Good Luck...keep plugging away....get a good diet program to follow, something that will help with the evening hunger....that is what I'm having trouble with...going to try Weight Watchers....next fill in November or sooner if I can get it done locally....

Hi, another Canadian here...trying for a fill here in Campbell River...if the Doctor won't do it...heading to Mexico sometime in November, while on our Winter vacation in Mesa...hope you are doing well with your losses....

Well Mom....the lap band is an excellent way to ASSIST with the weight loss...A proper diet has to be followed and excersize will naturally be easier. Slowly but steady excersize...The cost in Canada two years ago, $18000.00, Seatle was $15000.00 Mexico $8500.00...The fills are cheaper in Mexico and the care is second to none....If you can get past the soldiers and police with machine guns, opps can't forget the traffic.... you'll do fine. Presently I have only one fill. 3cc in a 10cc band and having trouble with a diet program, from Atkins to a more convenient one. Lost 70lbs and gained 20 back, so need to get the band filled and get a good diet program. Good Luck...

I had my lapband done on Nov. 20, 2008...I lost around 90lbs, quite fast..I stuck with the Atkins Program, however I wanted to increase my vegies..and fruit...I have gained 30 lbs in only 3 months...I don't eat bread, pastas, potatoes, etc...no icecream..no gravies..What the hell......Here's the problem...with this hunger I eat lots of salads, eggs, cheese, nuts and seeds... hamburger...etc...What I need is a program that will keep me feeling full, especially for the evenings. I do plan on a fill...right now I have a 10cc and only 3cc...fill Any suggestions...

Help! Contemplating The Band...

I'm 58 years old, morbidly overweight and have arthritis in my knees.....I told my wife that I have to do something besides these rollercoaster diets and pills...I lose 20 or 30 lbs and then I slack off and gain more weight than I started....The LAP BAND in my opinion is a TOOL and I believe that is my answer for years of being way overweight....I want to see my kids have their own families and I want to golf and travel....I can't do sports or even go for a 100 yard walk with out being in pain. So on the 20 of November my new life begins. All I can suggest is read all the very informative info from the people on this site each day and I'm sure you will find it easier to make your own decision, I know I did.....Good Luck -
Have to put my little bit towards this discussion....I went to my Doctor here in Campbell River BC. Canada. I have been seeing this Doctor about my weight problem for 6 years and have tried all the weight loss programs from Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Atkins, and onto pills etc.....Nothing was working...the programs I mentioned do work, but only if you can stick with it, and I couldn't...I needed help and this Canadian Doctor surprized the hell out of me!!! He said go for it!.....I told him about the refills and he mentioned that I should come back next spring after my stay in Mesa and he would line up a Doctor in Victoria or a Surgeon here in Campbell River. If they wouldn,t do the refill, he would......Man, you can't feel the relief when he said that to me.....With that said, maybe you might check with local Doctors in your own area, you maybe surprized that one of them may step up to the plate and help you.....

Doing the procedure on November 20 and getting my first fill on December 27 at the OCC....(Taking my family from Mesa, over to San Deigo on the 26th for the day, then back to Mesa as they fly back to Canada on the 28 and 29th...rush!!!) If everything works out I will get my final fill prior to my wife and I heading back to Campbell River in early April.....

I will be getting my procedure done on the 20th as well....Hopefully my wife Melanie and I will meet you at the Hotel and wish you great success in person....I'm alittle worried as well, but this weight has to come off!!!Doug

Sorry to hear of your problems.....makes one think on just who does the refills....Hope you are feeling better........I did put a small post regarding a Doctor in Arizona, however that is a ways out from you.....good luck -
Just gathering information on going back to Tijauna for refills after my procedure in November. Do they have pickups at the border for those who want to come across to the clinic....are the delays lenghty at the border? Is there a good motel (cheap and clean which take pets) in San Deigo....(I know there are lots of motel, but what would you recommend) Thanks Doug

I was a two pack aday 100lbs ago....used it as an excuse to eat....tried the gum, the ballbearings behind the ear, hypnosis, etc.....What worked for me is fear!!! Fear of not seeing my wife and kids anymore...then I thought of all the little things which helped as well....your clothes don't stink,(they really do...most smokers don't realize that!) your fingers aren't discolored, the furniture and living area aren't smelling like a Smokie old lounge in some seedy beer parlor.... We removed ourselves from temptation in the home...new paint, new curtains, and had the furniture cleaned....Sounds drastic...but this is a new life and your well being and your family's take top priority..... I thought that with the lap band you didn't have to worry about these diets anymore and had to stick with just eating alot less.

I mentioned in another site that individuals where having several problems, swelling, vomitting, tightness....My concern is, do these problems happen all the time, how much does one need a refill and if you had another chance of losing weight, would you use this procedure.....I'm tentively booked for the 20 of November....and alittle concerned.
