I think the little ones are the ones that mean the most!!!!!! That is awesome congrats!!!!!!!!! -
I am not at goal yet thanks to this pesky last 10lbs, but hoping to get there soon. Most of it is my fault not eating right and exercising. But the best advice I can give you is to make sure you are eating enough calories (that is many times an issue) and are measuring. Also lots of water can help too. I'd encourage you to measure and journal your food every day to make sure you are getting enough and a good mix of food. Many of us journal on here every day and you are welcome to join us!

Solid Food and the Weight Loss Stops
jhawkchick75 replied to karenci's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Yeah hate to be the bearer of bad news but that is very typical. I lost around 10 pre op and around 12 on liquids and gained 6 of the 12 back between solids and my first fill. My doctor was actually really pleased and told me many gain it all back. Once I got that first fill and got active again it started slowly coming off and after the 2nd fill came off a lot quicker. I was nice and steady after that and now this last 10lbs just doesn't want to budge. But i'm keeping at it! -
One of those crazy days where I have to eat when I can. Ugh! I'm so ready for April to be over and things will calm down some! Will be eating lunch at like 10:45 and dinner at 4:30 otherwise I don't get anything. B: V8 Fusion then some Fiber One cereal (dry) L: Campbells chuncky chicken noodle soup (drain the juice out & just eat the chunkiness) D: 1/2 a combo burrito and some chips S: 2 vodka and cranberry - after today I needed a cocktail! Calories so far: 1,100
-
B: 1 small tortillia and some potatoes L: Turkey slices dipped in light miracle whip, carrots and ranch and chips and bean dip S: Ice cream D: Chicken nachos Calories so far: 1,400

The 2nd fill was the one that got rid of bread for me! I can still do shrimp, but at lunch it is usually a no-go. Also, keep in mind if you did that right after your fill you are inflamed a bit. They always put me on liquids/mushies for a couple days. It will heal and loosen up a bit. I need for chips and dip to get stuck - it is the devil!!!!

B: Tortilla w/ eggs, sausage and potatoes in it L: Sliced ham dipped in light miracle whip. Tortilla chips & low fat bean dip S: 1 hershey kiss D: Pasta & a few pretzels Calories so far: 1,200

Well, unfortunately it is different for each person. Prior to any fills I could still eat anything just not as much of it. It wasn't until my 2nd fill when bread was out the window. I'm also one that can't do any meat that is too dry and fried foods are out until at least dinner and sometimes still not then. I just eat slow and if I get stuck I stop. Sometimes it's too late and I get sick but I try to do that as little as possible. My only recommendations are protein first (fish, beans, etc...) then do some fruits and veggies and then if still hungry some carbs. But usually for me if I follow this rule i'm hungry after the veggies. I usually do proteins and veggies/fruits at the same time. Just avoid those slider foods - don't eat them just b/c you are afraid something will get stuck! Good luck!

Down .8 this week guess i'll take it after it saying I gained 4 lbs two weeks ago! From Easter to going to Royals opening day I ate bad this last week so i'm content.

Not sure on that one....I was put on protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and then a healthy dinner. Good luck though!! Exciting stuff!!

When I had mine done the OCC gave me a list of doctors in my area that would see me. Might check and see if they still do that.

Need help getting back on the Bandwagon!
jhawkchick75 replied to Amanda2008's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hi there! The best advice I can give you is to go back to basics! Read through all the info and go back to just like when you were at day 22 and starting solids. Portion control, start w/ proteins, then veggies, etc... Just like was already said, tomorrow is a new day! Just because I mess up at lunch I don't let myself then consider the day screwed and eat bad the rest of the day. Just start all over right then! Also for me coming in here often helps keep me accountible. Good luck! -

Happy One Year Bandiversary to ME!!!

Crap sorry girl I missed this somehow!!!! Soooo awesome congrats!!!!! Keep up the great work!!!!!! -
For sure take your laptop it is a life saver! When I was there is was either spanish speaking stations or a Sunset Tan marathon! I did have fun watching Notre Dame football in Spanish though! I just took special K20 packs and had bottled water. I also utilized the store across the street. The broth at the hotel was actually really really good! I took broth with me and tried to make it in the coffee pot but it made me gag! Only other thing I would suggest is a heating pad - I didn't take one and really wish I would have! Good luck!!

Good luck tomorrow!!!!! You are making an excellent decision - can't wait to hear how it goes!!!!! I trusted my gut on who to tell - some folks mean well but I know they won't be supportive. Others I knew would be once they saw results so I told them later on and of course some knew from the beginning. Some had a lot of ??'s but were always supportive. My dad took a lot more work but came around in the end and is sooo happy for me now. Let us know once you are done how it went!!!! -
Thanks!! You know it is soo true....I was telling myself yesterday how the hell did I do this for 21 days! Yesterday was really tough and I did have a minor cheat and had some fritos that someone had at work, but today has been a million times easier. I had soup at 9:30 and its now 12:30 and i'm not hungry yet. Tonight is sand volleyball where drinks are always consumed so I need to be really careful. I need to watch b/c my tolerance will be shot and also that I don't lose my willpower! I need to eat real food for dinner Friday, so i'm going to try to make it until then. I was really frustrated this morning b/c the scale says i'm up 2lbs, but that was only after one day and i'm sure my body is holding the liquids so i'm keeping at it. On Fri morning we will see how I did. I so can't wait to hear about your PS! I'm so jealous I really want it but just can't afford it. I need a TT and a tad bit of lipo. Hopefully that is what the income tax refund will go towards next year!

Living with very little fill

Hi there glad to see you back! Ugh, that stinks you are going through that i'm sorry. Sounds like you are having great will power though! Keep up the good work! I know for us folks that are that close to goal it's tough, but you are a tough cookie so i'm sure you will do it! Do you plan on trying to get more fills later? Did they say what the issue is? -
Hi there and congrats on your decision! Here are a few comments on my end: It is my understanding that we are not supposed to talk cost on here, but if you call them they can give you specifics, but yes from what I remember you are on track there. In terms of deposit I sent all mine in full so i'm not sure there. There are financing options that they can talk you through but the interest rate was terrible so I went through first bank of Dad. For me I was able to have surgery the day before I was supposed to which was kind of great - that way I wasn't sitting around freaking out - just ripped the bandaid and was done! You get there and they run a whole series of tests on you. But even before that I talked w/ them on the phone and got lots of paperwork regarding pre-op diet, how much they wanted me to lose, etc... For me I had to wait a long time, but that was b/c I couldn't take off work until Oct (booked mine in July). But when I called they could have gotten me in as early as in a couple weeks. I soo wish I could have, but I just couldn't take the time off work until Oct. But if you talk to them it just depends on their schedule. I personally would recommend staying one night, but I know folks that haven't since they live so close. My guess is the cost is the cost no matter what so you might as well take advantage of the attention and free otter pops, but i'd check w/ them. My best advice for you would be to read as much as you can on here - I even got a notebook and took notes and felt really prepared and mentally ready to go. I read back through months of posts and it really gave me a great idea of what I was in for. But I will tell ya best decision I ever made and I would do it over 100 times over!!! Good luck!!
