I was banded by Dr. Ortiz in October 2008 and I lost a considerable amount of weight. I received a small unfill over a year ago and now I have gone alot of my weight back. I'm going to OCC on April 5th to have my band check out and get a fill. I need encourage and support from my bandsters. I have to change my eating over again. Please provide me some meal suggestions for breakfast and lunch. I will probably need to go back to the basics rhc66

I have been diagnosed with fibroids and it has caused me to have an enlarged uterus. Uterus is as if I'm 4 mos pregnant. This has caused my band to be tight most of the time because I'm always bloated. I'm having surgery in a few weeks to remove fibroids so dr wants me to get an unfill. I was just wondering has anyone ever had this problem before with their band?

Dolittle, did you have your band completely unfilled? I'm having surgery to have some tumors removed and I'm going to get an unfilled. But I didn't know how much I should get removed.

In the mornings I am tight and I can only drink hot liquids. I can't eat anything until late afternoon. In the evenings it seems like my band is wide open and I can eat anything. Does anyone have any insight on why there is morning tightness? Or does that mean I am too tight and need a slight unfill? Denise

Thanks for the tips. The hot soup worked tremendously. Denise

I recently received a fill at OCC about a week ago. Now I am way too tight and can't eat any foods. I can't be back to OCC until Wednesday for an unfill. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do until I get an unfill. Liquids are hard to do first thing in the mornings. Will drinking hot liquids help? Denise

Since we are not suppose to drink liquids with our meals, can we still eat cereal? I love to have cereal for breakfast, but I didn't want to wash the cereal through my band with the milk. I have had 2 fills so far. Does anyone eat cereal since being banded? Do you think it is okay? Sharon

Blazn, Great job on your weight loss. Do they use flouroscopy for the fills? Is hard to get in for an appointment? Sharon -
Dana, Thanks for the menu. Do you workout at all? Sharon

Hi Anne, so how are things going since you got banded? I didn't start starving until day 5 post-op. Dr. Acousta did use the floroscopy. I guess I'm so shocked at how full I am feeling so now I just need to step up my exercise a little more. I did do the transportation pkg for the fill which was $279 and it included 1 night hotel stay. They pick you up at the airport and take you to the center or hotel and back to the airport on your departure date. I think it is $199 if you don't do the 1 night hotel stay. Sharon

I got my first fill on Dec. 15th at OCC and I got 2 cc's. Once I eat breakfast and drink my water , I always feel full throughout the day. I try to eat when I get hungry, but my stomach never feels empty or growls. I have been getting headaches so I take that to mean I'm hungry. So on yesterday I made a conscience effort to eat every 3hrs and I didn't get any headaches but I felt so full throughout the day. So is this what restriction feels like? Or is it I probably have some swelling from the fill? Is eating every 3hrs appropriate even if I don't feel hungry? I guess I don't know how I should be feeling since my fill. Please give me some insight. Sharon

I am having my 1st fill on Dec.15th at OCC. Will I have to follow a liquid diet after fill? If so, how many days?

Hello, I am having my first fill on Dec. 15th, 8 weeks from my surgery date. I will be flying in on Dec. 14th and leaving on the 16th.

I started solids on this past Mon and I haven't had any problems with food getting stuck. I ate an boiled egg for breakfast and tilapia or salmon and green beans for lunch and dinner. If I needed a snack I ate FF pudding or applesauce. I ate about 2oz of fish and I felt full.

I was banded at OCC and Dr. Miranda told me no jello.

No, I was not groggy. I was very nauseous and constantly throwing up.

Thanks for your input. I will try the Metamucil first. I have 2 more days before going to liquid yogurt. So I will hang in there trying Metamucil.

Hey, I was banded on October 20th and everything went well except I had some issues with the anesthesia. Other than that, I'm doing fine and trying to rid myself of the gas pains. This day 4 on clear liquids and I am starving. It appears I can't drink enough liquids to keep me full. Any suggestions? Can't wait until I can have yogurt smoothie and soups.

Tara, Please send me the recipe at sdpatt39@yahoo.com Sharon

How is your pre-op diet going? I have only lost 6lbs so far and I'm supposed to lose 10lbs. Hope it doesn't affect the surgery.

I will be banded on October 20th. On the 21st day post-op, I will be entering into the solid food phase and also going out of town for work for 2 weeks. I am so nervous about starting my solids away from home. Since I will be in travel status, I will have to eat out at restaurants. Please provide some advice on what to do. Should I just do full liquids an additional 2 wks until I return back home?

afterwannabe, I am flying in on Oct. 19th also for surgery on Oct. 20th. I started the pre-op on today and it was a little rough. Look forward to meeting you.

My surgery date is Oct. 20th at OCC. Is anyone else having surgery that day with Dr. Ortiz? Sharon
