place in the area I can go was booked until the first week in December, so I went ahead and got myself on the books now. Can't afford flights to go all the way back for fills. I have to lose a certain amount before I get there, so my pre-pre op diet starts on Tuesday. Woo hoo! Hope you all have a great long weekend!!!
10. Thought this one was cute....everyone have a great long weekend! I'm off to the zoo today with my niece for the first time (she's 2). Should be quite interesting!
11. What an inspiration and motivator! Fantastic!
12. If I find some more i'll be sure and put them up. If you find any be sure and add them. We can all use a good laugh!

Funnies

So I know weight loss can be really stressful, so I thought I would throw up a few funnies for us. Remember, laughing burns calories so if you have any others be sure and put them up here. Have a great day!! Shelby

14. Have a fantastic trip and I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!
15. Great topic I had to start it back up! I work so much it's hard to stick to a sitcom or show that I must watch each week, but thanks to DVR I am able to! My niece lives with me part time, so unfortunately when she is here I am forced to watch Franklin, Yo Gabba Gabba and the Backyardigans but when I can here is what I watch: Greys Anatomy is a must for me!!! Reality show junkie!! - American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, The Biggest Loser, etc... Other "reality shows" such as the First 48, Paranormal State, Dog the Bounty Hunter and lots of other stuff on A&E HUGE sports nut so always watching my teams Then, I love to watch all the shows on HGTV - a recent homeowner so I like to get tips And lastly, I love to watch the crazy ladies on Bridezillas! I love wedding shows which is funny b/c I don't want to have a wedding, but I love to help others plan them. Have a great night!!
16. That is one of my fears. My work is very busy and non-stop, but if I get hungry you betcha I eat! But with the band I do have a fear that if i'm not hungry time will pass by and I will forget to eat. I'll have to be really aware of my schedule and make sure I eat.
17. I am so jealous (in a good way!!) and wish you well. I hope time flies for me and it is soon my turn! Good luck and we will be thinking of you!!!
18. Sure not feeling anything right now, but I am in a friends wedding in May (i'm the live version of the movie 27 dresses!) and I really hope to be feeling that way by then when I get to get all dressed up. They are cute dresses and I do NOT want to be the fat bridesmaid like I usually am. No more!!!
19. Have you tried mixing up the type of food you eat and how many calories a day you get? I"ve done that before and it really does kick start it. For instance, if you are getting 1200 calories a day, then that is 8400 a week. So take that 8400 and mix them up. Maybe eat only 1000 one day but then do 1400 another. It throws your body off whack and that way it isn't in a routine. HOpe that helps!
20. Unfortunately I have to work all weekend, but next week is a short week for me so that won't be too bad. I work at a university and we have a dance tonight and then tomorrow and Sunday is recruitment for sororities. But after this weekend it really slows down - well as much as it can in my world. Goes from about a 12 to an 8! Hope everyone has a great weekend! Shelby
21. Ditto ditto ditto! This group has been a great help! I had no fears of having the surgery, but after years of failed diets I kept thinking way back in my noggin that although I would do it, that it would not do anything for me and that I would end up still fat. But after reading everyone's stories I KNOW I CAN do this and I am already picturing myself thin! I've never been even close to what I would consider a goal weight though, so it is hard to picture. Not really sure even what mine will be - but we shall see!
22. I haven't been since before Katrina, but they have GREAT seafood there! We walked so much when I was there that even though I ate wayyyy too much I lost a couple pounds! Have fun and good luck! Shelby
23. Definitely check around for me - my name is Shelby! I can't believe it is 8 weeks away - we will be there before we know it! I'm sure as the date gets closer there will be more folks chatting about it. I would have loved to go earlier, but that is really the first time I could take off work for a bit. I'll have to dig up that forum topic, but there were a few folks that mentioned and recommended some protien shakes that they said were pretty good. One I remember was from Costco and another I think they said they got at GNC. But I will double check and copy it in here. I just know I can't handle chugging down icky drinks for two weeks!
