Hi Sabrina! Congrats on your decision to be banded...you WON'T regret this for a moment. I will also PM this message to you in case you can't find this thread... OK, the Special K2O water comes in two form ~ bottled and "to go" packet. Here is the Nutritional Facts for both: ~ Bottled, 16 fluid oz (Mixed Berry flavor) - 50 cal, 0g Fat. 0g Cholestorol, 40g Sodium, 14g Carb, 5g Fiber, 6g Sugar, 5g Protein ~ "to go" packet (to put into a 16.9 fluid oz bottled water OR 2 cups (16 oz) glass of water) Pink Lemonade flavor: 30 cal, 0g Fat. 0g Cholestorol, 40g Sodium, 6g Carb, 5g Fiber, 0g Sugar, 5g Protein The best buy between the two above is the "to go" packet. If you can't get these items in Canada, then google it and order online. If you do the math, your Stacker 2 sounds like a pretty good deal. I've yet to find any protein water calorie-free. They flavor and sweetened the drink, hence the reason the difference in calories, carb and sugar content. Hope this helps and Good Luck!

Watch the gum chewing...it causes gas! Cindy ~ WELCOME to Bandland! WALK, WALK, WALK!!! Take several mini walks, not just one long marathon walk. Also, raise your arms up and down, roll you shoulders up and down, back and front. These movements will assist in getting any gas bubbles stuck out of your system. Sip your drinks ~ don't chug-a-lug. AND, when drink, DON'T inhale through your mouth. Breathe in through your nose and out the mouth. When drinking, pour the drink in your mouth, instead of slurpng or inhate air while drinking...which causes gas and air bubbles inside you. Take those new chewable Fiber Choice to curb your hunger pangs ~ one at 10am and one at 3pm. Hope this helps you...and good luck!

My surgery is creeping up
JazzyJude replied to SHANALEE's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
OK Ladies! Click on the below link ~ this was put together from Julie who started it and then some add to the list. This is the list I went by ~ DO NOT OVERPACK...you will NOT use everything! Trust me. http://www.lapbandforum.com/index.php?showtopic=7005 All I took was: ~ my MINI suitcase on wheels ~ ONE change of clothes (what I wore (comfy, LOOSE) going; don't need clothes after surgery; I use a change of clothing when I left to go to the hotel; and last day I wore the clothes I came with) ~ slip on shoes (so I won't have to bend over and hurt my stitches area) ~ my toiletries ~ "to go" packet of Special K2O water ~ Gas X strips (take 2 strips at a time) ~ OCC paperwork (Helath surgery) and final payment, if any ~ Passport, picture ID, and money in small bills DRESS FOR THE WEATHER! If it is cold, wear appropriate shoes and jacket You won't get bored...either you will sleep and rest or you will walk around and browse. You will not be bored. The restaurant serves good food. Across the street you can get some popsicles (yummy) for snacks. GOOD LUCK! Hope this helps... -
You might also try rolling your shoulders around in circle, front and back, then in reverse, raised one side up, then the other side. Also raise both your arms and reach up and then one down, one up and vice versa. You may have gas bubbles stuck somewhere and with these movements, you may jiggle the bubbles enough to move out of your system. Hope this helps...

Hi Anne, Yes, this post had helped me too! Julie did an excellent job in putting this list together. You're paid for the surgery, room and care. You have 3 nights, 4 days total at the hotel. NO KIDS underage can come unattended ~ they can't stay overnight with you at the clinic. You will stay overnight at the clinic for observation, but your adult companion will be driven to the hotel until you come back to the hotel to stay until you leave. If you fly, you would be picked up from the airport from one of OCC's driver and will deliver you to the clinic for your preop (be prepare in case they have room/time to do your surgery a day earlier - like I did). Stay the night, and then you will be driven to the hotel to rest and relax or even shop around, if you choose. While you are staying at the clinic overnight, your companion will be at the hotel. Hope this helps you...

