  1. Hi Peggy: Nice to hear from you, no I have never heard from Allison, and Paige a couple of times but not for awhile. I am not sure about the other Peggy, I think she posted a couple of times when we first got home. You know I drink about 1 cup at a time too. I have been having broth, drinkable yogurt, protein shakes from Nutriharmony with 27 grams per serving, juice, hot chocolate, and popsicles. It sounds like a lot of food, how come it does not feel like it? We are distributors with Nutriharmony where we get our vitamins and meal replacements. We have been doing meal replacements for years, if you want the info, I will email to you. I have the meal replacement for breakfast (and lunch sometimes) which gives me 27-54 grams of protein for my day. I have lost 15 lbs so far, but nothing for the last few days. I am going to start counting calories, I have a feeling it is adding up to more calories than it feels. Exercise can not begin for another 10 days or so. I have not made my appointment for my fill yet. I can not decide when I should do it. I want to make sure everything is healed before I go. Seven weeks is the week before Thanksgiving, 8 weeks is Thanksgiving ans traveling will not work for me. So, I am actually thinking about the week after Thanksgiving, which will be 9 weeks. Keep in touch, Deb
  2. Hi Mandy: I am 10 days post op and in my second week. I was a bit confused too as what to eat this week. I emailed Dr. Miranda just to verify what all we could eat and she said anything that goes up a straw So, I mostly have been having broth, tomato soup, drinkable yogurt, tea, and water. I also added the protein shake in the morning which is 30grams of protein--that is my normal morning breakfast so it felt good to have it. My birthday was the other day and I had about a cup of a chocolate milkshake (something I never do). Let me just say it did not stay with me very long if you know what I mean. Well, good luck to you, Deb
  3. Hi Paige: I am concerned about my port. I was sitting on my bed with my laptop last night and all of a sudden it was like I had something alive inside me it felt like something moved and flipped. I am getting ready to email the doc. The site has had more discomfort than it had. Yeah, me too, I am ready to have at least the liquid phase behind us Have you lost any weight? I have lost 15 lbs!! That is a ton for me in less than a week. Bye for now, Deb
  4. Hi Paige: I still have pain in my shoulder also, I guess we should have walked the halls more to get rid of the gas from our stomach's being inflated during surgery. The doctors try to push it all out but..... It will get better, hang in there. Are you doing okay otherwise? Deb
  5. Hi Peggy: How are you? I tried drinkable yogurt today only because I have to take 3 Doctors to lunch tomorrow and not sure what will be there to have (soup) I wanted to make sure I would tolerate things other than clear. I told Dr. Miranda while I was there and it was okay. I felt okay, a few waves of nausea, but not sure if it was related to the yogurt or not. I feel good, but do have discomfort from the port site. It is like when I sit it creates pressure or something. Other than that I feel good. I did work 8 hours Monday at our business and did okay. I go back to work tomorrow at my other job--it is a spa so not too stressful, just concerned about lunch. Peggy, you must have been very tired if you did not get home until 1:00 AM on Sunday!! Poor girl!! You asked about how much fluid was enough-I understood that to be 1/2 cup at a time. I do not believe there are limits (within reason). Take care and we will talk soon, Deb Rick has been great-he has been taking care of me
  6. Hi: I would like to put a good word in for Lori also! I arrived to the airport late on my arrival day-around 10:00pm- there was no one there waiting to pick me up. I was like, okay, now what, and what should I do? I had all my documents handy, and found Lori's telephone number. I called her number and received the answering machine, I almost did not leave a message and then thought again. After leaving my message, she returned my telephone call within 1 minute!!!. She was able to make a telephone call to Francisco, he was only moments away. Thank you Lori!!! You saved me
  7. MimiIN: I am sorry about your Uncle. Was he ill or was it unexpected? Are there any gastic bypass support groups in your area. Sometimes that helps, also keeping a journal helps release emotions. I was banded 9/28. I find myself thinking about food, even food I do not normally want. Remember, liquids are not forever. Soon we will be able to incorporate food again. If you eat you could damage your band and have to go back to the clinic!!! That would be terrible, I must say that keeps me from not really wanting anything. I feel very tired too. I am self employed and worked 8 hours today and feel wiped out right now, but Wednesday I start back to work at my other job. There is something to say about being self-employed, it really was not too bad, but I am worried about Wednesday. Hopefully we will feel like ourselves soon. Maybe you should go off clear liquids and go to full liquids. Dr. Miranda said if you felt exhausted or you were having difficulty with clear liquids you could go to full liquids sooner than on the 8th day. Drinkable yogurt if very good and tasty. Hang in there okay. Deb
  8. Allison, Paige, and both Peggy's are you there? We all have made it home by now. We were all banded on the 28th of September. I have more pain/discomfort than I did immediately post op. I have a strange feeling at the site of my port. If it continues, I am going to email one of the docs. Take care, Deb
  9. Hi: Yes I am scheduled for 9/28, I get to San Diego late on 9/27, so I will have my pre-op's in the AM of 9/28. I am a little nervous, but happy with my decision to take this route. I received my book, "LapBand for Life" yesterday and finished reading it lthe same day. I have a sense of calmness after reading it. So with God's grace I will be fine. See you there, Deb
  10. Hi, I am scheduled the 28th of September. My husband and I are flying in from northern California on the 27th. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. I actually like meal replacement drinks, I do it many times a week normally, it will be not eating dinner that will be difficult. We like to meet for dinner, drinks, and nice conversation after a busy day at the office. I look forward to meeting those of you who will be there the same time as me. I have logged on the last couple of days, and have become somewhat nervous after reading some of the postings! Hopefully there are some who have an uneventful surgery & recovery. Also, does anyone get back to a normal life? After reading the postings, I am worried about gas, burping, nausea, vomiting, salivating while at work. I too am a registered nurse and I do not think I will be too effective while performing these bodily functions uncontrollably. Bye for now, Deb