Hi Salena! No problem! We will meet up one day. I waited a little longer to see if you may come out. OK...about the broth. You are focusing way too much on the food intake. Just go with the flow. DON'T QUIT!! Stay with the guideline...trust me, it will get easier. You just have to remember you've had major surgery and you and the band need to heal progressively. Spice up your broth. I used beef broth with tobasco sauce to give it a kick. It helped. Also, drink lots of protein water too. Count your surgery date as day 1 and when you reach day 4, you can start with the drinkable yogurt......try the strawberry bananna to give you extra potassium. To help with the hunger pangs, if you haven't been taking the chewable Fiber Choice, take them one at 10am and one at 3pm ~ this should help. Hope this helps you! Good Luck!!!

Hi Anne, It's base on what the dr sees, during your surgery, the fatty tissues around your liver, is when he determines what size band to use on you...
-
I haven't experience this. Try a different soup to see if that makes a difference.

Yummy! Will have to try these cookies!

Hi Susanna! Don't worry too much about your band size. Each person is different, depending on the thickness of your stomach wall and how much fat is on the outside of your stomach wall, is what determines the band size from the doctor. You will get your fill accordingly, and it may take a few extras, but that's ok. When you go for your fill, make sure you get a good one. Take the time to do this. There is a good post on this under the "Fill" section - browse through it. Hope this helps you!

Salena...I will be at OCC tomorrow for my fill appt at 10am. I am hoping to see you there. If you get out before me, wait for me! I so wish to meet you and your hubby. Glad you met a few gals!!! Get their names and emails so you can all converse, if not on this forum! Take care and see you soon! Congrats again! ((HUGS!!))...Jazzy ^,,^

WOW...very interesting reading! Thanks for sharing this...

Excellent point Jann! Those movements would move the gas bubbles around and eventually would move out of your system...

YAY Kristy! There you are! Love your smile kiddo! WELCOME to the forum! When is your surgery and where are you having it at?
-
WELCOME to Bandland! I wouldn't think you would be charged extra as this time you are still under their care and so new of a patient. For your shoulder pain, you need to do a lot of several mini walks as often as you can! Sip your drinks and keep fluids in you to prevent dehydration. I am wondering also what is your issue and how it happened and what they did to help you. Keep us posted...

Woo Hoo Finally in Bandland!
JazzyJude replied to DaGreen's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hi Donna! So glad all went well for you! We tried to tell you not to take too much! LOL I, too, went to Salon Soliel, to have my hair done - highlighed and a pedicure. The gals there were wonderful and took very good care of me. OK...keep the sips in mind and do LOTS of mini walks, don't do a marathon...just several mini walks and keep using the gas x strips, you will be fine. Make sure you drink your protein water for the protein intake. Keep us posted on your journey too! WTG! -
Elated Elaine!! That is what you are! WTG...AWESOME job! I am having my first fill tomorrow, and yes, perfect timing for me before the holidays. Keep up the good work Elaine and continue to let us know how you are doing! HOO RAH!

Help, I hate Protein shakes and I need 30 grams a day!
JazzyJude replied to MyNewLife's topic in Diet and Nutrition
Hi Carrie! Has it been a week already? Wow...time flew on by! I am NOT a fan of protein shakes either but knew I need to have something for the first 21 days of NO food! I've tried a few protein powder and I have a hard time getting one that agrees with me because I HATE the chalky, sandy, aftertaste. I finally found a protein shake that I like! YAY! It's AmazeRX and you can go to their website for it. It has 21 grams of protein, per shake. They taste like ice cream milk shakes. For your gas, you need to do alot of walking and I don't mean to walk a couple of miles, but several walking sessions a day and keep useing the gas x strips. Between the two of them you will clear up soon enough. Start your fiber NOW. I use the new chewable Benefiber tablets (Orange creme flavor) and/or the unflavored Benefiber powder that is mixed in my liquids, soups, stew, chili, etc. I also use the new chewable Fiber Choice, twice a day, one at 10am and one at 3pm to curb hunger pangs. If I still have hunger pangs, then I would grab a Metamucil capsule I was using on my preop diet, suggested by Dr. Miranda. Hope this helps...Good Luck! -
Dana babe...I, too, am sorry for your loss as well. I agree...this new lax plan is really killing a lot of people and so unfair and this change was not a good one for sure. I have my thoughts on all of you and are in my prayers for good things to come... ((BEAR HUGS to you all!))
